the ambiance was nice, the server was very rushed. I asked the server about the coffee options and he started talking about an argument he had with previous customers about the difference between lattes and cappuccinos. I asked him for an iced latte and I said iced about 5 times just to make sure he got it. When the latte arrived it was in a clear cup with a straw so of course I assumed it was iced like I ordered, I took a sip and my mouth was completely burnt because it was scolding hot. We ordered our eggs over medium and they arrived they were completely liquid, when I told the waiter he said "Well I told them over medium so". Williams Family Restaurant is a diner located on William Penn Highway in Easton. They are open every day from 7AM - 8PM. My buddy and I stopped in on Thursday for a late lunch. Our server Amanda was excellent, but the food was lousy. We both ordered a crock of French onion soup, and split the London broil sandwich (served with steak fries) and gyro (served with pierogies or French fries). The FOS is the only thing that had any flavor. Everything else was bland, and the gyro was packed with lettuce instead of meat. Definitely disappointing. With a welcoming atmosphere, fast and efficient service, and great food in abundance. I went for breakfast with a friend and was amazed that after placing our order, we received our meals in 4 minutes. Craziness! The food was hot and cooked as ordered. Better still, the peppers and onions in the potatoes weren't over-cooked, which made for a great flavor. In the end, I didn't have to eat for another eight hours! We froze in this restaurant today when we came in for late lunch. Even 1 year old baby was loudly carrying on, which was unusual. After someone turned off A/C, the baby became quiet. Broiled Haddock was very good and rice was also very good. Salad with housemade Greek dressing was good and Navy Bean soup was good. Bread was good with soup and salad. French Onion soup was served hot, contained lots of onions, and broth was delicious. Marinated chicken breast entree with broccoli and brussel sprouts was pretty good. Rice was very good. Very welcoming and great atmosphere. With delicious Home Style cooking, Great Service and Great Prices. We went for lunch and were greeted with a smile and then shown to our seats. I had a chicken cheese steak sandwich, onion rings (sub w/ rings instead of fries) and a pickle. It was delicious and the portions were huge. I ended up eating everything, that's how much I enjoyed it. Super Stuffed, lol. My partner had an Italian Hamburger, w/ rings (subbed again) and a pickle. Again another huge portion, the burger and rings was so big that it looked like my friend didn't even put a dent into his plate. Seriously!!! Ordered a grilled cheese with fries and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The most basic of basic foods! How does a diner screw that up? This restaurant shows how! First the grilled cheese. Everyone knows you cook a grilled cheese with butter. They cooked it with oil. Rank oil tasted awful. Only had one bite and wanted to puke. The fries were cooked with extremely old oil. They tasted like fish. The chicken soup is not homemade. it is bouillon tasted awful. Their chicken pot pie doesn't have pastry!!! When I received my meal (which was just warm) it resembled a bland chicken stew - I searched for the pastry (the pie) but it was nowhere to be found! When I asked the waitress and the hostess, they said that is the way they always make it!! Yuk!...and how would I know??? I didn't eat it and they didn't offer to take it off the bill! We dined in this cold January Wednesday and was pleasantly served by Amanda, who managed to get the order perfect despite a full section. I love seafood and decided to go big with the fresh fried seafood combo. Happy to see every piece was freshly breaded, fried perfectly and accompanied by steamed broccoli and fresh mashed potatoes plus a crock of French onion! My hubs ordered the special combo of rib eye with 4 golden fried butterfly shrimp, salad, broccoli and mashed potatoes. We stopped for breakfast, were seated immediately, and brought coffee while we checked out the menu. Our waitress Deirdre was super efficient, pleasant and helpful. The menu is large, lots of omelettes, pancakes, waffles, chipped beef on toast. Fabulous coffee. We got platters that included real home fries, not frozen from a bag, toast with real butter and jelly, crispy bacon, and western omelettes with real vegetables cut up and cheese added. Biggest slap in the face is when you go to pay, they add a surcharge to use a credit card. No sign or warning that they are doing this when you start ordering. Nothing bad to say about Williams! I am not from the area, but my soon to be wife is. We ALWAYS make a trip to Williams regardless of our jam packed schedule for the visiting weekend. To my knowledge we have never had to wait, and if we did it was no more than 10 minutes for a table. You also can't beat the pricing. Coming from NYC, this is a break from the $25.00 brunch meal on Sunday. They also have everything you could ever want for breakfast. From your average eggs and pancakes, to wraps, sandwiches, and the Williams Breakfast Feast (what I always get). The service is very warm and there isn't a 10 minute block that goes by that your server isn't checking in on you. This might be due to the high table tuner over rate they are looking for. I love this kind of service and it doesn't go unnoticed. During this visit, our table of 4 was seated, served, and out of our booth under an hour. I can't recall what the entire table ordered, BUT my Williams Breakfast Feast was da bomb! So many delicious options on two plates for only $7.95! Like, seriously? This price is like heaven to touch, I love it soo much! I've been here MANY times, and honestly I can't think of a time I had a bad meal or bad service. It is a solid Diner, and if you go here, what you expect in your mind you are going to get. Breakfasts are very good (omelettes and the breakfast feast are popular with the people I've gone with...although the breakfast burger is an option the teens like), and the lunches / dinners I've had offer a tremendous amount of options. Look....it's a diner with very good food. If you're looking for Italian food...they have it on the menu, but it's not the shining star. Stick to Diner-type food at this place, and you won't go wrong. Food was really bland. The Alfredo sauce is homemade but taste like nothing but butter and milk. The salad tasted very diner like, not sure if it was the dressing or that the salad wasn't washed but I could definitely taste the difference compared to the many restaurants I've eaten at and their salad taste fresh and clean. Last week my friend Tiffany and I came here for dinner before going to the movies. I'd never been here before, but Tiffany is a regular. We had an appetizer plate (mozzarella sticks, potato boats and pierogies). Then she had the London Broil with mushrooms. I had the chicken parm. The appetizers were good, decent quality cheese and I really liked the flavor of anything. Tiff let me try some of the Londo broil, it had a grate grilled taste! My chicken parmesan was really good, I liked the crispy crust on the chicken. Quite generous portions, you feel like you get your money's worth on that. Our server was named Heather, she was pretty cool. Funny, easy to talk to and checked on us often to see if we needed anything. Really appreciated her service!
