Apparently Matt can't tighten an oil filter to save his life. Never once had an oil consumption or leak with this car. Haven't had to check it between changes in a long time. Normally do my own but I was working out of town and had the wife take it in to this store. Fast forward and we're due for another oil change but I just haven't had time to get to it for a few weeks. No big deal. Then I begin to hear a knocking around corners. Check the oil and it's 1.5 qts low. Jack the car up immediately and there's oil all over the filter and bottom of the pan. Go get what I need and the filter was so loose it wasn't even making a seal. Way to go Matt. Way to go. Just what we would expect from a store like this. read more

While out shopping today, my wife and I stopped by for an oil change at about 1:30p. All three bays were occupied but we waited Less than 10 minutes before we were pulled into a bay. The entire staff was very friendly and professional. My observations showed a knowledgeable staff that preformed their tasks thoroughly and correctly. It appeared to us the staff enjoyed their work and it was apparent. Both in their attitudes and friendliness. An oil, filter, and air filter change was well worth the cost. Good value! Same name different experience. I brought my daughters car to the Dutchess Turnpike location and never again. The tech at this location in Wappingers were so much more professional and courteous it was night and day different. Acceptable wait time and once we were inside the bay they reviewed my fluids and made recommendations. Since I do a lot of driving I opted for a Hybrid mix of oil and they saw my coolant was low so they topped off the coolant. Overall a good experience at this location. We will service my 3 cars here moving forward. read more

Disgusted. Rude, mocking treatment from the staff, especially the secondary manager. This was for a NY State Inspection, Oil change. I called VAVOLINE's corporate HQ twice - once about 6 days prior, and again on the day I arrived. This was to make certain (and the representative confirmed) that I could get an unscheduled Inspection *on condition* that I also had an oil change. I agreed, and this was the plan. I drove down, arrived there shortly before 5pm. I was guided to the second (middle) bay. Only one other car was being service. I was told that it must be scheduled. I let them know of my two calls to Vavoline corporate, one to confirm. The attendant went to find the second manager (the primary was off that day)... This sub-manager said he was on his break and refused to do an inspection. I explained about my call to check. He did not care. He refused. No other words, no explanation. I told him I wanted the manager. He told me the main manager was off. He stood there waiting while I called their corporate office. The person on the line did in fact confirm the rules. They also had a record of my prior calls. She attempted to reach the manager ( but again the main guy was out that day). Beware of this place. The attendants are insolent and mocking and seem to enjoy refusing service. The sub-manager seemed to take extra special enjoyment in refusing me. FYI he is the one who is short, squat and with a dark ginger curly beard. Like something out of Tolkien. I am partially disabled US Veteran and I am unaccustomed to this sort of treatment. I will be following up with corporate as well, as they are also looking into this bad treatment. ADVICE: Steer clear! Scammed by Valvoline - Warning to Others! I want to share my recent experience with Valvoline so others don't fall into the same trap. Before purchasing an oil change Groupon (valued at $53), I called Valvoline and confirmed with a representative which option I should choose. I followed their advice and was clearly told that after redeeming the Groupon, I'd only have to pay $7 extra -- no more. But once the service was done, I was shocked to hear that my $53 Groupon only covered $24 of the total cost. They told me I now owed $74 more, meaning I effectively lost $30 on the Groupon and still had to pay more than the full price of a regular oil change. I asked them to review the phone call where I was told the $7 final charge -- because they record all customer calls -- but they refused to review it before 5 PM and said I had to pay immediately or leave without my ID, which they were holding. They told me to come back tomorrow if I wanted them to listen to the call, but for now, I had to pay up. I felt pressured, scammed, and powerless. There was no supervisor available, no willingness to resolve it fairly, and no accountability. I paid based on a promise that they're now refusing to honor. This is unacceptable, and I'll be sharing this story everywhere until it's made right. read more

The shop is convenient to my house, but the upsell game is strong and so annoying at this Valvoline shop. Try going in for just an oil change, and you'll get a recommendation to flush your liquids, get new windshield wipers, get a new battery, get new air and cabin filters, etc. of course, the prices of replacement items are excessive. My male friends don't seem to have the same upsell issues at Valvoline. The workers are pleasant, but I dread the hard sell. read more

I go there to get an oil change right across the street from my house and this younger gentlemen tell me to get behind a car and says your car is "required" to get a synthetic blend (because it is a civic SI) which will cost you $120. A, that is not true.. B, You should not use a price as a tactic to turn customers a way . I said that is untrue & said ill go somewhere else. I called and spoke to a rep from Valvoline that said conventional oil is fine gave me a discount and went down the road . However, I did go down the street by Buffalo Wild Wings and Don and the rest of them took care of me right away so it looks like it was just a person that needs more training. read more

My car was overdue for a coolant change, but I have checked the boil over/freeze protection, as well as the ph level. I decided to give Valvoline Instant a try. I have taken my car to my Mazda dealer, ever since it was new. Being that it is coming up on it's 10th birthday, I decided to try something different. I did have some questions about the type of coolant they use, as my car specifies FL-22 (one of the green coolants). The service advisor asked the manager to address my questions, and he provided the answers I was looking for. Apparently they use a formula which is good for any vehicle. In addition, the manager was the person who swapped out the coolant. He even showed me what the new coolant looked like (a nice light green as opposed to the darker green of the old stuff) .The factory antifreeze is supposed to be initially changed at 10 years or 120,000 miles. I was at 125,000. Overall, based on my 20 or so minutes there, I was impressed with the shop, as well as the service team. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car back, in the future, for other maintenance services. Thanks again! read more

