Damaged my vehicle and would not take responsibility! The corporate office defaults to the local store. The local store gives you the runaround and refuses to do anything to help. Essentially they will tell you to litigate the matter in court. Long story short they did not secure the splash guard under my vehicle or tighten the bolts and one of the bolts blew out my tire and splash guard came down and got damage as it dragged across the ground. Had to wait over an hour to get into the garage, once in the garage I was denied to use the bathroom. Customer service is hot garbage, I told employee multiple times that I desperately needed to use the bathroom, and he either ignored me or brushed me off. I went in to Valvoline (720 N. Colony Rd, Wallingford, CT) needing an oil change, but also a problem. The fan for cabin air circulation had started making noise the day before. By mid-day Saturday there was a strong smell. It was late afternoon before I could get into Valvoline, and the smell was worse. The crew conducted their usual efficient job withe the lights, fluids, etc. When the cabin air filter was pulled even I could see the problem. A mouse had left droppings and a hole. Unfortunately the dead mouse was still lodged in the rotor...not easily accessible at all. It looked as if I'd have to go find a mechanic. On Saturday evening !!! With 90 degree temperatures predicted for Sunday!!!! That's when Conor stepped up. He looks like a football lineman, but somehow he maneuvered himself into a position where he could work under the dashboard of my car. With effort, and his cellphone flashlight, he got to the fan. Then he discovered that he couldn't pull it out enough to dump the mouse, and his hands were too large to reach it. That's when another helpful young man offered to try. He was able to grab the tail and extract the body. Yay! Then Conor patiently replaced all of the parts and screws. I'm truly grateful to have that problem solved. I won't forget the kindness and care that everyone showed. I wish that I had a video. It would have gone viral. read more

Date of visit, 1/31/2026 around opening. The service was quick, but I will not go back to this location because of work ethic. The employee who serviced my vehicle, his name was Chris. He was arrogant and condescending. When I told him I had a coupon from their website, his exact words to me were, "that coupon doesn't matter me until I know which type of oil you want to use". I don't know how that type of response is acceptable from Valvoline. There were several other ways to respectfully and professional address my question regarding my coupon. There were some other remarks as well that just made my experience well below my expectation. There is no chance of me returning for future services and I was a returning customer. I spent a lot of money yesterday too. I had my oil changed, brake light replaced, cabin filter changed...etc. I recommend Valvoline be more selective on who they hire unless they want to continue to lose valued customers over poor service and unnecessary disrespect. read more

Went to go get my oil changed last week and spent over an hour there due to an issue with reinstalling my oil pan. They were able to temporarily put a new one on to allow me to get to a car shop closer to home. After having my car looked at this morning, I now have to spend over 1k in a new engine oil pan and drain bolts. While I I know this may not have necessarily been their fault, I do wish they told me the issue as soon as they were aware rather than letting me sit there for ~20 minutes before anyone from management spoke to me. I've been going to this place since my first car at 16 (almost 30 now). They are very nice, friendly, and fast. I've never had a problem once until today. I have a tendency to be talked down to at car places because of being a girl and a young face. And I honestly never felt that way or experienced that feeling here until today. After dealing with a clarification issue the person helping me clearly didn't want to even deal with me and proceeded to talk about me and the situation with other coworkers right in front of me after I already had accepted what he said and was proceeding with getting my oil change. I was originally going to be getting other services done but I no longer felt comfortable and canceled the other services. After I heard him speaking about me (right outside my door at the computer) I inserted that I understood and was just wanting to finish my oil change. Without even looking at me he ended up just walking away and went inside without a word or glance back at me. The manager came out after and apologized and finished my service. She tried to re explain everything and I let her know that he had already did and I was just wanting to finish my oil change. After my service was done and she said she'd hope I'd come back again and I let her know I will and that I've never hand an issue here before. Bottom line. Great place. Great service. If you had a child face and value the customer service as well as the car service, you might have some problems. But I'm guessing that's just the luck of the draw. read more

Some people have said that they were able to pay just as much as the dealer or slightly under. In my experience, I've had to pay about 10% more on average for most typical services here. Granted, I choose to use synthetic rather than normal and my make/model and mileage may factor in somehow. With that being said I do think it is worth the extra cost to come to Valvoline. The total time to drive behind Citgo into the Valvoline garage, park your car, have them do their thing, and then pull out takes anywhere between 10-20 minutes. The employees here are very efficient and work well together while not sacrificing professionalism and friendliness! The one thing they will for sure up-sell you on is the $40 cabin air filter swap. Just go to the auto parts store around the corner and change it yourself for $10-20 dollars (really easy to do and won't harm your car if you "mess up"). You also never leave your car and don't wait in a room drinking stale coffee while morning trash TV is playing in the background. And they're open Sundays! read more

