For context, I rate products and businesses on a simple scale: 5 stars means I love it, 4 stars…read moremeans I like it, 3 stars is okay, 2 stars means I didn't like it, and 1 star means I hated it or think it's unsafe. This is my third time at Monro Muffler in Rotterdam in the past two months. The first two visits were for tires on two different vehicles. They were able to accommodate me on consecutive days, which really helped me out. They gave me a great price on tires, better than other places I checked, and they offered recommendations at different price points without any pressure to go with the most expensive option. I appreciated that. Ed at the front desk was personable, helpful, and professional. I was very pleased with both appointments. Fast forward to this week when I needed my car inspected ASAP. I knew it was coming due, but I had a vacation planned and was going to handle it when I returned. A snowstorm messed up my plans, I could not get back when expected, and I had to cancel my dealership appointment. When I tried to reschedule, they were booked out a few weeks. A couple quick oil change places could not get me in until midweek either. I remembered my previous experiences at Monro on Chrisler Ave and called on my way to work. I told Ed I needed it done as soon as possible. He said he could take care of it that day and told me what time to bring it in. He got me in right away just like he said he would. It was done quickly and effortlessly. No attempt to sell me anything, just exactly what I asked for. Friendly interaction, great service, and consistency all three times. If I need tires, brakes, or mufflers in the future, this is where I am going.

Well this was not an exciting experience at all. Got done with work at 4 hopped in my car and ran…read moreover to Valvoline hoping to get my vehicle inspected and get my oil change completed because I work and do not have time to get done any other time but when I'm finished with work. I pulled in and the gentleman who came to my window asked me what I wanted and when I told him he said well we only do inspections from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. which to me is amazing especially when it when recently no one had been able to get their vehicles inspected. Then, I told him I wanted an oil changed and he told me "well the is only two of us on so you are going to have a wait, because someone just pulled in and someone is right after them, it is first come first serve, so, if you want to wait you can". This struck me as odd because I did not see where he wanted me to stay with the way it was said to me. When I asked if anyone else in the area does inspections he said I have no idea I am not from around here and I left. I worked for businesses like this in the past, and I will tell as stressed out as I got I never spoke to a customer in that way to make them feel unwanted. I went there for every oil change and every inspection for the past 4 years but unfortunately I will but going elsewhere to do my business, that just turned me off. On another note I am sure he was probably having a bad day. That is not an excuse get out of the feild if you can not talk the pressure of the job. I am giving you am opinion right now and want you to decide on your own merit whether or not you would like to frequent this establishment, so please try it out you may have a completely different experience than I, but ask for me I am loyal to a fault but when I feel like I am no longer wanted I take my business elsewhere. Had 4 tires put on mounted and balanced. A week later i had to bring back becausse of slow leak…read more Took a trip car drove badly upon inspecction i found that all 4 tires had an issue. Didnt replace 2 valve stems all tires had to be remounted and balanced again. The weights were just sliding around.thank God we made it home safe. I had to take the car to glenville walmart to get this corrected. Very disapointed to say the least. Tire technician Omesh told me the car was safe to drive with being out of balance and leaking air.

Absolute ripoff artists. Went there for a simple state inspection. They told me my brake pads…read moreweren't good enough. They wanted over $1200 to remove 4 bolts per wheel and swap out the rotors and pads. They already had it on the lift with all the wheels off. At that point, it would have been a half-hour job and less than $200 worth of parts. I told them to put my wheels back on, and I'd do the brakes myself. Cost me $180 for parts. As I was taking the wheels off, I found They had cross threaded one of my lug nuts, which ruined the stud. They didn't even have the decency to tell me about it. I had to cut it off and go get a new one to install. The worst part is that while replacing the pads, I discovered they didn't even need replacing. They had way more than enough material to pass inspection, and the rotors were well within specs. I will never go to any Midas ever again. They're just another scamming ripoff shop.

I had my brakes done here. They were able to see me at the first time that worked for me. Nick called me within a short period of time to let me know the diagnosis and cost. The work was done quickly. The cost was fair. From the perspective of efficiency and finances, this is a great shop. However, the shop has something more than the pure business side. As noted in many of the reviews I read before I tried this shop, there is a true human element at work here. I felt that Nick was genuine and thoughtful. He was also very considerate. He had someone pull my car out for me when I went to pick it up as it was parked in a tight spot, saving me from performing a dozen small maneuvers to get it out, haha. I would bring my car there again in a heartbeat.
