Whatever you do, do NOT trust this store with your car! I bought my car recently, the end of March, and decided to take a road trip. On the way home, I drove through Louisville KY and saw I needed an oil change. I stopped by Valvoline store number 040133 at 3800 Lexington Rd St Mathew's,Ky 40207 to do this on May 7th, 2022. During my service, I was never informed that if anything bad occurred that I'd need to have a Valvoline certified mechanic look at the car prior to anyone else touching it. I had no clue that this was their "policy". As I made it back home to Minnesota, my car has serious mechanical issues. I took it to a certified mechanic ASAP and found out that Valvoline had/didn't replace the the oil plug correctly according to the diagnosis by the certified mechanic, all my oil leaked out, and my engine blew up. It was recommended for motor replacement. It cost me $10,000 to fix their issue and after I called Valvoline customer care, the store manager Jacob called me on a personal, non-recorded line (and called my certified mechanic the same way) and told me that even though he has a video of the entirety of what happened, they won't pay for anything because I didn't bring the car to one of their own certified mechanics FIRST. Upon requesting that video I was told it cannot be provided. You never think things like this will happen to you until it does. Thought in understand mistakes happen it's important to admit when they are made. This store has me leaving with the feeling that the management and techs here obviously have no clue what they're doing and Valvoline doesn't care about the customer's rights in any way. I told the manager Jacob "I'm not a mechanic why would I know that noises would be associated with a lose oil plug or anything else to do with oil" And the manager Jacob acted like I should've easily known this ghost policy which was impossible. None of the paperwork I received mentioned it and neither did their technicians while I was there. I told my friend who lives in Louisville, right up the road from this store and she has passed the word to her huge network down there of hundreds of people to never go to Valvoline again. This store manager and valvoline will also be receiving communication from my attorney shortly. Don't make the same mistake I did! read more

Always have been happy with their service. They have had a lot of changes people wise but they have treated me and my vehicle with respect.

At first, everything about my experience seemed pretty good. Nice techs, fast service, overall not bad... that is, until the next morning at 4:30am when my car broke down. Upon taking it to my mechanic it turns out they drained the transmission fluid instead of my oil which has caused a host of problems. I am working with corporate to (hopefully) get reimbursed but yet for obvious reasons it will be my last visit to Valvoline :( read more

They installed the oil cap on my car incorrectly which caused a bunch of issues. They don't stand behind their work. Was supposed to hear from them 3 weeks ago but they never contacted me. Have tried contacting them multiple times but cannot get ahold of them. read more

Quick and simple oil change service. I feel like it's pricier than some other options, I think the cheapest oil was $45, but there was no wait and the location is convenient. The technicians were professional and fast. They offered other services but were not pushy. Would recommend. read more

Like many other service shops, they don't set tire pressure to the recommended psi for the vehicle. With the warning systems in cars, that means the indicator will light after you leave. I specifically asked them to set it appropriate AND THEY STILL FAILED. It also isn't safe. read more

I pulled into the bay at 11am, after an hour of waiting without any acknowledgement of how long I've been sitting there I mentioned how long I was there. Three other vehicles had been serviced in the other bay. Twenty minutes after that (12:20 now) they wanted me to back out , and get in line back of the line for the other bay. All I can say is "minimal" waiting is not what I experienced. read more