After doing research and looking up my owners manual, I determined that using conventional oil would be fine. When I asked for conventional oil I got a lot of push back but the real issue was when one of the employees (named John) said to me "Well, if synthetic oil is out of your league you can come back". I find that highly insulting. I can afford the most expensive oil but why pay for it if I don't have to? Why are you assuming I can't afford it? Is it because I'm a woman or because I'm black? I complained to one the other workers about the way he spoke to me and was told "that's how he sometimes speaks to black people". I will never go to the Valvoline in Wallingford, CT again. Went to Valvoline today for a full synthetic oil change. I Have been getting my oil changes at Valvoline the last 2-4 times because of the convenience. Yes, Valvoline on a whole is just expensive! I have never gotten out of there without paying $80-90 and that is with a coupon (which I will say you get via email pretty regularly.. so you should never be paying full price). It is good to note that this is not your $19.99 oil change establishment. This was my first time to this specific Valvoline. After reading the reviews, I was concerned, but seriously, I had such a wonderful experience! The staff was so friendly and nice. I wish I could remember the name of the tech that I had cause I would give him a huge shout out!! Very helpful and courteous. They were not pushy, although they did what I am sure is part of their job when they offered additional services. After I kindly declined, that was the end of it. Overall, wonderful customer service. I will continue to use Valvoline, and I this is the new Valvoline spot I will be using. read more

If you know anything about me, you know that I LOVE my Jeep and treat it like my child. So when my Jeep needed an oil change and I wanted to get it out of the way on my Saturday errands, I pulled in here. And I was pleasantly surprised. I got my oil changed, my fluids topped off and all of my wiper blades changed (front driver, front passenger and rear wiper) for a very reasonable price. The technician explained everything to me in detail and walked me through all of the safety checks and fluid level checks. I was in and out in about 30 minutes and the technician explained that because I do 95% highway driving, I could easily go 4k miles to 5k miles between oil changes. He also reset the service indicator in the vehicle message center, adjusted my seat back to where it was (hi, I'm short) and never once made me feel like I was an idiot for waiting 500 miles past 3,000 to get my oil change. He also gave me a list of recommended services for my next visit based on the make and model of my vehicle that actually matches up to the manufacturer's service recommendations. It was a very pleasant experience and I certainly will be back in 3-4 months for my next oil change. read more

Went in for a full synthetic change today. I go here when I need the convenience of not having to change my own oil, which I usually do because I can save ~60 bucks on a full synthetic oil change when I do it myself. I always receive quick service here. They check your fluid levels, tire pressure, battery charge, etc. and are never pushy if you decline extra services. After my oil change today, I'm hearing a noise as I'm driving later on in the evening. They forgot to put in one of those plastic bolts back in the wheel well (or it could have been worn out and popped back out after they put it back in), which is an access point to the oil filter on my vehicle. So my tire was rubbing against the wheel well flap that partitions your wheel from your engine. I explained the issue to them over the phone about 10 minutes before they close and go home for the evening. I live the next town over in Cheshire and they were willing to wait for me to drive back so they can address the problem so I wouldn't have to do it myself. We're all human, and mistakes happen. They took responsibility for it and ensured a customer was properly taken care of. Three workers stayed late after closing and had a good attitude. I would highly recommend them for quick, honest, and reliable customer service. I'll be returning. read more

What a joke do not go hear. I sent my wife there with my 2014 Ford Explorer to get a transmission service and diff fluid change. She called before she went to get the price, and make sure they could do it. When she got there they couldn't figure out how to do the diff fluid change. They said they couldn't do the transmission fluid change because of a leak on the tranny. Then they tried to sell here a coolant service. I'm a master ASE tech, who no longer works on cars because I switched fields. The reasons they gave are garbage, they just were not prepared for that type of vehicle and there staff is unprofessional. With very little knowledge. Do your self a favor leave this garbage place alone. Go to a local ma and pa shop. The only reason I even considered having them change the fluid, is because I have no where to dispose of it myself. And supposedly they have good fluid. I will never ever even consider a valvoline product again. read more

This place is fine. It got such rave reviews that I had high expectations. After a $5 coupon, my oil change was almost $38, which is the same as the Honda dealership. However, the oil change only took about 15 minutes versus the minimum of an hour that I'd be waiting at the dealership. If I needed an last minute oil change, I'd come here again.
