I came to see how they work but again no one was offering us a spot? I asked for tryouts and signed up my kid and double signed up the waiver and coach just walked away. They had a lesson going on but they have 2 coaches. I'm sure one could had gave us a better guide. Please make sure to check with coach before waisting your time in coming for your tryouts. The automatic system is not communicating properly? Or the coach?

His patience, dedication, and knowledge have made a real impact on our daughter, who is not only building great character traits but also is learning practical self-defense skills. Additionally, what stands out about the Gracie Academy's approach in general is the systematic approach it takes. The classes are designed for those genuinely interested in learning jiu jitsu as a martial art--a form of personal growth, not just sport. We are so grateful to Coach Julius and the entire team for creating such a supportive, disciplined, and empowering environment. If you're looking for a jiu jitsu school that teaches real-world skills in a family-friendly way, Gracie Jiu Jitsu East San Jose may be the school for you.

Instructors are experienced, especially my instructor Cecil Moreno who just received a scholarship for his time in taekwondo. Master/owner is very strict and impatient, but that motivates the students to train harder and think faster which is good for the younger children as they will be challenged to straighten themselves up into a true martial artist and become successful in the future. The environment is very small but also very friendly and family orientated. Smaller classes mean a closer bond to the fellow classmates which can be good for those who are shy. Outgoing students will enjoy ceremonies and parties as more people will attend and will surely have a great time. You can see the black belts have developed a really close relationship/bond as you would want the black belts to have. Students themselves are very skilled at what they do thanks to the harsh but excellent training they revieve. They will cry, bleed, whine, etc., but that's where the sport of taekwondo will take you. No pain no gain. Former students have become successful as some are now currently on the Team USA roster (James Howe II, Alvin/Albert Jong, etc.). With the motivation that your child will get, their future can be anywhere. If you are looking for a very good taekwondo dojang that is very affordable and fun for the kids, give this place a shot! They have a 2 week FREE training!!!

Needless to say, they have been very happy with their decisions since. They enjoy the strict and structured learning environment that sets high expectations for them to achieve. Respect emanates in this environment as everyone greets one another with a customary bow of acknowledgment. While the masters are firm, they are also very supportive and fun. My girls start each class with seriousness but leave with light hearted smiles. It's been over a year now and my once weak daughters have developed not only tight muscles but also a strong sense of self confidence; thanks to the rigor of each lesson. Seeing my fragile girls accomplishing challenging, powerful moves makes me cringe but also feel impressed. Thank you to the passionate and professional masters at Choi's for instilling the love for martial arts in my girls. It is now an element of their identity. Unlike many other martial art schools, I like the authentic feel of Choi's dojang. They are not commercialized. They don't try to sell you anything or talk you into signing long term contracts to trap you in. Some other places I've encountered, they pressure you with gimmicks like a limited time promotion or try to sell you merchandise. There are no salesman here, just genuine martial artists who wants to share their expertise with those whom are interested in practicing this form. I would definitely recommend Choi's Tae Kwon Do to anyone that is looking for a quality and valuable enrichment.