They basically do "oil" changes, yet they are clueless about how to do one. They leave parts out throw them away and do not contact the customer to say "hey there's been an issue". A car engine totaled because they left PARTS OUT and then threw them away, and then admitted they threw them away. I brought my car here for oil change. The mechanic was nice, but unfortunately he was dishonest. He said my oil drain plug was stripped before I got there. I brought my car to the mechanic that usually changes my oil in all my cars, never had not 1 problem. He put my car on the lift and looked at the plug, and he said it was caused by a impact gun, he does not let any mechanics use impact guns on plugs for that 1 simple reason. For years brought my Hondas to Honda Dealer for service. I figured I would give Valvoline in Wappingers a shot. I used a discount coupon, but the cost was way more than Honda Dealer oil change! My spotless driveway has oil leakage spots all over it as the Valvoline Tech was too lazy to clean any residual oil left on car frame from draining oil. So I usually go to the oil change plus, however they are closed so they told me to go to Valvoline and to scan the code and get $15 off. I get there and they greet me and let me know it's gonna be a 30-40 minute wait and that's fine, it was busy. They have three docks and I was put behind a Lincoln in the second door. I end up waiting over an hour to be seen and three other vehicles that came after me were seen before me. Two of which were there at least 15-20 mins after me and were seen before me. All the employees seen me and seen that I was still waiting and NO ONE came to say just a minute or maybe move to another dock so I can be helped. Nope nothing. I finally get there they do what they have to and then when I gave them the coupon that the oil change plus gave me, it expired. When I expressed what happened he said sorry and that he couldn't honor it. I also paid $109 for full synthetic oil and only got 3,000 miles when I should get 5,000. Overall I had the most terrible experience here. I will not be going back and I do not recommend going here, unless you wanna get ripped off. For everything I went through he could of at least honored the coupon. I gave the one star cause they did greet me almost as soon as I pulled up. read more

Took my brand new car for it's first oil change. The "lady" at the desk brings air filters with leaves sprinkled on the top of them to me to sell air filters. All locations do this, but I wasn't getting them for a new car. I knocked the leaves into a garbage can behind me. A few of them fell on the floor. Typically I pick up such things myself. She lets out a loud huff, gets a broom slams it down. Goes in to another room and screams, "I swear if one more customer...". Come back in banging the dust pan, huffing, essentially having a full on tantrum. Not going there ever again. read more

I went for a oil change a week ago , and that was fine , While looking at their services , I needed to get a tire rotation to swap out my summer tires to my winter tire which has it own rims attached .. so I went today do a tire rotation. (Early in the morning I went , and they noticed I have more than one lock on each rim ..(they are high demand and ppl in the city steal them .. ) they mentioned to me that, They won't do it because they afraid to break the key on the lock . .. So why mentioned and advertise that you do tire rotation ; now a days , newer cars have to wheel locks on them .. smh . I call it being lazy.. never again I come here. read more

Far from being "instant," I arrived at 9 AM with one car in front of me and it took over an hour. A lot of milling about and the opposite of the "pit stop" experience they advertise and show in photographs. Did not seem like an understaffing issue but just a lack of urgency across the board. Went in for a simple oil change and inspection. They damaged the engine splash shield when changing the oil and threw it in the trash. I found this out after I got home. They didn't feel it was necessary to inform me about it, but of course they informed me that I needed the air filter replaced, tires rotated, etc... The tires were also over inflated by the tech who work on my vehicle. They took no responsibility whatsoever for damaging the splash shield. Very unprofessional. read more

Today at 12 pm, I went in to have my inspection completed. Which I should have realized was a mistake because my car "failed" inspection last year for wind shield wipers being ripped that were MAXIMUM a couple months old. Today, I was informed that my parking brake was not functioning properly. As I go out to get into my car, my car was left with the window down in the torrential rain. I brought the manager out and he states oh sorry, won't happen again. You're right... because I will never come back after this experience. At 2 pm, I went to Mavis in Poughkeepsie which was fantastic. This was the soonest appointment they were able to give me. I informed the manager here that my parking brake wasn't functioning properly however, I knew it was because I tested it out in the Valvoline parking lot (it's either it stops or it doesn't, correct?) Anyway, what do I know about cars... So the manger used the parking brake in front of me and stated that it was in proper working condition and my car should have passed inspection. In the mean time, I called the District Manager, who was also USELESS... He once again put the blame on me stating that I had Mavis tighten my parking brake which allowed it to pass inspection. Which is clearly inaccurate because 1) your car needs to be on the lift (which it wasn't and 2) I have documentation to state it was in perfect working order... DMV will be receiving a complaint regarding this HORRIBLE experience and how I was REFUSED to be refunded. read more

The service was not fast. I noticed that my treatment was different than the Caucasian customers. The attendant told me that I need to change my brake bulbs. His coworker informs the guy that they were out of stock. I waited an additional 20 minutes to be informed. Meanwhile people who entered was taken care of before me. I paid for my service. I asked for a receipt. He guy stated, "I will email it to you!" I turned around and asked, "How can you email me? You never asked for that information!" Had my oil changed there. They pulled out the engine air filter and struggled with it to figure out how to get it back in. They also removed the cabin air filter and didn't connect the glove box properly - when I opened it it crashed down. I will never go there again. They broke my car! After spending $100 for oil change and tire rotation I was driving back home and started hearing a grinding sound. Pulled over and big piece of metal came off from under my car. Went right back guy told me it was the skid plate and that shouldn't have happened. Instead of properly fixing it they used zip ties to hold it back together although this was never explained to me I found out myself after the fact.
