I drove up to Spokane from Sacramento so I could visit some of my friends who moved up here. When I…read morearrived, I heard talk of a Fred Meyer and how it's nothing like what we had in California. So obviously I had to to go check it out and see why it was so noteworthy. My takeaways, It's pretty similar to the bigger Walmart's. Lots of sections for light bulbs, rugs, candles, toys, games, etc. The rest of the first floor is filled with a lot more food items than a Walmart, much like a real grocery store. But then the second floor is filled with tons of generic clothing. It's such a chaotic store, yet amazing to someone who is not from Washington. I was surprised to see tons of products I grew up on, yet haven't seen in over a decade were here. As well as a bunch of products that I've never even seen before. So obviously I bought a ton of stuff to try. The building as also super clean which is a huge plus of course. Now for the negatives. The second story full of clothing seems so out of place. All of the clothing is so generic, yet more expensive than a lot of other places around here I've noticed. To be fair, ever person from Washington I've talked to says they never go to the clothing section. But that makes me wonder whose buying their clothes then. All of the clothing looks like the generic clothes that NPC's wear in video games. The other drawback is that they seem to be super understaffed. Only 1 person at self check out, as well as a single checker/bagger were there. Of course they had a couple other staff members who were probably doing things such as inventory, stock, etc. But there definitely wasn't a lot of people for checking out. Overall, It's a cool place to visit and I'll enjoy it while I'm up here.

The cashier was downright rude. Diana got upset because I wanted to buy a carton of cigarettes…read more There were no cartons, I stated to give me however many packs make a carton. I had to repeat what I wanted. Suddenly I was holding up her line, and I was told that I needed to be more prepared when I go shopping. She started to get a nasty attitude with me. Since buying cigarettes requires identification, I presented a Military ID Card. She got mad because it wouldn't scan, it scans, just need a manager's override. I was informed that the Fred Meyer's does not accept any type of Military ID, as they are bogus forms of identification. When I produced my driver's license, she suggested that it too may be bogus. Discrimination towards those who serve. When she was done, I told her Merry Christmas, and to learn some tact. I got Merry F*ing Christmas and to shop somewhere else. If Active/Retired Military Cards are so bogus, please post that Fred Meyers promotes discrimination towards veterans and Military ID is not accepted. Excuse me for having to run an errand, excuse me for living near-by, excuse me for being a customer.

I was so anxious to see Wallace after learning about almost 8 years ago. I had always wanted to go up here. I got the Air B-n-B in Kellogg because Wallace didn't have anything available other than the hotel Wallace. I REALLY wanted a mountain experience and wanted to rough it. Meaning, off the grid totally while in the cabin and that actually happened. That's a story for when we all gather again and are like sitting around the fire or something hahaha! Anyway, we drove up the side of the mountain to the cabin, dirt road that took 10 mins from the paved road to get to lol...super windy road too. So we dropped out shit off and drove back down so I could get to Wallace. Wallace is only like 8 miles from Kellogg. As soon as you get off the freeway, loop around, first thing you see...Harvest Foods. It was literally the first place we went to when we got up there. I mentioned in my Yokes review that you get the cheaper prices there because of the fact that it's a chain and they can afford it. Anyway, Harvest Foods is definitely a little more pricey, but for convenience sakes, it's not bad. Also, if you're visiting, chances are you won't care about the prices. I know it didn't bother me all that much and I'm a super cheap m'fer lol. I walk in and immediately loved that it was old school. Reminded me of "Bells" a tiny grocery store in Geneva, NY that closed years and years ago. Any place that takes me back to when I was a kid, is incredible for me. I live for nostalgia. Means so much to me. This place was that. It's conveniently located and if you live in Wallace, no matter where really, you can walk here. Yeah because it's convenient, but Wallace is super tiny. 700 and some change people live there. It's literally calling me!! The cashier was so nice. Another one who immediately engaged Frankie boy. And again, if they do that before saying anything else, it makes me smile. The dogs love it and it makes me so happy to see them happy because of all dogs do for us. She asked me a few questions about him. I was like "ok he's in here?" She was like "even if we didn't allow dogs, would never say no to that little face. He's so adorable" Again, I love people like her. Then told me she had an older, little one at home. She was great. Not too much to say. This place was great in every sense of the word, even if the prices were higher. I went to Yokes that last night because 1) I just discovered it by accident and 2) it was not far from our cabin at all lol. Had I never found Yokes, I would have gone to Harvest Foods more than I did. Harvest Foods has everything you need. I'm sure they hate that the Walmart was built up there. Smaller, independent stores like this always suffer when that giant comes stomping in. However tho, if you live right ok Wallace, Harvest is definitely more convenient than Walmart ESPECIALLY during the cold months. Walmart is a drive down the freeway, Harvest is a walk down the street. Thanks for reading!! Cheers!

Pepsi Max In Da House!…read more SITREP It's the little things in life that OFTEN give the greatest joys! THE SETUP Being in Idaho for four (4) days in itself is not so bad. It's just not having access to the simple comforts of life that can sometimes leave one cranky. So imagine my surprise when I discovered even here in the back woods of the Idaho Panhandle I could find my favorite Pepsi Max! And not only that, but a discounted price of $3.99 per 12-can cube! These puppies are often $6.99 per cube at Safeway, Bel Air or even $7.99 at Raleys back here in Sacramento! Considering I had driven up here to trek through Oregon, Washington and Idaho, I had the car and was just able to pop 4 of these cubes in the trunk for the trek home! MUNCHIES Oh yeah. I bought a shitload of other munchies to take with us to my uncle's ranch. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/archies-iga-saint-maries?select=DYxSnTg6XwAqTg-_Rmm3iw THE LOWDOWN Nice to find a store up in these here parts that's got the stuff you want!
