We didn't make it past trying the beers. We knew the place had reopened under new ownership and wanted to give it a shot. We walked in and were seated promptly. Right away I noticed there were crumbs all over the floor. That's a major red flag, not a good first impression. Decided to try some beers. We placed an order with the waitress for three tasters. She informed us one of them was brand new, and all of their other beers were from the original owners. A minute later, another waitress came over and says that our server can't service alcohol because she's not of age and to give her the order. When I said one of them was one of the new beers she had no idea what I was talking about. Strange. What is most strange is that why is a server working at a brewery who can't serve alcohol? That's a new one for me. Let's just say the beers were awful. They were flat, tasteless and not entirely up the temp. We got up and walked out and went to the Trolley Barn across the street.

I will answer the questions I had before going, as others probably have the same: Is it family friendly? Yes, there were plenty of kids and even a couple babies on site. Its spacious and open air so there is no crowded feel. On the night we went it wasn't overly loud. My kids are usually picky eaters but they devoured their kid's meals and said it was very good. How's the beer? Very good. Branch brews a decent selection of their own beers and ciders which aren't bad at all. Their Cowpath Roadie Stout is particularly good. They also have guest brews from other local breweries. Its self-pour. You get a card to scan at each tap pour whatever you like. This allows you to control portions for samples and try a wider variety The Food? Its pretty good. Their menu isn't as robust as others but it has some good options. The focus on flatbreads. They say their "Goat" is the best, and they are not wrong. Its very good Sports? They have several large TVs and had the Phillies playoffs on. Endless beers on tap with $2 specials often. Every night of the week offers dinner specials at extremely low prices. Kudos to the chef who never disappoints. We don't consider ourselves regulars at any particular bar. We like to mix things up. But it's pretty obvious who the Crossroads regulars are -- every time we walk in, there are the same familiar faces. At this point, I'm pretty sure some of them have their own parking spaces. We usually wait until sometime late Friday afternoon to see what the weekend food specials are. That's often what gets us through the door. That, or we're in the mood to listen to some live music. Crossroads consistently has live music on Friday and Saturday nights, which is something we really enjoy. We almost always sit at the bar. We like meeting new people and having conversations, although once the place gets going, it can get pretty loud. Sometimes you're having a conversation and realize you've been smiling and nodding for the last five minutes because you have absolutely no idea what the other person just said. The bar staff is generally friendly and welcoming. Most days, anyway. But we're all human, and sometimes you can tell someone is having one of those days where friendliness apparently isn't on the menu. We get it -- we've all been there. The food has always been good for us. One thing we've noticed occasionally, though, is that what shows up on the plate doesn't always seem to include everything listed in the description. Every once in a while, we'll look at the food and think, "Wasn't there supposed to be bacon on this?" or "Did the sauce take the night off?" Nothing major, but if it's listed in the description, we'd like to see it make an appearance. The mixed drinks can also be a little weak at times. And by "a little weak," I mean sometimes you start wondering if the bartender and the drink had a disagreement before it reached the table. Thankfully, they have the staple draft beers to fall back on. The specialty draft selection could use a little work, though. Overall, we keep coming back, and that probably says more than anything else. Between the food specials, live music, familiar faces, and relaxed bar atmosphere, Crossroads has become one of those places we enjoy stopping into. It's not perfect, but then again, neither are we -- and we've been coming back for years, so they must be doing something right.

I am not disqualifying their experience but it is very odd it was so different. It was a hot, humid, rainy Saturday and the A/C was just fine when we got in. They have a good selection of beer and cocktails using a lot of local producers so there is a wonderful chance for you to find what you want to drink. The prices on the menu looked a little steep but the servings were generous and the food was very good. I had the best wings I've had in a long time with a nice crispness to the skin. My wife and I had a good time and found it lots of fun. If I was going to suggest a change it would be some sort of uniform for the servers. Hypsters in comfortable clothing fine but the issue is they blend in with some of the customers. I was talking to one guy thinking he was a server.
