I only get my oil changed here and never have had to wait too long. The guys who work here are friendly, professional, and quick. They have a nice attitude, considering they work in that hot space all day long. I do think the manager should supply them with masks because they are breathing in a lot of fumes! Arrived, four other cars waiting outside the bays. Eventually one of the techs come out and gives me a number placard showing my position in line. Watched as all the techs assembled around the rear of one car when they couldn't get a brake light changed, all work stopped for 5 solid minutes. Average time for a car to finish was 30 minutes. Waited in line over 45 minutes before entering a bay. Tech performed the oil change, but "bottom tech" was lazy and not paying attention, top tech had to call out multiple times for getting the vehicle drained, oil filter installed, did not get replies or confirmation. Other top techs had same issue. One of the techs was actually hobbling around on crutches, but somehow he was more efficient than the others. Receipt shows tests that were not performed on my vehicle, such as checking the battery (nothing was ever hooked up to it). Sign outside advertises "fastest oil change in town" but that's false advertising -- should contact BBB. From arrival to departure I spent nearly 1 hour, 15 minutes at site. For $120, and no benefits, not even a free car wash like other places. Ugh. read more

Check your service and bill! We sent our 17-year-old son up there with a Groupon coupon for synthetic blend oil change. He should not have had to pay a single thing. That's why we got the Groupon! He came home with an $87 bill! They charged him for A full oil change with full synthetic blend. They never asked him what type of oil. Never looked at what he used previously. He was young and didn't really understand why he was getting a bill so he just paid it! When we tried to call and get the problem reserved they pushed us off to the general customer service. Wife went for specific items, oil change and headlight replacement. I checked all other lights minutes before she left, no problems. I informed her of the "extras" that Valvoline likes to add on to the bill. Like the Drain Plug & Gasket $3.99 + tax they say is needed every time getting an oil change. The dudes and dudette at the Valve are pretty decent fellows. They are friendly, responsive and they don't try to sell you in bullshit. They really just change your oil and ask you if you want to service other things. They show you areas for concern and don't attempt to sway you into crap you don't need. Perhaps they get the feel that I know my car. They are right. My only problem with the service is the price. It's so ridiculous but I pay it for the convenience of sitting in my car and being done within 30 minutes. The staff is beyond friendly and the customer service is beyond professional. My experience at Valvoline Instant Oil Change was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. As soon as I left their service my engine splash shield fell off, leaving me worried about potential damage to my engine. When I called to express my concern that I was unable to drive my car without it causing to spark, they told me there was nothing they could do and did not offer any apologies. It wasn't until my father called on my behalf that they finally decided to take action. I guess my call wasn't taken seriously enough. When someone came to remove the shield, there was again no sign of apology for the extreme inconvenience they had caused. I asked how this could have happened and they told me it was because my car was "cheap". Never did they mention any concern during the oil change, only when I was stranded on the side of the road. What's more concerning is that they claimed the splash shield didn't need to go back on. I understand it's not a crucial element to the function of my car, however it does serve an essential role in protecting my engine from water and dirt. Their lack of understanding and care for my cars safety left me feeling uneasy about the level of expertise at this establishment. I will certainly never be returning to any Valvoline, at any location, and will be advising all of my friends and family to seek other options for oil changes. read more

The staff were kind and professional and kept me updated throughout the process by telling me what was going on and not just telling me, but showing me what was recommended for my vehicle to ensure good operation and safety of my vehicle. I wish I could comment on their service but I never received any. I was laying in line for 40 minutes when a technician came to my window and said they would not be able to get to me today. He recommended I come back at 8am. I get that they can only do so many cars in a day. However, they should put a sign up in their parking area indicating "closed" so cars do not pull up and wait at 5pm and they close at 6pm. They should at least have some sort of system in place or offer a special coupon for people you screw over that have to leave without being serviced. Poor management. read more

My inspection was up in December. I didn't realize it until New Year's Day. I went there to get my car inspected. They told me something was wrong with my passenger side window and it wouldn't pass inspection... but if I went and got 40$ in cash for them in addition to paying for the inspection, they would pass me. I actually debated it, but went to a real mechanic and got inspected and passed with no trouble. I wouldn't write a yelp review unless something seriously troubled me. This place used to be good. Now everytime you go in the insist something needs to be done to the car or replced before it will pass inspection. They typically will tell you your wipers need replacing, this time they tried telling me my rearview mirror needs replacing due to "discoloration". The rearview mirror doesn't have any discoloration, one corner has obvious peeling on the edge and thats it, nothing that would interfere with visualizing whats behind you. Wouldn't be a big deal but they passed the car last year with the mirror in the same exact condition and this year the guy was a total douche about it. Definitely won't be back. read more

