We have both been in situations where having some of the tools presented & taught at the class would've helped us to feel more safe and confident. It became obvious to me that the instructor and owner of the studio, Paul, is an expert in self-defense. He is well-versed, clear and an informative communicator of how to use our bodies & minds to escape forceful, scary situations by an attacker. Paul also made the class fun, which I feel is important when learning something new. What a great group of women who all have the same goal of protecting ourselves! My daughter and I were very impressed by the presentation and the way the class was executed. It is obvious that Paul cares about all of our well-being and that is priceless. We will be attending session # 2, & practicing all that we learned. The 90 minute class seemed to go by quickly and the cost absolutely affordable. What would we pay to be able to take care of ourselves in a situation where we needed to defend ourselves in order to be safe? It is priceless. After doing our research and asking around, Maq Pack came highly recommended. Our kids have been going here for some time now and from day one they far exceed any expectations I had. The instructor has found the perfect balance of strict discipline for respect and tradition while being fun and approachable. ALL the kids seem to have a lot of respect for what they're doing and take it serious but at the same time they have a ton of fun and can't wait to go to class. Their pricing is affordable and extremely competitive. They even have trial classes so you can give them a try before signing your kids up. AND! Maq Pack has some really cool camps and special events. One of which is Parent's Night Out. They take the kids (usually on Saturday nights) and play games, have Nerf battles and watch movies so the parents can have a night out. No exaggeration, their last Parent's Night Out was possibly our kids' highlight of the year. They had an insane amount of fun. Not to mention my wife and I were able to out for a nice dinner. Tim Sheehan, the 5th degree black belt who owns and run the school, is a really down to earth, friendly, fun and amazing guy. The curriculum is pretty intense as it covers kicking, punching, blocking, throwing, falling, chocking, grappling, joint locking, pressure point manipulation, some gymnastic, and most of the basic weapons. Ideally, a student will attend at least 2 days a week, if not more, so that they can slowly build a mastery of the techniques. I highly recommend this style of martial art for any one aged 5 to 70, and of any physical size. On certain days, the workouts can be tough mixing some stretching, with cardio, sit-ups, and push-ups, but you're able to move at your own pace, doing what's comfortable for you and appropriate for you level. You'll absolutely love it, and will enjoy yourself immensely, as you build new friendships, learn to defend yourself, and get in great shape.

We have done trials at a few other martial arts places and at the 4-5 year old level, it often just degenerates into a glorified gymnastics session or just play time. Sure, it's nice to get the energy out, but I can just as easily do that with a play date. I'm impressed by how much my son has learned in 4 months, all the while having a great time and not even realizing it's instruction. Master Tim has a great way of making class fun for the young kids and I love how he teaches the younger kids' classes himself.
