Ugh, I hate grocery stores…read more Seriously. Grocery stores are the worst. And this Safeway location doesn't do anything to combat that stereotype. Look, grocery stores are poorly laid out, this Safeway is poorly laid out. The parking lot is a shared parking lot, it's not good. But the biggest reason that this location (and all other Safeways) gets a poor review is how expensive it is. There are so many other less expensive options for groceries within a 5-minute drive of this location. Other than strict convenience, why would anybody go to this grocery store? It's so expensive! The only thing that saves this from being a one-star review is that everybody who works here seems to be super friendly and helpful.

It had a pretty good variety of groceries and a bakery and deli too. The ambience was decently busy on this New Year's Eve morning. With my sweet tooth, I couldn't help but to try some donuts. I went with a maple bacon bar, regular maple bar, and a lemon filled bismarck. Service was great as I rang the service bell, a clerk came out promptly and was nice and friendly. The maple bacon bar was delicious; the perfect balance of salty and sweet in one bite! The bacon gave it a good crunch and a slight smokey taste, but in a good way. As for the lemon bismarck, I love lemon anything. This lemon-filled donut was pretty good and did not leave that weird lemony after taste as some lemon do if you know what I mean. The ratio of filling to dough was perfect. I hate when the donut barely has any filling inside, but this one didn't disappoint!

So imagine my surprise when I discovered even here in the back woods of the Idaho Panhandle I could find my favorite Pepsi Max! And not only that, but a discounted price of $3.99 per 12-can cube! These puppies are often $6.99 per cube at Safeway, Bel Air or even $7.99 at Raleys back here in Sacramento! Considering I had driven up here to trek through Oregon, Washington and Idaho, I had the car and was just able to pop 4 of these cubes in the trunk for the trek home! MUNCHIES Oh yeah. It was nice inside and it was bigger than I thought. There was a pretty good selection of groceries and I know this will be a regular go-to versus driving to a bigger town or city. My friend told me their donuts are pretty good and of course I had to try one. I had a maple bar and liked how the dough wasn't heavy and the maple glaze frosting was nice, smooth, and tasty. Not many other options, so we decided to check out the deli at Rosauers. This ended up being a solid choice. They had pre-made breakfast items like a heated breakfast wraps and sandwiches. There was also stuffed hash browns, several meats to choose from, toast, etc. I had the stuffed hash browns with gravy and it was very good. Lots of Cravens Coffee choices were also available. The seating area consists of about 6 booths with non-cushioned seats but are still comfortable enough. The employees were also friendly and upbeat. Lunch is also served here with the standard pizza sticks, chicken tenders, fried chicken, etc. they also do sandwiches as well and one that went by looked very good. Overall the deli is a good choice for a stop if wanting something quick, or sit down.
