They frequently turn away customers with lame excuses. They turned me away yesterday, stating its too close to closing to take do an oil change, note it was 10 minutes til closing, but it was still during business hours, I then drove to the valvoline on old hickory blvd they were still serving the customers that got in line before closing. And I was told that one of their previous customers were turned away from rivergate because they claimed they didn't have the customers synthetic blend oil... today i spoke with another customer at the old hickory who said he was turned away because they claimed they did not have any air. Note at opening the old hickory valvoline had a line through the parking lot because they are amazing, so avoid rivergate and go to old hickory valvoline or choose a different company to do your oil change. Im now at jiffy lube getting my oil changed because they can do the work and are happy to have my business they have expressed appreciation for my business, im not brand loyal especially when I they are not loyal to me. read more

This Valvoline Instant Oil Change spot is my normal go-to for quarterly oil changes and fluid top offs. While the lines can get quite long, the staff does a good job communicating expectations of wait times and keeping the lines moving. Longest I have had to wait has been about 30 minutes, which is what was quoted when I pulled in. Pricing is fair and the offerings are plentiful relating to all the filters, plugs, wipers, etc...that are normal to have checked during an oil change. They run the full gamut of check-up on your car with checking all filters, fluids, lights and even the horn. Overall, solid spot with good service. This has to be the worst Valvoline oil I've ever been to and I've been really loyal going to only Valvoline, but I'm about to make a change. I'm appalled that I went in last week and got a oil change since then all I've had going on on my dash is low oil low oil low oil I had to go buy a quart of oil to keep it going till I can get back there. I go there today. I'm waiting. There are no cars in line, there are three cars in the base, I wait for 15 minutes. Nobody says a word no one says lineup in this bay or that bay, then another truck comes beside me. They finish one of them in front of him and they call him in and I'm blown away by this customer service there sucks.so now, I still have an issue that doesn't get resolved. I couldn't be more ticked off about these guys management. It's downright pathetic and should be changed. read more

The service is awful people there do not even know what they are doing, 04/22/2025 I came here at 4 pm and left around 6 two hour wait, they did not do anything to the other cars 3 of them just stood there for good 30 mins nothing was done. I'm currently in what seems to be a week long battle between myself and this poor excuse of a business. Arrived at 5pm on Friday 10/11 for a quick oil change. They now use an EVAC pump to empty your oil, as they went to pull it out it got stuck, they yanked it out, it broke into my engine and they couldnt get it out. I sat in my car while they yanked and pulled on my engine for 15 minutes, no one making eye contact with me. Someone finally comes to tell me what happened and that in order to drop my oil pain to retrieve the broken piece that's stuck, my exhaust is in the way so they have to tow it to Firestone and fix it. After 3 hours, the assistant manager Charlie didn't even call a tow truck then proceeded to tell me that his off site manager, Cornelius said I would have to pay for the tow truck to then be reimbursed later. Absolutely not. I filed a claim with their customer service, haven't received a claim number or a follow up. STILL haven't received any type of information or phone call from Cornelius, their general manager, on any sort of time frame or game plan. Had to drive to Firestone myself and they were more than happy to fill me in and give me a time frame. No one will get me in contact with a supervisor or anyone who will do something and compensate my time. I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY CAR. they won't reimburse the mileage I'm using on my boyfriend's car while I wait for mine to be done. They don't even seem sorry. It's a gross excuse of a place and I will make sure everyone knows of this experience. read more

Serpentine belt broke on my 5.7 v8. Leaving me with hardly no brakes and no power steering. Your tech Jason came out on a Sunday evening and inspected the motor and found no other issues but the belt broke. He put a new belt back on the motor and I was ready to roll had brakes and power steering. I was ready to roll the next morning to Nashville to my job. Thanks Jason and American Mobil service for coming out on a Sunday evening and fixing my van so I could be on time tomorrow. I will definitely call y'all back if I have any other issues with my van. read more

Avoid unless you want to have to figure out how to undo the damage they do to your vehicle. They stripped the transmission fill plug on my vehicle, and then claimed it was like that on arrival. Even though they were clearly down there wailing on it it for a while, and they're the only ones that have serviced the transmission in over three years. And they've 'serviced' it numerous times in that period. Now I still didn't get my fluid change, and I have to find a shop willing to tackle this thoroughly stripped nut. And they are completely comfortable lying straight to your face about it. I've been coming here for years but never again. Too bad I can't add pics on Yelp or I'd show you. Brad was great and super helpful! I'm not the most "auto-savvy" girl so I came in to have them top off the coolant in my car- i didn't have to wait long, the process took 5 minutes, and then he even cleaned the hood of my car from where he had left a little smudge! Will be back for future car needs. read more

