This place almost wrecked my engine and I will never be going back. I went in for an oil change and 2,000 miles later there were metallics found in the fluid. I took it to a proper mechanic immediately and they found debris from the wiring harness being shoved into the oil filter housing. In turn, the debris was sucked into the oil filter and stopped the filter which caused the system not to flow properly. This place should feel ashamed of themselves to have been so lousy at their job. The fact that I had to go to a mechanic and pay $200 for them to tell me that these guys caused the issue is ridiculous. Thank god I took it in because this place could've costed me thousands of dollars to replace my engine. My suggestion is to just go to an actual mechanic in Clemson, SC for even just an oil change since clearly these guys are careless and don't give a shit about the people who come in. They just take your money and say everything's good. read more

Good experience here. $36 for basic oil change. Quick, professional, kind, and straightforward. They'll try to up sell you on a bunch of stuff, but just say no thanks and they'll drop it. I'll definitely come back. They check lights/tires too, for free. Recommend. read more

Under new ownership. First of all, I overheard someone ask about where the previous owner was and instead of Valvoline personel advising they had purchased it from him, they stated "He's no longer affiliated with this location." It almost made it sound like he had done something wrong and been canned... which was not the case... I don't understand why they said it like that. I have done business there for years with the previous owner and had never been treated anything but great! Secondly, all the extras that were previously offered, washed windshields, and vacuumed floor-boards are a thing of the past - the new company doesn't offer any of this. Third, they don't carry the brand oil that I use. I could substitute it (and pay the difference) with the previous owner. Now, they only offer the Valvoline (which I don't care for). They'll knock off a few bucks if you bring your own but that's going to be an expensive oil change when you have to buy it and then just get a small credit since you're not using their Valvoline! I was happy to see that they had kept a lot of the same crew that had been there previously - they had taken good care of me in the past. The services that were provided this last service were done well (it was just so much less that they are no longer doing). I was also happy to hear that they had gotten raises from the new owner... but my regular oil change was almost $14 MORE than it had been previously (and I let them put Valvoline in it because I wasn't prepared with what I really wanted, combined with the fact that they are no longer washing windshields or vacuuming floorboards anymore). My biggest complaint is that they don't provide the oil brand that I want in the car that has been serviced at this location for years. I feel like that choice is a complete disregard for the customer and the customer's preferences. I guess next time I will go to the original Havoline in Clemson because I can get what I want there. read more

I went to get an oil change, and when they were checking my transmission oil they mishandled my transmission oil dipstick tube. They then told me the tube was broken and was cut in the past because the metal had a clean break, which was not the case. The part cost $10 online and my boyfriend fixed it for free for me. I'm giving them a 3 star because they should've been more careful with the part. It's unclear if they were the cause of it being broken or the last place I got it done at. read more

Similar experience as the prior reviewer when I arrived (no one acknowledged me or gave instruction). However, once they took me in, everything was fine. Fast enough and everyone was friendly. Plus, they gave me a free car wash b/c some oil spilled on the undercarriage. I may have never known, so it wasn't something they had to do. I'll come back. read more

I have been going to this place strictly for oil changes for over a year now since I moved here. I have always gone throughout the week and end up with the same young nice guys and they really do a great job. Over the weekend I went to get an oil change and it was one of the fastest experiences i've had, so I was happy about it. When I got home and got out of my car I realized I smelled burning and happened to get a call from the location I was just at. One of the mechanics who was in charge of dropping my hood and giving me the ok to leave had forgotten to put the cover back on after changing my oil, therefore there was oil EVERYWHERE. When I went back and they lifted my hood with smoke rolling out, they realized that the O-ring had completely snapped in half, which was not their fault and I am not complaining about that. However, the first thing I hear the guy under the hood say was "well it wasn't my fault" then after everything was cleaned up and replaced the same guy says that the o-ring was defective then proceeds to say "so it's a good thing i forgot to put that cover on" and laughs in my face about it. He was a grown man and I was just disappointed that he was laughing in a college students face about a dangerous situation that was extremely bound to happen, especially with what all had happened just during the two minute drive home. The girl who was there was nothing but supportive and I truly felt bad that she had to deal with someone like him during work, and I honestly love going to the guys who are there all the time but this man just needs to watch what he says and pay attention at the least because he is better off. read more

When I drove my car up there was no one there to come talk to me about what I wanted. They just looked at me while I sat in my car. Had to go inside to finally talk to someone. When my car finally got in, the oil change took longer than it should. Though the price of the oil change wasn't horrible, but have gotten it cheaper from other places. read more

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Worst customer experience ever!! Got there at 4:43 PM today. A man came walking out in slow motion, and informed me he couldn't get to me today. I've been coming here since you opened with my 4 vehicles. Only had a small window to get my wife's car serviced, and I tried to explain that to the gentleman. He didn't want to hear it. He turned away, and walked off!!! Really! Went to the place an exit down, and they took care of me. You should know this guy is running off business!! Two cars were in the shop. One was about to be finished. Never seen this guy before, but please be aware of this type of rude customer service. The place across from Walmart gets all my business from now on. read more

Every time I come the employees act like it's not there job to change the oil in your car it take at the least 30 mins. And one time I came they tried to tell me that I used to have premium oil in my car after they had already filled my car with the regular oil. My daughter is a college student and had a head light bulb changed the day before at a local gas station. This morning she notices the light is out again, so she went to this Valvoline instead. They replaced the light bulb for free and it was done quickly. She was grateful. Now if the light goes out again, we'll have a dealer look at the wiring, but she was very grateful for the quick and efficient service since she had more classes later in the day. I initially came in to get an oil change. When one of the employees hooked up the reader to my engine, they found other work needed to be done. He gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done and the prices for everything. I waited about an hour and a half, but they did a lot of work to my car and had other customers during this time. They rotated my tires, cleaned the fuel system, replaced the automatic transmission fluid, and did a conventional oil change. During checkout, I showed the employee a $5 off coupon from their website. Before he scanned that, he asked if I'm a Clemson student (which I am). He gave me 10% off the whole service, which saved me about $25. The employees here truly care about their customers, especially since most of them are Clemson students who want the best deal possible for top-notch service. I will definitely be coming back here to get another oil change in the future. read more

The guys there were nice but they failed to put oil back in my car during an oil change. I got about 100 yards down the road and had to pull over and have a friend bring me oil. Brought the car back and instead of a refund they just gave me a voucher for a free oil change. I ended up out almost $60 for an oil change that may have caused lasting damage to my engine. read more

this valvoline store has terrible workmanship. when i took my jeep in to have a simple headlight replacement, they did not full secure the new light. it came loose and fused to the headlamp housing, melting it and rendering it unusable for future installments. cost for a new headlamp housing: $120. thanks valvoline. my mother took her volvo in for an oil change. a few months later the oil tank was bone dry, with no sign of a leak anywhere. we took it to sears for an oil change, and it turns out that the workers at valvoline did not properly seat the gasket. thanks valvoline, that could have destroyed the engine. zero professionalism and lazy or ignorant work that actually results in damage to your vehicle. i would give them no stars in this rating if i could. avoid this store at all costs. read more
