So not only do you have to suffer through all the things the one star comments say happens here. You are then pawned off to their third party servicer who also is notoriously bad! Please save your self stress and anxiety and shop around for your mortgage. Look at the posts here, that poor guy must sit at his desk and just pump out the pre written: I sorry to hear your (insert problem here). Again do NOT if you are able to, get your mortgage here. Another disappointing interaction. Had a $10 fee attached attached to the account for our nonprofit service club. Called to inquire as to why was on hold and transferring, etc. for over 45 minutes. Finally spoke with a manager, but the phone lines got crossed and there was another call on the line so the manager said that we needed to conclude the call and she would call me back that was over four hours ago. We have been working with Valley Strong to do a HELOC with them and encountered a multitude of problems with they. First of all it has to be online and if you don't have right kind of computer access for them it makes things difficult. We are to the point of saying forget it. We have been working on this 8 days and it is dragging on because they can't get their act together. We are ready to forget it and go somewhere else. This morning, Friday, June 28th, I tried to call and speak to a live person w/o accessing my account information. All I was trying to find was information regarding a reported shredding event. After approximately thirty minutes, I finally reached a live human being. Her name was Monica. She was most courteous and helpful. She informed me that there was no scheduled shredding event listed. I thanked her and we hung up. Just seconds following my call, she called back, after doing more digging, and informed me that there really was an event scheduled for the next day through the McCarty Real Estate Group. I was ecstatic and relieved at the same time. I immediately tried to call her back but to no avail. Now that's what I call old fashioned business practice. I remember when there was a time that I thought that KSFCU had awesome service all around; I've been with them over 16 years easy. They are still ok with business if you go inside even though they have long lines, the drive-thru service and ATM is great and I love it, but the online banking system fxcking sucks!!!!! Two issues: 1) They are starting to charge for everything. Charged me for a deposit. Charging for checking accounts. Etc. I thought they were set up for banking but every transaction is an additional charge. 2) always a long wait either in the branch or on the phone they are always "experiencing more than expected call volume" I do all my banking remote and require very little assistance so I don't like fees. Excellent customer service for personal loan. I Indicated interest in a personal loan on Valley Strong Credit Union web site. Then Corinne contacted me by phone and asked me some questions and later called back to say my loan was approved. Then I was able to go to my regular branch on Mount Vernon where Karina completed the paperwork and got my electronic signature. Then the money was transferred to my account. I couldn't believe how seamlessly it all went. I was a member of Kern Schools Federal Credit Union from 2008, and have remained a member as the credit union has gone through its transition as Valley Strong Credit Union. Exceptional service even when you don't have an account! My Mom was about to send who she thought was my cousin $6k through Western Union, a woman with a Valley Strong shirt named Gloria M went up to my Mother and I after hearing us conversate while in line to buy groceries. She asked if we had actually spoken to my cousin. My mom responded she had only been contacted through Facebook. Gloria urged us to contact my cousin by FaceTime or phone to confirm that they did indeed request the funds. After a few attempts my cousin answered and we found out he wasn't being evicted and never contacted my mom through Facebook. Gloria talked to us about phone and internet scams even with her kids in tow she answered our questions and took her time to explain everything we needed to know to avoid this again! Did I mention it wasn't during business hours?She went above and beyond when she was simply grocery shopping and could have kept going. She chose not to and saved the day for us! Last week my account was compromised, Valley Strong made good the compromised funds within 24 hrs, but I believe they need to take a look at their Cyber security defense. Not comfortable with leaving my money there any longer. I have a considerable saving deposited and overdraft on my checking but the froze my account because I had to many overdrafts this month. I have money in the other account!! We have been with Valley Strong since 1987 or so when they were Kern Schools CU. They have always been friendly and helpful. We recently had to close our old accounts and open new ones due to my wife's mistake of falling for a scam. All of the staff at the Tehachapi branch were sympathetic and helpful in accomplishing that. Kristy the manager headed up the change and was never condescending or rude, only helpful. She took the time to explain things to us so we understood exactly what we needed to do. She even printed out a list of places we were paying our bills through Valley's bill-pay service so it would be easier to change everything to the new accounts. read more

My sister-in-law and I came here one Saturday on an urgent mission to set up a transfer for my mother-in-law's accounts. She couldn't do it as she was in Korea and it turns out did not keep proper records of her account number! Though our request was strange and we had limited time, all the staff and manager were exceptionally patient and understanding. I'm not sure if I would have been as good as they were if the positions were switched. No complaints about this credit Union. Have been doing business with them for years. They qualified me for my first auto loan when I was 21 working at a pizza joint! Have had savings account with them for couple years now just to a little untouchable emergency $. The tellers are always friendly and pretty prompt. The lines in the lobby can get backed up at times on Fridays and Mondays, but that's to be expected during rush hour at any bank, especially since it's the only branch in this area. Two drive thru ATM machines and 3 drive thru teller windows. If your looking for a local credit Union without a bunch of hassle this is your stop. read more

After 25+ years with Kern Schools Credit Union I'm out! A new way of doing business I guess. Show complete disdain for you customers and tell them very clearly "I don't care enough to solve your problem". I've had my business accounts at Union Bank for 28 years, now they've got my personal accounts as well. Something very simple, an ATM card that stopped working, that could have been fixed by a teller or over the phone, took 3 weeks, 6 phone calls (including 90 minutes on hold) and every person just gave me a new phone number to call or said you'll have to contact your local branch. Which is ironic, because I got those phone numbers from my local branch. No one I spoke to had the authority or ability to fix my ATM card. That was until I simply asked the last person to just close all my accounts. Their response to that was, "I can fix your card for you right now over the phone." Wait a minute, aren't you the same person that just told me there was nothing you could do and gave me another number to call. Well, I don't want to have to threaten some 18 year old teller every time I need something from my bank. Too many clueless kids doing jobs they don't care about. Valley Strong? I doubt it. read more

This is by far the best bank in all of California. No fees to do most business, the checks are cheaper per box than any bank I've used, staff is super friendly and very professional. Not to mention if you have an issue you can be assured they will make it right and do it fast. I will never bank elsewhere and i recommend you don't either. Their mobile banking app is free and easy to use, and when getting a debit card it is printed right there in the office no long wait for it to come in the mail. read more

Once again, Kern Schools Federal Credit Union strikes again. I predicted they would once again (for the 6th consecutive month) screw up my account. Between the notices that their on line account program would be out of service for multiple days a month, and screwing up my debit card, I am so done with this place. If they want me to make my mortgage payment, they can come to my house and collect it at this point. I have made several trips and attempts to deposit money into my account, maybe now they can suffer the inconvenience for a change. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! They talk a good story, and make nice on the phone, but when it comes down to actually fixing problems, they are useless. Beware. Great rates but TERRIBLE handling of our home loan app. process. We have near perfect credit and almost no debt and our app breezed through with one officer initially. Then we were handed off to another and everything went slow, there were errors in paperwork (e.g. asking for a pest inspection waiver when we had a completed pest inspection already done long ago and had provided this to them). many unexplained delays. Promises that things would be done that never were. Less than a week from closing on a 40-day long escrow and we still didn't have confirmation of loan final approval despite numerous calls to the loan officer to urge things along and make sure they had all they needed. Finally had to call the loan center manager four days before close date, then things finally happened. Loan funded just one or two days before close. Nightmarishly stressful. NEVER AGAIN. read more
