Dr. Mark and team members are the best! They are familiar with my dog's needs and provide extra care to calm my dog's anxiety.

No wait, clean facility, and very professional staff. Four stars instead of five only because I thought they were expensive.

First, I experienced significant difficulty obtaining my dog's prescription. After a week of unsuccessful attempts to have it written and sent, and several unproductive interactions with the front desk, I ultimately had to escalate the matter before it was resolved. The process felt unnecessarily complicated and poorly managed. Second, the hospital's prescription policy creates inconvenience for pet owners. If you choose to fill your pet's medication at an external pharmacy--which is often more affordable--they do not send prescriptions directly. Instead, you are required to pick up a paper copy in person. This adds logistical burden and makes it harder for pet owners to access cost-effective options. Additionally, I was asked to complete a second round of blood work before my dog could be prescribed his medication, despite his lab results having come back normal just a couple of weeks prior. While I understand that safety protocols are important, the request felt excessive given the recent normal results and added additional cost and stress. Overall, these experiences have left me feeling that administrative and clinical policies are not structured with efficiency or client convenience in mind.

Their online scheduling system has gotten easier to use and the medication refill line always has quick turnaround. The staff there are also very caring. When my dog was sick with kidney disease a few years ago they helped us manage it for as long as we could with a prescription diet and eventually gave us end of life options/lab checks as we planned our goodbye. I'm grateful for the care they provided him and continue to provide for my aging cat.

Unethical business and they do not care about your animal's wellbeing:…read more I am writing this to warn other pet owners about the shocking lack of empathy and professionalism we experienced at Suburban Animal Hospital during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Our dog recently had an ultrasound for concerning stomach issues. The vet called to deliver devastating news: possible cancerous tumors. As any distraught pet owner would, we spent the call asking questions to understand the treatment options and the gravity of the diagnosis. It contained three separate options, each one complex with surgical costs on the table, so we wanted to ensure we had a grasp of what lies ahead. At the 30-minute mark, Dr. Gasper abruptly told us she "had to go" and was belitting that we could not seem to gain complete clarity on the recommendations. When my husband, understandably shocked and visibly frustrated, asked why, she stated that "it's already been half an hour" and could not continue to clarify his treatment options. When he asked to finish the consultation so we could leave knowing our next steps, Dr. Gasper refused. From this point on, the remaining conversation understandably turned contentious and was shortly ended. Later that day, Dr. Gasper chose the following course of treatment for our dog: Retaliatory Termination of Care: A few hours later, we received an email stating they were terminating care for our dog effective immediately due to a "harsh phone conversation." Patient Abandonment: When we asked for the best way to transition to effective treatment now that our dog is in a medical crisis, they chose not to respond or help. They simply sent over his records. A veterinarian's primary duty is care to the animal and to abandon one during a potential cancer finding because of a disagreement with the owner reveals this hospital's priorities. If they actually cared about our dog, this disagreement would have easily been settled once they allowed us to take in the devastating news and gain clarity around our options. Instead, we hit a time limit, got frustrated, and got fired. Now that we have found better care at Clarendon Animal Hospital, we are happy to never return here.

The owner talked about how the ticket only said wash and nails. I could leave the dog there for the rest of the day and they would do it but my dog hadn't really needed it. The owner went on to say that if I wanted to bring my dog back in 3-4 weeks, she would just do just the haircut. 4 weeks later, I set up an appointment for just a haircut, and confirmed it right then and there - just a haircut. Yes, they understood. I then confirmed again when I dropped the dog off. They understood. When I picked them up, they had done a full groom, which looked fine but wasn't what i asked for. The owner implied I had misunderstood, but wouldn't address that she had said I could come back for just a cut, and she would not answer questions about why her staff had agreed repeatedly to just a cut. She just kept saying she didn't understand the confusion, and I had to pay $150 because they had done a full groom. she wasn't even aware of how much they charged for a full groom at first. She discounted 20%. Her response to me saying I wouldn't be bringing her my business anymore was, "That's fine". This business is not registered with the BBB. I recommend you go elsewhere, but get everything in writing if you bring your animal here.

Care was adequate for two different dogs over six years or so. But during one visit, we asked about a lump on our dog's side. The tech said she'd let the doctor know and took our dog away for the exam without us. Which is weird. We eventually met the doctor when she returns with the dog, and the doctor is talking about a completely different part of the dog's body from where we'd asked about. Fortunately, it wasn't serious, but playing telephone like that without notes or photos seems risky. They also stopped providing boarding.

I brought him to Fairfax Animal Hospital for what I understood to be a small, single area procedure that Dr. Catherine Curry and I discussed The first thing I said at consult was "Miles has diabetes." It never came up again. Pricing was quoted at $2,800 to $3,000. I explained I had $2,000 on CareCredit. I was told "we can do that." No clear discussion of staging. I understood this as a focused treatment with maybe a few extractions The only debrief I ever got from the surgeon was a text: "He did great. We took 35 teeth! He has 6 left." No surgeon conversation at pickup. A tech handed him over. No diabetes specific plan. No warning about the critical tripwire for a senior diabetic after oral surgery: if he refuses a meal it is an emergency. That rule was never said, written, or confirmed Discharge said appetite loss for 24 to 48 hours was "not unusual." They prescribed carprofen, an NSAID that can cause nausea and is labeled "give with food," with no anti nausea med and no "hold if not eating" instruction. I went home believing recovery would be hard but safe. The dangers Miles was in was not communicated at all to me! When he refused meals, I thought it was normal recovery. I was never told how the rules changed for a diabetic senior after such a surgery. By Day 11 I called and reported weakness and minimal intake. I was told to email because the doctor was busy. No ER escalation advice. Miles died the next day at home In hindsight: no candidacy or risk disclosure, no consent to a scope change, no surgeon debrief, no diabetes focused plan, no tripwire warning, and meds without safeguards. Had I been told the truth, that as many as 35 teeth might be removed and that a missed post op meal is an ER level emergency for a 14 year old diabetic, I would not have agreed to surgery In my opinion, this was not just poor communication, it shows a disregard for obvious diabetic red flags. I feel grossly misled, and Miles paid the price
