Choosing a new auto shop is a difficult task. I know very little about cars, and it seems like…read morealmost everything related to cars is very unfriendly to women, or maybe to people in general. So I looked on Yelp to find a place in the area that had good reviews. Pleasant Street Auto only had two reviews, but they also took the time to post their own description. And, I liked the range of photos (I'll admit that I was a bit charmed by the photo of someone spray-painting a dinosaur) and the notion that there would be a place to sit and do work, comfortably, not literally sitting outside on a curb as I've had to do on occasion in the past. I was not a great customer up front, I'll admit. I completely forgot our first appointment, and then I became lost on my way for the remedial appointment. Throughout, the staff was patient and professional with me. I can't say a word about the garage/work area because I never saw it, which felt a little odd, but I could certainly get used to it! I don't have the slightest idea what the machines and tools are for, anyway, and so I don't know that seeing and hearing mechanics work really enhances my experience. Instead, I left my car and keys and waited inside. The front desk manages repair work, body work, and also Hertz rentals. When I made my oil change appointment, I was a little worried that I might have a serious issue discovered, and I might therefore need to rent a car. If this had been necessary, I could have managed it all at one location. Convenient! The oil change didn't seem to take all that long. I should have timed it, but I didn't. I think the total wait - even though I was late for my appointment, was well under an hour. During that time, I tried to take advantage of the homey waiting area with a t.v. (though the cable was stutteringly-intermittent), WIFI that didn't seem to work at all, and computers with internet service that required someone to come in and fix it for it to work at all. The computers were kind of old, dodgy, and dirty, but I was able to do some work, which was great. For families, there are toys and books (for kids and adults) and an area for children to hang out and play. I can only imagine that, since the space is open and adjacent to the desk area, it's not much fun for staff when the space gets "active," but it's very nice an accommodating. Overall, this is a huge leap over sitting on a solitary chair in a drafty space next to a noisy garage, or as said, literally sitting on a curb because there's no indoor seating at all. The best bit was that Lee, I believe a member of the family who runs this business, came out to speak with me personally while they were finishing up with the car. He spoke with me in language that I could understand, but not with condescension. There were a number of potential issues with the car, and he prioritized them for me, but he didn't make me feel pressured in any way. I feel like Yelp helped me to find a great fit for a new auto shop, and it's a great relief. I'd highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to feel confident about a family-run business that is professional, caring, and extremely well-rounded in terms of services available at a single location. With comfort, too! Great, great experience overall.

My longtime mechanic had retired, and I wasn't sure where to go next until I discovered D&G Auto Repair on Yelp! In August 2025, I brought my car in for brake service (pads and rotors replacement). From the very beginning, I felt I was in good hands. Paulo, the manager, responded to my Yelp inquiry almost immediately. He was professional, kind, and attentive. He listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything in a clear, respectful way, something I truly appreciate. I felt a strong sense of trust that he genuinely cared about my car and my safety. When I arrived at the shop, Paulo was just as professional and kind in person. He made me feel confident in my choice to use to D&G Auto Repair. After I left my car, he followed up via text with an estimated bill before starting any work, which gave me peace of mind and control over the process. The shop itself is small but clearly run by expert technicians, and the waiting room is clean and comfortable, a nice bonus! I returned yesterday with a question about a noise I'd heard. Tony, one of the technicians, came out and personally walked around my car with me. He pointed out how clean it looked and even asked about repairs I had done elsewhere. He gave me a mini lesson on body repair which was surprisingly enlightening. He then gave me directions to the nearest Auto Parts store and Car Wash. That kind of extra care is rare and so appreciated. On 6/23/25 I Bobby Falco drove my Kia Soul into SpeeDee oil change 1587 South Main St. Athol, MA…read more to get an oil change. Their tech Sabastian, Dylan and manager Mike serviced my car. They also looked at my air conditioning, but the air conditioning was not serviced. I drove off their lot and onto South Main St. Athol to rt. 2 heading east to Leomimser, MA, on my return trip from Leomimser on rt 2 west the car had no power. I sat in my car on rt. 2 waiting for AAA, for an hour and 15 min. Then I received a called from MA state police, the state police officer said my car must be towed. State police called T.J. & Sons auto repair and towing 537 West Broadway Gardner, MA and they towed my car to 216-218 Mill St Gardner, MA Duval garage. Mechanic Cody Duval checked over my car battery and starter, all was good but when he checked the oil dipstick it was dry. No oil on dipstick then he looked under the car and found no oil drain plug was installed, no trace of oil discharge anywhere under the car. At that time Mr. Duval called and I inform him that I had an oil change at SpeeDee in Athol, MA. He called SpeeDee and spoke with manager Mike to explain the situation. Mike then asked for my car to be towed to SpeeDee in Athol, MA so it was on 6-24-25 by AAA. I called SpeeDee on that day 6-24-25 at 2pm and Mike confirmed it arrived. On Wednesday 6-25-25 I called and spoke to Mike he said he would get to it later that day. At 4:15 Mike called and said "I agree with Mr. Duval's finding, there is no oil or plug. Tomorrow my boss and owner Dave Sarnarnuky will be in and together we will come up with a plan to replace your car's motor." I asked how long it would take before I got my car back. Mike said "first he had to file a claim with their insurance company, with Dave his boss signing off on it. But all in all about 1 or 2 weeks and our licensed mechanic would do all the work to cut down on our expenses. Next day, Thursday, 6-26-25 Mike hadn't called so I called SpeeDee, Lisa answered and said "Mike couldn't come to the phone." After waiting all day I drove their at 4:15pm with my mom Anita Falco and found out Mike had the day off. Manager Jesse said that Mike has every Thursday off. My mom then called the owner Dave 978-618-7102 but only got his voicemail so we left a message with our contact information and the reason for our call. Dave did not return our call. Friday Morning 6-27-25 at 10am Mike called to say they would not repair the car because it wasn't towed to them first but my mom pointed out the State Police towed the car. Then Mike said any further conversion should be with his boss Dave. We have both called Dave repeatedly with no call back from him. Now some insight on me Bobby Falco. I am a 36 year-old man with cerebral palsy, my mom Anita Falco is a 69 years old retired school teacher, and my dad passed away. My mom has been helping with the back and forth conversations partly because of my speech and partly because I work daily. This is a huge problem with my independence as I now have no transportation. I went to SpeeDee oil for what is considered a simple oil change and now with no fault of mine my engine is seized and now I have no running car. It doesn't seem like anyone will help me.
