The day we met, he explained he Invented ProGrip mesh. My surgery was 34 minutes apparently because his method is FAST and torture on my insides. TAPP vs TEPP he chooses the one said to cause issues in forums. The $$$$ my pocket since surgery is 400% the $ I prepaid prior for the mesh implants...3... I am an 80 year old male and they discovered I had a mass in my liver, which was diagnosed as HepatoCellular Carcinoma. I was referred to Dr. Nagatomo for a possible Liver Resection. Dr. Nagatomo immediately took an interest in my case. I am very lucky I met Dr. Nagatomo, he successfully removed a section of my liver and I am now completely cancer free. While I was recovering at home I noticed an infection. As instructed I called the Surgical office and left a message for the Surgeon on Call. I was referred to Dr. Mekel from my primary doctor, but I wish I had asked someone else for another referral. My surgery in October 2023 went fine other than Dr. Mekel was late because supposedly he went to the wrong facility, but there was no follow up within 24 hrs from either surgeon (Drs. Mekel & Ferrera) after I went home just to check to make sure I was fine. Dr. Mekel finally called about 4 days after the procedure to see if I had any questions or concerns. I am now chasing a refund (almost $500) from them that is going on 2 months without resolution. Their billing department had called and asked for a deposit for the estimated cost of the surgery a few days before it happened, so I gave them it. They miscalculated and owe me money. I have called 4 times since my insurance company finished processing their claims, which was December 3rd, and have been told repeatedly that I need to be patient and they are working on getting it expedited. (They even sent me a detailed statement showing I am owed a refund back in December, but I still can't get a check.) Today I had to resort to ultimatums, but I am not expecting any reaction from them other than not calling me back, which seems to be their MO along with not giving back money. Steer clear of this business, there's plenty of surgeons in the Valley with better business practices and follow up care. I will amend this review if there is anything new to disclose. FOLLOW UP - I ended up having to send a letter letting them know I would be filing a lawsuit to their main office on 40th St and also to the two surgeons at the Scottsdale office and received a call this week from Danielle S. as soon as she received the letter. She was AWESOME! I wish I had somehow found her in the beginning. Not only did she confirm the refund had been issued, but when I told her it was still $50 short of my calculations she went through the entire bill and found I was owed even more money and credited it back to my card. She was very apologetic at how it had been handled, and said she would be reviewing communication policies because the third party entity that handles their bills caused this entire mess and also the person who did the actual refund on Jan 31st never notified me that it had been done. Because my statement had already cut I had no idea the credit was executed. I am revising my stars to 3 because of Danielle, but am still not happy with the surgeons' lack of follow up and being late to my surgery. read more

This review is for Kei. Nagatomo. Dr. Nagatomo is very personable, kind, respectful with excellent bedside manners. He performed Hernia Surgery on me in April, 2024. I found him to be caring and compassionate and a skilled practitioner. Since this was my first surgery ever I had many fears but after conversing with him, he put my fears to rest and I felt at ease. I did not experience pain after surgery, I find the personnel in the 40th Street office receptive, professional and friendly and the waiting time to be seen goes quickly. I remember one time, Dr. Nagatomo took more time than normal to get to my patient room and he sincerely apologized for his lateness, which I appreciated very much. I never leave a review be it a restaurant, a movie ANYTHING, but, because Dr Nagatomo used his skills, talent & perseverance he was able to save my wife from dealing with the deadly effects of sepsis that was starting to permeate throughout her abdominal cavity. Do not go here. I waited an hour and a half after my appointment time and finally left. The office was chaos. For the first hour I waited, there was ONE country/western song playing loudly. One man in the waiting room started playing something on his phone to drown out the repetitive country music song until an office assistant came out and asked him to turn his phone off. When I thought I would start crying, I asked them to please play a different song at least. After one hour and 15 minutes I asked how much longer, and I was told I would be next. Dr. Kei Nagatomo is the GREATEST surgeon in the world. He saved my sisters life this year, multiple times, and if it weren't for him we would have lost her. She had to get 19 surgeries in a couple months time and if it weren't for him she wouldn't have survived. Dr Johnson calmly listened to us and reviewed the information from ER where they stated my wife needed her gall bladder removed immediately. With the pandemic, we were very worried. Dr Johnson explained that he would prefer doing some tests to make absolutely sure this surgery was needed first and thank God he did. My wife had an pylori infection and severe intestinal inflammation. She still has her gall bladder and is improving thanks to Dr Johnson. read more