Updating my review. After the manager msg me I took a chance again. This is actually the third time since the bad experience. And what a difference!!! I waited the normal wait for a car so about 10min. I do not like the extra selling of service, but I guess that's their job. read more

They the worst place to go! they wont tell you if they strip a bolt, until all your fluid leaks out and then tell you they can't do nothing about it...So now my transmission messed up thanks to Havolyin because the first and only time I get them to flush my transmission now it's empty and don't worry they not gone fix it because i have a 2009 Nissan rogue (older model) they not gone fix it thanks a lot havolyin!!! read more

A fabulous manager runs a pretty tight ship. The only difficulty is that you have long wait times. There were two cars in front of me and I waited approximately an hour. When it came my turn they were very thorough. If you were in the military ask for military discount it's worth it. read more

After getting a transmission fluid change service by Shannon and a few other employees, which took 40 minutes, a "High Transmission Fluid Temp" alert kept returning to my dash after driving on the highway. I first contacted Myatt Dr, to have them look at it, and they topped me off with more fluid. The alert popped up again, and this interaction of returning and getting topped off with more fluid happened again 4 more times over the course of three days. The second to last time, Kavin filled my transmission fluid up all of the way. The alert popped up again, and he reset my alert and explained there was no more physical space for fluid. The next day, it alerted on my way to Georgia from Nashville, I called Valvoline and was directed to a Valvoline local to me at the time. They noticed a leak within 2 minutes, and advised me to the dealership down the road to have it serviced ASAP. I took it to the Toyota dealership to get it fixed, and it was deemed not drivable in its current state. The mechanics explained that the Valvoline workers overfilled my transmission fluid, which costed me over $2000 in damages. Despite the dealership mechanic explaining this and it being explained on the invoice, this Valvoline location decided they were not liable and said it was bad luck that my car had to be serviced at a mechanic, because the coolant lines were old and faulty. I have a 2010 Lexus Rx350, and I just bought it used in April. Prior to purchasing, I had it fully diagnosed by a mechanic, which showed nothing about faulty coolant lines. It has been an unpleasant experience trying to get ahold of any of the managers, they took days to call me back, and didn't call me back at all for some. I've had to contact the BBB and take matters into my own hands, despite the proof they caused the damages. I can't say I recommend going to Valvoline, especially this location. read more

I have been using this location for several years and I am fairly satisfied with them, I normally provide my own oil filter and oil for my Audi only because they don't usually Stock them and it's cheaper when I provide my own. My only issue is they always try and upsell me which I don't like otherwise their work is OK. read more

Just waited sitting in my car for about two hours to get a simple, basic oil change. No estimated time given. Made me switch with other cars twice, resulting in others who arrived after me getting serviced sooner. And, no apology for the delay or anything at the time. Longest oil change ever! Took us an hour for a simple oil change! Employees seemed clueless - maybe they were all in training?! It took 3 people to answer every question on the computer. The chick leading our bay lied and said the tire pressure was checked by her but we knew it wasn't. They said they would "re-check them" and guess what - they added air! Yes, I'm giving this place 5 stars! I really hope someone at their corporate office happen to stumble upon this review because they need to know how nice the people are here. I've been here so many times and every single time, the service is exceptional! They are so kind and so respectful. I honestly have never been to an establishment where service is consistent every single time. I mean, most of us don't really expect much from an oil change place but when you encounter such good service, it's really awesome. I will never go to another place to get my oil changed even though it might be cheaper somewhere else because of the consistent quality service I get from here! read more

You better watch this place, I took my Volkswagen Jetta here for an oil change. Two days later I noticed something hanging down underneath the car. It was the cover that keeps road debris from getting in the engine area. I thought they left a screw out as this cover has to come off to perform an oil change. My daughter took the car back for me and they said oh ok we will fix it. They told her the cover hole was broken out and they "fixed" it with a zip tie! Really? It wasn't broken and hanging down when I brought it to you for an oil change!! Maybe you over tightened the screw and pulled the head through?!!?? I just noticed the long zip tie end hanging down to the ground! They didn't bother to clip off the excess!! If they are this dishonest on small stuff like this what other stuff are they not telling!! read more

As a woman, I already hate getting my oil changed. I went to this place with a new car. I knew I wanted regular oil and not synthetic. I told the guy (short, black guy) that I wanted regular. He kept saying that they recommend to synthetic. I understand that you recommend synthetic, because you get paid more, but I do not want it. He told me that if I didn't put in synthetic, that my car would probably mess up. I called my boyfriend, he said regular. I called the Nissan dealership, and they too, said regular is fine. I told the guy for the 500th time that I just wanted regular oil, and not synthetic. He still tried to sell me synthetic. Needless to say, I left without getting my oil changed. I will never visit another Valvoline again. read more

