Stopped by Peasant's Deli and ordered the Tuna Sando and the Kobe Sando. The Tuna Sando immediately jumped into my top three tuna sandwiches I've had. It was loaded with flavor from the Conservas Ortiz white tuna, boquerones, piquillo peppers, egg, arugula, and tonnato sauce. Honestly, I took one bite and completely forgot to take a proper picture. That's usually a good sign. We also tried the Kobe Sando, which was very tasty as well. The bread was a little firmer than I personally prefer, but it still worked well with the sandwich and didn't take away from the overall experience. We sat outside along the side of the restaurant and really enjoyed the seating area. Inside, the deli is just as interesting. They have displays of aged meats and a walk-in room arcade that feels like a hidden gem. It's a unique touch that adds a lot of character to the space. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Great food, great atmosphere, and great hospitality. I've been a customer of the deli since they opened. Anyone who says anything bad about this place is going to have to fight me (I'm talking about you, "Josh S."). For anyone who's been lucky enough to try Katz's or the OG Carnegie in NYC, Langer's or Greenblatt's in LA (not bothering to include Canter's) -- Peasant's has better pastrami. Better than any of them. Period. I've seen them make it 3 or 4 different ways. Usually they serve 2 or so styles at a time. It's always fantastic. Their Godfather is a take on the Bay Cities Godmother. A pretty great one at that. Their jamon is incredible. They just get that great sandwiches are made first and foremost with great ingredients. Cute cafe, right across the street from their sister restaurant. Ordered the Reuben sandwich which was ok, it was slightly too crispy for my taste but the rest of my family gave it a 5/5. Not much indoor seating but there are some outdoor tables available. Good place to stop by and grab a bite to eat that's quick if you are hungry. The Brady Rueben is 10/10 would recommend. The Kobe sandwich is 7/10 wish it had more flavor. Although, the balsamic vinegar on it was a nice touch. Service is fast and kind. Cute outdoor seating on a quiet street. I bring my dog to sit with us when we visit. Cute little deli with high quality ingredients. We enjoyed the smoked turkey sandwich which was stuffed with delicious shaved turkey breast, smoked cheese, and a mountain of veggies. We subbed the sesame roll for the soft dutch crunch and it was sooo good. The bread is firm and crunchy on the outside without cutting up the roof of your mouth, and fluffy inside with a hint of natural sweetness. The little arcade is adorable and has a variety of pinball machines and other games. There are patio tables and chairs outside, perfect for smaller groups. Lines can get long but it moves pretty quickly though wait time for the sandwiches can be up to 15 minutes. There are some bistro tables outside and it can get really busy, so if you see one available, grab it. Stopped in to Peasant's Deli and Arcade after our four hour drive from the South Bay based on its excellent Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. The interior is small with not a lot of indoor seating, but there are additional tables outside. We were lucky enough to score a table indoors. Here, I'd describe the decor as yummy, as the meat is on full display -- there's a large iberico ham sitting on the counter just waiting to be sliced, a display case with other salty cured meats (sopresa and coppa) in front of the counter, and red tins of Spanish tuna packed in olive oil. As promised, there really is an arcade in the side room (I love this combo!) - huge bummer for me, but my partner was not up for game time. Oh well, maybe next time. As for service, customers order at the counter and if opting to eat in, the food is delivered to your table. Everyone we encountered was perfectly friendly. The food was fabulous. My partner and mother and law went with the ham and cheese sandwich (kurobota ham, emmental cheese, pickles onion, and sesame seed-crusted French bread). They enjoyed their sandwiches so much that my partner commended me for selecting such an awesome place for lunch. Thanks, Yelp! I am a total pastrami snob. Most of the time, I won't order pastrami because the standard deli products are just a different flavored lunch meat. Peasants Deli --makes-their-own--! So I had to try. The owner said some have compared their pastrami to Katz's in New York (which is my #1 go-to pastrami). I can see it. This pastrami is not as juicy (I would ask for a fatty cut next time) and is smokier, spices a little different. But is it as good? Pretty close!! It's quibbling between an A and an A+. Quick stop in Solvang and we were craving casual dining spot for good sandwiches. Well... we lucked out with Peasants Deli. My wife and I shared the Godfather