Stopped by on an afternoon to return to Cool, CA. The location is back off the main road and once you can't miss it, once you see it. Had them load the truck up with an entire basket of mixed wood. For the price and service it really was a great experience. Also learned they will deliver out in my area so next time I don't have to make the trip. I primarily heat my house in winter with firewood but after 15 years of bucking, splitting and seasoning my own firewood, it was time to find a reputable supplier and hand over the work to someone else. I tried a local supplier last season that I found easy to communicate with but the quality of their mixed lot had a lot of different lengths and showed signs of pest & rot so I didn't want to use them again. I chose Placer Firewood for this season, and I was really impressed with Omar's overall communication and response. When he says he wants to make sure you're satisfied with the order, he's not just blowing smoke. He means it. I initially ordered 2 cords of their mixed value wood to get a starting gauge of the quality. The wood was delivered and right away, I noticed the quality of the logs. They were mostly uniform 16 inches and pest/rot free. I was very excited by this but as I began sorting and stacking, I noticed at least half a cord of logs felt very heavy to handle and had an immediate "fresh cut" smell. Because of my extensive experience with seasoned firewood, I could tell by weight and sound that I had received some "wet" logs. I test burned some of the logs and found they were smoking heavily and creating a lot of creosote. I later confirmed it with a moisture meter which picked up 23/24% moisture in some of the logs I had suspected. I contacted Omar about my issue with the delivery, and he acknowledged that there was a miscommunication during the rush of loading that resulted in my accidentally receiving unseasoned wood, and he made it right by offering to swap the whole order. We came to a mutually agreed remedy, and he later delivered a very well seasoned cord and stacked them for me. It was sincerely an above and beyond response. My original post mentioned a paid-for product that was not delivered last year, and Oscar literally came by this year to drop off the items! He didn't give us a heads up or say a word about it other than taking time out of his day (or an employee's since I'm not sure who dropped it off) to make right of a situation that occurred LAST YEAR! The only place I would go for firewood. Omar has the best wood! And that's not just according to Mrs. Omar... I bought a cord or so of really great dried Almond wood from Omar at the end of winter and he delivered it himself, helped me unload it and it looked and smelled so good I knew I wouldn't make it until winter to get a nice fire going.
