Valley Fresh Market is a corner neighborhood supermarket. It's the only one in the area that offer good grocery products as well as deli. They are located in a large plaza. It's Solvang's Ralphs or V0NS. Overall, it's a nice supermarket. I recommend it.

Father's day

Roy helped us and chatted with us about the tritip Bbq.. So good as always. Suzy was there today working on her famous delicacies. Together wir her Milion dollar salad, we had the best Fathers day lunch out of the smoke.

Watch out for the meat. The tri-tip had worms in it.

I did like the people and the workers and the store looked so nice but one of the managers made some pretty inappropriate comments.

This little gourmet shop is adorable and so many great foods to indulge in for hosting a party or…read morejust to treat yourself. There are many gourmet cheeses, meats, olive oils, whole bean coffees, wines and more. The woman behind the cheese counter invited us to try the cheese samples. There was a lavender cheese and the black cheese with lemon that caught my eye. I bought the black cheese with lemon. The shop associate told me that the black color comes from licorice powder yet you cannot taste the licorice, only the lemon. There were many things I wanted to buy but had to have control. I love that a mother and daughter team run the shop and I loved hearing the mother speak Danish to an older woman that is one of their regular customers. Definitely check out the wonderful gourmet foods here when you visit Solvang.

Either way, nobody deserves to be treated the way she will treat you. Please go ANYWHERE else for your cheese and wine. I tried to have a conversation about her cheese selection asking for suggestions and she was terribly rude for no reason at all. You can easily buy most of her cheeses from Trader Joe's for half the price and without being spoken down to as a cutomer. There's plenty of other shops in Solvang with cheese and wine. DO NOT COME HERE!

This is my second visit here, and I am remiss in not having reviewed my first visit - but, ""s for…read moreeach visit! This place is non-descript yet just off the main park downtown, and an easy walk from most of the major hotels in town, or the central parking lot - plus lots of street parking as well. It seems rather small, with one area for bar seating and small tables, plus a larger dining area "next door" to the bar, but I like the bar ambiance, so it may be challenging on busy tourist days. Luckily, I travel on non-busy days and have always had a good seat. The ambiance is great, with a typical, colorfully decorated pub feel with TVs offering an invitation to relax and have a pint - or two! The menu is varied, and I had planned for what I wanted, but when the server/bartender/boss offered the daily special as an option, I quickly jumped at the chance. The special was a queso dip with house-made chips, and I had to try it! Sadly, I also ordered my usual, the Cobb salad. Sadly, because after the "appetizer" arrived, I quickly realized the full consequences of the saying "your eyes are bigger than your stomach!" The dip and chips were plentiful in both, and for me would have made a great meal on their own. But I was committed and managed to finish the salad. On my previous visit, I had the mac 'n cheese and the Cobb salad, along with a Guinness dark! That was sooo tasty as well! The food at this visit was great, and the service was as well. Sam, who is the owner, bartender, server, and jack-of-all-trades, is always friendly, professional, and efficient, no matter how busy it is, and this visit was the only one outside the kitchen. If you're in the area, give them a try! And leave room for dessert - I have yet to do that, but you can learn from my mistakes!

Fitzpatrick's Tavern absolutely delivered…read more We went all in on the food, and everything came out spot on. The spicy wings had great flavor--more on the spicy side than "hot," which honestly made them even better and more enjoyable. The Reuben with onion rings was done right--classic, satisfying, and the onion rings were perfectly cooked with a great crisp. The bread on the sandwich had the perfect crisp as well, which really brought it all together. And the standout was the spicy melt burger. My friend ordered it medium rare, and it came out perfectly medium rare--juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly as requested (which doesn't always happen, so that's worth noting). Everything was executed really well, and you can tell they take pride in the kitchen. Easy 5 stars. Would definitely come back.

We also did a beer tasting while we were here, and they were VERY generous with the pours into these adorable miniature pilsner glasses. When we were there, they did a tasting at the front of the store with six different wines. I knocked their grade down a star because they really gave us very little information about the wines -- no tasting notes, and you had to ask before they'd tell you the bottle cost. It just seemed like a customer service oversight. In the back of the store, the owner of the Waltzing Bear Winery poured three selections: two Pinots and a petite Syrah. Even considering I had already spent WAY too much money that day, I purchased a Pinot and a petite Syrah because they were so good! So, so good. The Syrah I'm going to save for a fat juicy grilled hamburger, and the Pinot will match perfectly with a nice ravioli. Good prices, too -- about $33-$45 for most of the wines, and they tasted as good or better than some $100 bottles I've had... Anyway, great store, even though some of the other customers were REALLY snooty. They looked at us (admittedly, the bride-to-be was wearing an incredibly tacky faux diamond headdress/veil monstrosity) like we were small children invading the store. One had an L.A. Times folded under his arm and stared down at us through his glasses, and I wanted to be like, "Um, this might not be immediately apparent, but all six of us are or used to be reporters for that paper...so don't look at us like we're dirt." But I didn't.