I came here for my dreaded inspection. I had called ahead and they mentioned there was a 30 minute wait. I pulled up and was told to wait, there was a car in front of me. I did wait about the 30 before I was told my car was next and after that it was no more than 15 minutes. Which is great considering I did not have an appointment like a lot of places need. And they were busy from what I could see from the other 2 garage doors. Overall great group of guys. Patient, friendly, and looks like they want to keep their word. This place is terrible. I came here for a quick oil change after I stopped going to my dealership for oil changes. First one went fine. A few months later I came back for a second oil change. They said they couldn't replace my filter because the filter cap was stripped and they couldn't get it off. They told me to go back to my dealer and maybe they could replace it for me. Umm.. no, you're going to replace it for me because the filter cap was fine before I started coming here. After a back and forth discussion, they finally agreed to replace the filter cap at no charge, but I had to wait a week because they needed to order it. I'll never return. This was a few months ago. I got there for quick oil change, my car was fine no low tier, on broken light nothing.i jut wanted oil change. So they started checking my car and they tried to add some air into my front tire , and they broke tier valve . So they told me that tire shop is 2 minuets a way and they'll fix it for me in 10 minuets . I said okey no problem i can wait. I didn't know that i had to pay for everything. So they removed my tire and ask me to take the tire to the shop, I said okey but who's going to pay for repair? The(Scott bunnenger , manager) told me it was already broken and he's not responsible for anything. I asked ( nicely) when I brought the car , the car was okey? He said yes . I asked why I have to pay for something I didn't even touch , and also nobody informed me about any possible damages. I didn't told them to check or add anything besides oil change. My point is that the manager scott was soo mean and angry , he started cursing and he was telling me he's not responsible. When they broke my tier valve they didn't even say sorry . If I could give this place a negative rating I would. Hours after leaving Valvoline on Dolson Avenue in Middletown my dashboard was lit up like the Fourth of July. I was on my way to a different state when my check engine came on, my traction control was unavailable, my four-wheel-drive service light came on as well as my lane assist malfunctioning. Not knowing much about cars I panicked and took it to the dealership where I bought it being that it's a 2020 show room brand new car. After paying a diagnostic fee of $200 they told me that Valvoline never put my air filter caps back on so there was no airflow to the engine. Fortunately the dealership was able to replace the caps and fix all of the error codes that caused by a Valvoline Oil chang. after physically going into the store with my bill from the dealership expecting to be reimbursed said at the minimum for all of the issues they had caused and the potential harm I was at risk for, they offered me a free oil change at my next service. They didn't even offer to pay the bill that they had cost me. Beware of this Valvoline they're incompetent and have no idea what they're doing they're too busy talking amongst themselves and joking about who is a better salesman and who can "sell water to a fish". read more

I am not going to give less stars based on my treatment today from JULIAN! He, as an employee and human being, deserves ZERO STARS! I have been coming to the Dolson location for years. For the most part, the men here are quite polite and well mannered. JULIAN, however is very rude and could use a reality check. I asked to have my car inspected he advised I needed an appointment and it wouldn't be until the first week of November. I said that's fine and then he just stood there and said nothing. It felt as though I was interrupting his day and bothering him. I said, ok so can I make an appointment?? JULIAN exclaims to me YEA GIVE ME A MINUTE! proceeds to walk to the car behind me mumbling under his breath and mask. I said, you know i can still hear you right?!....JULIAN- "yea i Know". I asked him what his problem was and his response and justification for his profound rudeness was because i was "CLAPPING MY HANDS" AND that I was rude first. I asked to speak to the manager who assured me JULIAN would be addressed and made my appointment for the following day. Some advice to an obviously young man with clearly no experience in customer service or concept of work ethics... JULIAN leave the attitude and big man complex at the door! You go to work to provide a service that people pay for. An oil change doesn't come with disrespect or your quite obvious defensive ego! His future here should be taken into serious consideration! I've been here twice in the past couple of months and so far I have no negative things to say! My first visit was in December. I was due for an inspection and most places were out of inspection stickers for the year by then, but this place was not. I believe I spoke to the manager when I called and he told me they don't take appointments but if I wanted to come right then, they were opening in just a few minutes and there wasn't a wait. I did so, and I was in and out in less than half an hour - and it only took that long because the computer to process and ring up my transaction was giving them some problems. He apologized multiple times and it was honestly no big deal. I went here again this morning for an oil change. I was in and out in seriously ten minutes, if that. The guys working on my car were all very friendly and professional. I heard them all communicating well - checking each other's work, it seemed like, making sure everything was being checked off and finished in order, and they showed me the dipstick after my oil change to make sure I could see with my own eyes the oil was fresh and topped off. Considering so many places around seem to like to upsell women and assume they don't know when something isn't being done right, that was a move that stood out to me. I paid less for my synthetic oil change here than when I go to Firestone for the same service and I usually have to wait HOURS there. I think this is my new spot for routine maintenance! read more

Terrible experience. Questionable technician training. Had an engine oil flush and they left oil cap off while engine running. Oil/detergent spewed everywhere. Manager and technician comically scurried around trying to clean it up. They did replace wiper blades and pay to have car washed (It was the least they could do). Oh but wait, they weren't done messing up my car!!! They cracked the oil pan when they over tightened the oil plug!!! I did not discover this until almost 3000 miles later. No oil visible on dip stick. Was the District Manager or Market Manager willing to pay for an engine compression test to be sure no damage was caused to the engine? NO!!! What were they afraid of? Why are they not willing to make sure customers are satisfied/comfortable that their vehicles are OK after they get done with them? By the way, I've since learned from a trained independent automobile mechanic, that damage to customer vehicles like I experienced from Valvoline are common. They try to discourage you from getting only acustomersn inspection by telling you that only oil change are guaranteed to get in for inspections! Poor customer intimidation tactic. This place has gone downhill fast. Lived in this area for decades and used this place often for oil changes. The last few times we had problems but this Saturday convinced me I'm never going back. Pulled up for an oil change and all excited no one was there. The guy who came over clearly was aggravated I was there and gave me an attitude and told me to pull in. He and what I actually think was the manager went back to their conversation ignoring the fact that my vehicle was there to work on. After at least 5 minutes the one guy started working on it and the manager guy stayed on his phone doing nothing. It took much longer than it should have. I finally left and drove down the road and they never shut and locked the hood. The last time I was there they failed to put the oil cap on tight.