Any time you go through a chain oil and lube place, they'll try to up sell you into other things you need to do. This place really takes time to let you know what you're doing right as well. Last time I was here, my two yr old was asleep in the back seat and they talked softly and made it quick. Great service is worth paying for and Valvoline oil is much better than Penzoil to me anyways. Oh!!!!!...and they offer Yelp coupons!! #score read more

These are some of the genuinely nicest people. They had three or four people working on my vehicle and knocking everything out from head to toe with nothing but absolute professionalism. I am very disappointed with the treatment that my daughter received while trying to get her oil changed at this location. Wesley Baxter acted a total ass and sign his name to a policy that does not exist. He stated that he could not change her all that has gone 36000 miles over from the last time they changed it. Keep in mind my husband has been changing her oil in the meantime he acted a total ass and signed the invoice. Do not frequent this location and the district manager of Valvoline needs to do something about this hateful employee. I had the WORST experience with this company, and I would HIGHLY recommend not EVER going here, especially to this location! So, I went to Valvoline on a Sunday. I had been in a wreck a few months before, and there was damage to the front of my car. I had, before this incident, my emissions text AND an oil change by this company before at a different location. No one had any issues with opening the hood of my car, despite there being some damage to it from the wreck. I had a new guy, a guy with red hair and a ponytail, inflate my tires and all the good stuff they usually do right before they change your oil. When I pull up to get the oil changed, the guy had no issues with opening the hood. The process went smoothly, until he went to close the hood. There was a guy at the computer WHO QUESTIONED HIM ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THE HOOD WAS CLOSED ALL THE WAY!. The new guy said it was and I went on my way. About 30 minutes later I was on Briley and MY HOOD FLEW UP AND SMASHED MY WINDSHIELD! I tied it down as best as I could and drove back to the store. The manager on duty came out and tied my hood down properly, then called his manager and scolded the new guy,saying that that was why they check properly and not just say that everything was good. The manager was supposed to call me the following day, but didn't call until 3 days later and after I had called several times. She then blamed it on the previous damage. even though I had had my oil changed with the company in the past with the same damage and had no issue. I had even consulted other vehicle experts who said that if it was latched it would not have flown open. I DEFINITELY would not recommend going her ever. read more

I had my oil changed at this location on 10/15/15. About a month after my oil change I could hear something dragging under my car. It was the cover on my undercarriage that protects the oil pan area. It was hanging on by just two screws and snapped in half from where it started dragging. I'm disappointed that they didn't tighten the screws enough to keep this piece attached to my car. I called Valvoline and the person I spoke with said they would "check their cameras to verify their work and get back with you." Of course, no one called me back. Then just a week ago my cars information panel said my car needs an oil change. I've only driven about 4,000 miles since I was in, and I had them put in the synthetic oil that should allow my car to go about 10,000 miles. It makes me wonder if A- they didn't put the blend in that they charged me for or if B- they didn't reset my oil change counter. So, at this point, way sooner then my car would need to be serviced, I took my car to a trusted mechanic to get the oil changed again so that I can have piece of mind that it was done correctly. Imagine my disappointment when my mechanic told me they drained out only 5 quarts of oil from my car, when my Valvoline receipt says they charged me for 6 quarts. The whole experience with Valvoline has been very disappointing. I do not trust them with my car and I will not be going back. read more

On March 18th my husband took our 2013 Ford Escape to your location at 723 Myatt Dr. Madison, TN 37115 for an oil change. The car was about due and we were leaving the next morning for a team trip out of town. He left the oil change and returned to our home about 10 minutes away. The car did not move until late that evening and the engine default light came on. Everything was closed so we had to rent a vehicle to take on the trip as happened on Saturday night and we had to meet the team early the next day to get to our scheduled games. When we returned we took the vehicle to the dealership and they advised the oil was way overfilled which could cause major engine problems and the air filter and oil filter were not installed correctly. I have chosen Valvoline for our families 4 vehicles the last few years because our dealership is an hour away and unfortunately some of the other oil change stores were just as bad if not worse and I like the fact that I am in the car as the oil is changed. This time it showed employees that did not know how to do their job. The girl knew she spilled oil, didn't bother to wipe it up or rectify the situation and 2 guys tried to get the filter on before a 3rd employee half way put it on. I am not happy that I paid for lousy service much less the amount of money I am out from the dealership having to repair your mistakes, the car rental and the time it has taken me to find a car and take and pick up my car from the dealership. read more
