I normally refuse all non-oil add ons, but thought the employees would be competent enough to replace a 2017 Ford Escape's cabin air filter. They weren't... When my heat turned on there was a lot of noise from rushing air. I stopped on my commute and quickly found they failed to redo the carpeting and felt cold air flowing out of the filter. After getting home from work I looked in more detail and saw the filter cover wasn't replaced correctly and a screw was missing. After snapping in the cover, without a screw, the airflow noise decreased. Although I couldn't figure out how to attach the carpet correctly, so spark plugs are still exposed. If the employees were honest, I wouldn't care. It's a minor mistake, but valvoline cause my previous cars engine to stall after using an incorrect aftermarket engine filter. I will now make sure to tell every valvoline employee to touch nothing except the oil, because they have lied to me, shown their incompetence, and deceit multiple times. Never mind the greed to up-sell consumers on unneeded maintenance that they lack the skills (aka humility & google) to apply. read more

3-4 weeks ago, I had taken my car in for an oil change. I was not too thrilled with having to pay $75 for a simple oil change, but I ate the cost. Everything SEEMED to be okay, or so I thought. I was told that they did an oil change and shown that my air filter was dirty. No big deal. After the oil change, I went to a nearby auto parts place and purchased and replaced my air filter. So far, so good. A week later, my car starts losing power and is starting to struggle. I keep running the car because, at the time, I couldn't afford any car repairs. Fast forward to this week. I end up having my car towed due to my car really struggling to move. The dealer asks if I have had an oil change done recently. I respond "Yes, at the Valvoline place in Middletown". He then tells me that he removed 2 quarts of sludge from my vehicle. HOW DO I HAVE 2 QUARTS OF SLUDGE IN MY VEHICLE!? He does an oil change at no cost to me and we are now looking to have unrelated repairs done to my car. Now, my question is, what kind of oil did they use that turned into sludge in only THREE WEEKS?! I will NEVER go to this place again not will I recommend it to anyone. This place almost ruined my car with their negligence. And I was even willing to overlook the fact that they didn't replace TWO of my plug covers on my tires. read more

Terrible experience. Presented to this location with a groupon for an Oil change. And instead of $29.99 it was to be $19.99. I patiently waited for the oil change And at the end they then said that I would have to pay $29.99 extra on top of the $19.99 There was little to no explanation of why this was and the oil had already been put in the car. So at the end $50.00 oil change.... With little explanation, no sympathy and completely rude. Talking down to me and I even saw him speaking rudely to a prior customer and after that customer left was speaking badly of that prior customer with another coworker. Not only would I never return to this location but I also discourage anyone from going here.....ever. read more

I'm not really sure how to review this place. They are by far the fastest at changing your oil, but you pay more as a consequence. So to me, that's 3 stars because I'm broke and don't want to pay more. The reason I went down to 2 stars is that they always try to sell you more, e.g. a new air filter every time. You don't really need a new air filter every time. Every other time is just fine. They also tried to sell me transmission fluid over a year before I really needed to change it. read more

The guys who work here are really nice, but David is right; it's a pricey oil change. I don't know exactly why. I went a couple of summers ago to have it done without checking the price first and was rather stunned when I saw the bill. When I asked why they said that they do all kinds of other little inspections. They also turned off my check engine light for me, which I appreciated, but I said, "Do you know why it came on in the first place?" They said no and told me not to worry about it. This place is like a drive thru. You drive in, you get your car serviced, and that's it. I was there on a Sunday, so it was pretty busy, however, they were pretty fast. They changed the oil and replaced an air filter (which in my case did need changing). The guys in the shop are always picking on each other and messing with one another, good-naturedly of course. It's liking getting a bonus show while you wait. I don't really think I paid that much more than when I would go to Foxy Fast Lube in Willimantic or Sears at Buckland Hills in Manchester. Of course they always recommend the more expensive oil etc. for your car, but every place does that. Overall, everything was fine. A simple review, but it's an oil change, not really much to critique or work with. read more

Don't go there , not trust worthy!! I've gone to this valvoline for several years now and have been happy. I went there this past weekend and feel that i was lied to and charged alot more than what i should have. I'm not sure if management changed but im sure i will not go back there again. I went in for a quick oil change and of course they try to sell you everthing else. They said i was due for a radiator flush and power steering was low. Having those services with the oil change would be over$250.00. I chose to do just the radiator flush because they took a sample in that plastic thing they use with the floating beads and told me my fluid was bad because the beads are supposed to float when fluid is good and mine were not floating. It took them no joke about 3 minutes to flush and replace fluid. It was so quick! i've done this before in other vehichles and never was that fast. Anway, they took my credit card and were ready to send me on my way. I said, aren't you going to show me that the beads now float with the new fluid?? They were like, um, oh yes. So the hood of my car was up as i was sitting in the drivers seat but could see the crack that when they sucked up the "new" fluid into that plastic thing the beads were not floating!!! Something was not right correct?? Anyway a few of the techs had some discussion in front of my vehicle and went and took another one of those plastic things to suck up the fluid and now the beads were floating. When they showed me they were floating i asked them if the other plastic one was the one they used orginally to show me my fluid was bad becusue nothing was floating. they looked at each other like ummm, hmm. Gave me no answer until another tech said oh no, that one is the one he cracked yesterday. Anway my point is that i feel i was lied to originally so they could make an extra sale. They used the broken one to check my fluid originally and tell me it was bad. i will not be returning there!! I've been a customer for many years but when you are lied to and it was so clear they did lie, they lost a customer and i will let everone know of their lies and how they get you to spend extra money! read more
