What started as an oil change and check for an oil leak turned into a $190 bill for someone to look at the car (5 minutes) to say "you have an oil leak around the filter". Well in December my truck was taken in for an oil change and all went well that day. Fast forward to today when I decided to do my own oil change... I guess Hercules was working that day in December! He decided to tighten the bolt way too much to the point where I couldn't get it off with a ratchet or a wrench. Now any "mechanic" or logical person knows that oil drain plugs don't need to be that tight at all. Kwik Kar is a good business if you never want to change oil yourself I suppose. So this was a tough review to write ... * great coupons * friendly counter staff * fully stocked waiting area w free coffee. * quick service So why the dilemma and only 2.5 *'s ??? - maybe an "oversell" on needing brake pads that the customer had just changed earlier in same week. While waiting for our oil change to be finished we watched a mechanic come out twice to speak with a customer, first offering synthetic oil for an up charge (no problems there) - but then coming out again and telling the customer his break pads in front where very thin and needed to be replaced - he held a green/red measuring tool on his hand - red shim extended to show thinness. The customer replied "no thanks - I just got my brakes done and I am almost sure it was the front ones". After his truck was done and he had left he comes back in with receipt in hand letting the counter manager know it was his front brakes he had done earlier that same week .... hmmm Counter mgr replied "well sometimes it is hard to see pad thickness without pulling off tire". Well maybe it was an honest mistake (but why bring out the red/green thickness tool showing the red). Just sharing what I witnessed ---- makes you wonder. read more

I took my car in for front brakes. Got told I needed cleaning and adjustment of rear brakes also and a lower control arm replacement. The front brakes are still squeaking occasionally one wk later and I have not tried to "seat" them going 60mph and putting them on until I am down to 10mph yet several times, should I have to do this? Secondly, after the cleaning and adjustment of rear brakes my parking brake which had 7-9 clicks was down to no clicks. Took additional trips to make them adjust this and I doubt it was done properly from reading about it you are supposed to adjust the shoes, not use the console cable (last resort) but it is now up to six clicks. Thirdly, I noticed after getting the car and driving it, it was slowly drifting to the left and then to the right, researching again on-line that the car should have been aligned after the lower control arm replacement. Called just now and they tell me yes, that is correct but it was not done because they don't do alignments. I asked them if they think I should have been told this. Rec'd a 10% discount from them for this work which is now eaten up in Uber fees to get to work while they have been working on said car and now going to have a whopper of an Uber fee to take the car in for alignment (which had just been done before taking it to this clown circus and now needed again). Does anyone else think you should have to Google search to see if repair work was done correctly? read more

My wife and I were in town visiting our daughter and realized we needed an oil change. My daughter has been a very satisfied customer for years so we gave them a try. These people are absolutely the best--from the greeting, completing the service quickly and at a very fair price and simply making you feel like family. We don't see this kind of hospitality and service up north very much. I ended up returning a few days later having noticed a vibration in the front end, knowing we were going to drive back to Chicago the next day. They checked the vehicle thoroughly, identified what could be the problem but concluded that it was likely not serious. They wouldn't even charge me for inspecting the vehicle. Needless to say we arrived back in Chicago safely, without incident. These folks truly define great customer service. Friendly, welcoming counter attendant, got me in quickly. That's worth a star. Then the upsales started; the mechanic came out and sat near me--he was in a mask, thankfully. I wanted an oil change; he wanted to add about three hundred dollars worth of filters and "cleaning" labor (fuel system, etc). I declined and said I wanted just the oil change. Within minutes, the counter attendant called me to the desk and said they were unable to change my oil, because Ford had made the F-150 oil hard to change; He suggested I go to the dealer for the oil change and handed me a card, just in case I needed anything else for my truck. A company named Kwik Kar Lube can't change the oil in America's most popular truck??? I wouldn't let these clowns wash my windshield. Stay Away! read more

I have been going to Kwik Kar Lube and Tune for some time now. They have yet to disappoint! They offer fast and affordable oil changes, as well as, affordable larger repairs! I have had my truck and car there for service multiple and have never been disappointed. Before going to a competitor, call and ask for a quote, it is likely that they will come in at an affordable level. Also, they use high quality parts! I've been here a bunch of times over several years with, I think, four different cars. I just use them for quick oil changes, but what's nice is that I have an older car that takes oddball oil, and they'll let me bring my own oil and filter and they'll knock out the labor part for me in their shop (as opposed to me doing it my garage) for about $25 plus tax, and usually in about 10-15 minutes. I can't recommend this place enough. Honest, professional mechanics that understand customer service as well. I had an oil change here and they were very pleasant and helpful. I felt welcomed to be there, so when my car broke down, I had it towed there. Long story short, they helped me figure out the issue was a recall and the dealers responsibility. They even helped me find a towing place to get it there at a good price. On top of that, they didn't charge me one cent. No one likes to see smoke coming out of their hood and out of the tail pipe, especially not on a newer car. That's exactly what happened after I took my car to Kwik Kar last night. I took it back to Kwik Kar this morning, and after 1 hour and 45 minutes they told me they had spilled oil on my engine and exhaust pipe. After driving it around some more, there's still smoke and that horrible smell. Now I have to take it to the dealership to assess the damage. What did Kwik Kar do to remedy this? 50% off my NEXT oil change. No immediate compensation for their mistake. I will not be returning, and will take legal action if necessary. If you have a European car, please, go somewhere else. read more

This place saved me. Had a tire blow out late night and had my car towed to Thomas at Kwik Kar. They are who I have been using for the basics since I've moved to nashville. I didn't realize they didn't specialize in tires but they helped me out anyway! They removed my tire, helped me find a place near by with a tire and allowed me to bring my tire to them, get a new tire on and then put my tire back on for me. This shop has my business for life! I am a single woman who drives an old car, a perfect opportunity for unsavory mechanics. Thomas, the general manager, made sure my problem was completely identified, and then fixed for no charge as a goodwill gesture. Thankfully it was a very small issue, but nonetheless he made sure I was driving a well working vehicle before I left his shop. I've been a customer for years, but after I bought a brand new SUV in 2018 I haven't been by in a year and a half. My new car came with free oil changes for 5 years, and initially I was happy. BUT after going to the dealership for service the last 18 months and hating every trip, I just couldn't take it anymore. The more I had to deal with the dealership, the more I missed Mr. Thomas and his guys. Kwik Kar's service cannot be beat. I called Kwik Kar to see if they could run diagnostics on my Range Rover since they are located next door from where I work. They took my car right in since I was leaving town the next day and told me what was wrong with it, but that it should be covered by Land Rover and I should take it to them to save money. Matt is AMAZING!!! I was having issues with my car and Kwik Kar was booked until Friday and instead of turning me away Matt had me come in. He came out and took a quick look at things. What I love is that he just didn't automatically tell me that it was something that was going to cost me an arm and a leg. We started with a simple oil change and he told me to come back if that did not resolve my issue. Thankfully it did! Just make sure when they or any shop tell you they have checked your fluid levels just do a double check bc I have found they do not top off like they confess too. It is true they are not the most reasonable for oil changes! Because they were so expensive for my 6 cylinder Chevy cruze I want be back! An oil change should not cost $53. and some change for about 4 quarts of oil and a filter. Maybe 5 quarts! They're about $10-15 off the mark! I like my money in my pocket and not anyone's else! My only problem with Kwik Kar is them not letting me know my anti freeze levels were dangerously low. This is one particular fluid level that is very important to your engine! The onlly good note is the manager is great, but it would have been nice to know this. Luckily I can sense my vehicle needs when driving when most just get in and drive. read more