So I'm new to this whole "instant oil change" thing, which is a crying shame. For car owners, oil changes are inevitable. But when you want to make quick work of it, I'd highly recommend trying the instant route. Since I had no idea what to expect, I felt a bit silly. Maybe it would help you to be forewarned on the order of events: 1. Pull into the garage, someone will direct you in so that you don't fall into the deep dark chasm underneath you. 2. Roll down your window, keep your car running. 3. They will ask you to turn on your lights (of course I panicked and turned on the windshield wipers instead, so no worries if you make a mistake, no judgement here). Then they will ask you to press on your brakes and flip the turn signal on both sides. 4. Some point in the near future they will ask you to turn off your car and put your keys on the dash (safety first). 5. Then just sit and wait, eat a sandwich, read a book, check your email, nap. Whatever you want l, while they work their magic on your car. (I say magic because I have no clue what they do for an oil change, that's still beyond me.) 6. They will ask you a few questions throughout the experience, whether or not you want all the bells and whistles or just the basic oil change. I got just the basics but if you get all the bells, you will most definitely pay for it. 7. My cost was around $41-$43 (can't remember) but I was thrifty while I waited and signed up for a coupon on the Valvoline instant oil change website and got a $5 coupon! Whoo! I have never gone to get my oil changed as I have always done it myself and was uncertain where to go. A friend recommended this location and I am happy I came here. Thank you to the staff for helping me out. Everyone there was super friendly and worked quickly. Thank you to Evan who I spoke to most, also Alex, Kendall, and whoever was under my car. My son had his oil changed today. He is a new driver and was unaware that Valvoline advertises a $30 oil change that includes checking tire pressure, fluids, battery and a few more things. They changed the oil and indicated a new oil filter was installed. The bill states that they did not check any of those maintenance items. The fee was $50.49 for parts and $16 for labor. They charged $3.50 for an extra oil charge which may be the same extra half quart over five quarts. With that rate the oil was $7 a quart, or $38.50. Then the oil filter would be $12. I think this is exorbitant. I tried to call and they didn't answer the phone. He won't be going back there. read more

All the employees I've had contact with have been so friendly and helpful, they are honest about your car and don't make you feel like you gave to get any extras if you aren't interested. I wish I could remember the employees names, one guy has a pony tail and knows lots about nissans and one works as a bar back somewhere else- these two guys are awesome! Logan, Jesse and the entire staff at the Lexington Rd Valvoline were OUTSTANDING! They went through each service step by step and when they didn't have the rear differential oil at their location, they literally called up the street and went and get it while I waited. EXCELLENT Customer Service and follow through. I WILL NEVER go Anywhere else. Another person came in while I was waiting and when they went to check his tire they found a huge bulge in it, Jesse would not let his tech fill the tire and then had the customer come look at it and advised him to take it and get it repaired right away to avoid a blown tire. The customer was very appreciative for having pointed it out and showing him. The staff is AWESOME and the customer service is EXTRAORDINARY!! read more

(THIS REVIEW IS DIRECTED TO THE VALVOLINE ON OLD SHEPHERDSVILLE RD & POPLAR LEVEL RD. I just couldn't seem to get that location to come up for nothing, guess that explains the following.) I've been a faithful customer to this place but I think I've had it with this particular Valvoline. I've been bringing all 3 of my vehicles here for a long time. I have some of my past receipts in my glove box now. So today I was told my oil change would be $70!! WHAT THE!!! I looked at the last 2 receipts prior to this visit and one was $$55.09 the other $43.44. So I'm really like what's going on. Not sure if I'll be going back there. I know I use coupons at times but $70, come on now, that's kind of steep for 5-6 quarts of oil...SMH! Are Valvoline Oil Change Centers a franchise or are there some independently owned ones? read more

I'm usually leery of quick lube places but I've been really impressed with this one. This is the first place I went for an oil change after I moved to Louisville. The guys that work here are not only knowledgeable but are also friendly and take the time to explain things to you without being condescending. They give you recommendations yet do not try to sell you a product or service you don't need. The best part is the servicing takes place in your presence so you can see the work they're doing. Usually when I go to a valvoline I get excellent customer service. This morning I stopped by to get my tire pressure checked as one of my tires looked low. The man who initially helped me was very rude and seemed annoyed that I even stopped by. I won't return to that particular shop again. read more

This is the worst run store I have ever experienced. From the manager to the staff it's truly a bunch of boneheads. They make mistakes and don't claim them. If I were anyone reading this I would go far and away from this place. It will end up costing you more to have the repair work done to your car after they work on it. I've never been so I unsatisfied with the way I was treated and lied to. Very aggressive up selling of services and products, even though I clearly stated what I wanted when I arrived. Staff not listening to the customer. Price I was provided for an air filter was not the same as on the bill. When I pointed this out to the manager, I was told it was wrong. And prices for the extras are about three times what you would pay from Amazon or Pep Boys. Who needs this? If you like oil changes at Valvoline, there is a better one just down Shelbyville Rd. Also a Jiffy Lube on the corner of Westport and Hubbards Lane. I'm not returning to this one. read more

I paid as much for this oil change as at the dealer's. For that the team did not check air pressure or the washer fluid. I went back to have them fill fluid and they attempted to try and say they were not at fault, then did admit it. They try to act efficient, but clearly are not. read more