They took over billing for a doctor from Honor health. I was in the hospital on 1/20/2018 and they didn't bill my insurance tell 5/2019. When I called and complained they told me that they had billed my insurance, when I called my insurance they did not actually bill them. I then called them back and they said that they didn't actually bill them and that they would. Of course my insurance is going to decline them because they are pass the year limit. Now I received a bill saying my insurance paid me, however They didn't actually bill my insurance and my insurance. I called and left a message on 6/5/19 and they never called me back. They now send me another bill saying my insurance has paid me, yet my insurance still has not received a bill from them. If you have a choice do not use them. read more

So over a year ago my wife had surgery and this is who they sent her to. Surgery went fine everything was fine, doctor was nice. Then the same old thing happens where you don't get a bill and all of a sudden you're sent to collections for a bill you never knew existed. So you reach out to collections and the surgery center to tell them that you want to pay it but collections has the wrong dollar amount than the surgery center. So you try to get that fixed before you pay them. Valley surgical sends all their billing to India there's no communication between the two, and you can't get it straightened out. As you're trying to get it straightened out, the collections agency continues to call and harass you when you've already straighten the bill out with the surgical center. By the way the collections center is full of less than nice, angry, bitter humans. This place gets a one star because my wife wasn't murdered during surgery and the doctor is nice. Enjoy. read more

Not sure how I feel about this place. There is a lot of Doctors in this office, 15 names on the door. First appointment was great, Doctor didn't jump to cut me. She was very kind, personal and put me at ease. Made follow up and was booked with a different Doctor. His take was, paraphrased... can't really judge since I did not see it first. Book the other Doctor if it flares up again or doesn't go away, don't know what it is unless we cut in... Just a little stymied on why reception did not highly suggest I see the first Doctor for follow up since it seemed important? If my mass does not go away, I will book the first Doctor for follow up and add to this review. If it goes away... I leave this office with a feeling of: a medical anomaly and a low opinion on personal customer service. read more

I am reviewing Valley Surgical Clinic and Dr. Ramalingam's philosophy in dealing with patients, and not his medical expertise. That's because I left his office after significant time spent in a room where he was a "no show." His medical assistant took me in at the time of my appointment, and told me "He'll be right here. Just hang on a minute." Sure enough time went by, and more time, and finally I decided to go ask someone what was going on. The office staff seemed to treat my concern as a regular occurrence with Dr. Ramalingam. "He still has other patients to see before you . . . " Wow. I don't know why this doctor treats people like that, but it sure isn't something I'd inflict on someone in my business. Can't you send a medical assistant back in every ten or fifteen minutes just to keep the patient "warm" to the process? To just close the door and desert the "customer" seems a very strange practice. This guy clearly practices the "Doctor as God" philosophy. I got up, warned them I'd leave if no one would provide me with help, and when no one came ten minutes later, I left. read more

When you leave a message it says that call will be returned within 24 hours. I have yet to have a call returned. I'm in need of a surgery to avoid another ER visit. I set up and had my appointment. Per their request needed blood drawn. Completed the immediately after my appointment. Doctors assistants don't return calls. When you I actually reached someone they told me they were waiting on my insurance to approve. Called insurance the next day to rush it through. Insurance had not received anything from them. Called back multiple times again to get in touch with the assistant only to be told now that the doctor wanted to look at my blood work before he would send the request to insurance. So why tell me one thing and then change it the next day? Giving a two star ONLY because Dr Hillmann himself was extremely nice and very personable. The staff including his assistant are completely worthless. read more