sandwich and it was incredible. All the best Italian cold cuts with an amazing spicy jelly sauce and toppings on amazing fresh made roll. They made our son a fantastic grilled cheese (I had to taste it and it was delicious). Lots of different chips to choose from and a large variety of canned sodas, glass bottled iced teas, and water. They serve wine and had a variety of nice options. We tried the sauv blanc which was very tasty. They even have caviar if you are in the mood. My wife partook and was very happy with it as garnish on the chips. It was a little tough making it a challenge to bite through - but the roll was good. 5/5 Ham & Cheese- classic and delicious. Best Ham & Cheese we have ever had. 4/5- Kobe Roast Beef- excellent sandwich overall however the sandwich was much lighter on the meat than the others making it not quite as filling. These are perhaps some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I can't even begin to describe the flavors, but the combination of ingredients in the sandwiches were perfect. Think of Remy from "Ratatouille" when all the flavors come together! My friends and I shared "The Godfather" and also "Chopped Italian Sandwich", and we were thoroughly impressed. The deli is a small spot with some limited seating in the shop, but there is an additional arcade area where there is more seating available. I believe Sarah, one of the owners, may have been the person who helped us with our orders. The day we came in, it was raining hard, so being in this shop was a pleasant surprise with its cozy décor and comforting space to take a break from the weather. My family and I were in Solvang for Christmas for a few days and my Girlfriend wanted me to try out Peasants Deli. So we decided to go for lunch. The Deli is a cozy little place when you can sit down and enjoy scenery of Solvang, while eating a sandwich. I looked at their menu and my Girlfriend recommended the Kobe Roast Beef Sandwich. So, I decided to order one and ordered it with: House Roasted Kobe Beef, grana padano, arugula, shaved red onion, horseradish aioli and aged balsamic. The bread I choose to go with Bob's Sesame French Roll. Waited for our order and found tables outside to eat. The staff member brought our order to us outside, which I did not expect, but welcomed. I took a bite of the Kobe Roast Beef Sandwich and I would say in my personal opinion that I probably had the best Roast Beef Sandwich I have ever had. When I was eating my sandwich, I would tell that it was prepared fresh and I really enjoyed the fresh bread of the Sesame French Roll. Particularly the bread had a crunch and the portion was very good size in my opinion. To top it off, after we were done, I had the pleasure meeting one of the owners of Peasants Deli, Sarah. Her hospitality and checking up on us, made the experience wonderful. Our overall experience was great and it was nice meeting Sarah. This place is well worth the drive. It was a great pit stop on our road trip. My friend and I wanted something quick but good and Peasants delivered. We ordered The Godfather and Tuna sandwiches with a side of pickled carrots. I was blown away. The sandwiches are on the pricier side, but I've never had a tuna sandwich with an actual fillet of fish and boiled eggs in it. All the ingredients were incredibly fresh and worked very well together. The pickled carrots were very tangy and worked well to counterbalance the tuna's richness. My friend loved The Godfather and said it paired nicely with the sesame roll. We were both full after eating half a sandwich. The interior was cozy with a handful of tables. There were a few tables outside, but it was raining heavily when we arrived. The cashier was friendly and very nice. She brought in one of the outside chairs and wiped it down for us so that we could sit inside. This is a great spot for a quick bite. This shop is cute but really small inside. 3 bistro tables inside and a coin arcade in the next room. The Godfather sandwich had really yummy meat. By default, it comes on their special bread. I forget what it was called but it had sesame seeds on top. You could switch it out for another bread upon request but I wanted to try it how it's originally made. I like a bread with a good crust on the outside and soft on the inside (like a Dutch crunch), but this one was a little thick and tough on the inside. You gotta have strong teeth to get through the bread! My jaw got a workout for sure. They have a partner restaurant across the street and a lot of workers from over there were walking in with containers of food (from the restaurant) and would leave with containers of food (from the deli). It was a bit distracting overall with the constant in/out and passing by us, as we were trying to enjoy our sandwich. The place is really small as it is so I'm unsure if this is typical or just on the day we happened to visit.
