Parts missing from box when I got it home, I decided to return it due to the poor quality of the product and missing parts. Oshkosh store manager said he wouldn't return my money. I bought a Whirlpool fridge from Van Vreede's around February 2023 for my house. About sixteen months later, the evaporator fan motor died, preventing my fridge from cooling. The repair technician took two weeks to fix the problem. The new part and labor cost me over $370. Because my fridge was just outside the one-year warranty, Whirlpool refused to reimburse any of my repair costs, even though my wife and I separately called Whirlpool to complain. read more

Van Vreede's and Howie Voight services is incompetent. New kitchen appliances were delivered in August. Dishwasher would not run without throwing error codes and refrigerator was completely missing one of the drawer slides. Van Vreede's sent the repairs to Howie Voight Appliance Repairs. Howie Voight couldn't schedule a technician until September. Technician is there for 15 minutes, agrees to order drawer slide and says dish washer needs new control board. Howie Voight can't get parts for three months. Finally show up to repair items in December. Technician comes on site and finds that they didn't order all the correct parts for drawer slide and have wrong control board for dishwasher. We wait another month... yesterday January 25, the technician again comes to our house. Once again, they have the wrong parts for the drawer slide... They were able to replace the control board, and left. Last night we finally get to use our dishwasher, which has never worked since being delivered 6 months ago, and we got the same error code we had in August!!! Today, January 26, I call in the morning to talk to a manager. They take my information and promise that a manger will call me back today. By 3:30, I call back again and am told that all the managers are "in meetings" but they will call be back today. Well, it's now 6:00 and I haven't received a call. Apparently Van Vreede's and Howie Voight doesn't care enough about customer service to even call customers back, and incompetent that they can't order the right parts or properly troubleshoot issues. At this point, all they've done is take my money and give me a nice looking stainless steel box. read more

I order a fridge and it only lasted 3 years. The back always froze over so the fridge stopped working once every year and it took 4 hours to fix. We also ordered the fridge to be brand new, and the seller sent us a FLOOR MODEL. He lied this way and that just so he could make us pay an outrageous amount of money. Do NOT recommend. read more

They don't even bother to check merchandise before the warehouse sends it out for delivery. The installer noticed the box was damaged and so was the dishwasher. I was told the installer would have to return it and another would be ordered from the factory. No one even bothered to check factory availability. Once they have your money, be patient you are on their time now and there is no hurry at all for them. read more

I placed an order for a dishwasher on 6/28, understanding that there would be a wait to get one as production is delayed. However, 2.5 months later, dishwasher paid in full and not even a phone call. Called on status and was told it was not even in production yet. Hard to believe - I am guessing they provided dishwashers for the contractors that purchase from them. Complete nightmare. Long story short, we ordered furniture in October 2019. It is now March 2020 and my order is not closed. One issue after another. We had a kitchen table delivered damaged. Not only was the table damaged, it was installed improperly with one of the leg bolts completely stripped. We had items ordered furniture items that were discontinued and were not available. We have a bed that did not come with the proper parts. We spent a lot of money and expected professionals to come to our house that would set up ready to use furniture. We had scheduled 2 deliveries. We are on our 5th house visit and still waiting on the 6th visit, hoping the parts for the bed are finally correct. The only updates I get from the store are when I call. We having been waiting over a month since the last house visit and have not received any updates. There are lots of other options to purchase furniture. I recommend any place else. read more

Went to Appleton location on 1/4 and worked with salesman named Gary. Ordered 2 recliners, a loveseat and a swivel chair. Gary said the recliners were in stock and that the loveseat and chair were going to be delivered to their store on 1/9. We set up delivery for 1/10 which we had to take off work for. Gary said there was a slight chance the loveseat & chair may not make it into their delivery truck depending what time they got to their store. We were to receive a call in the 9th saying when they would be at our house on the 10th. Well they never called. I had to call them. When they came in the 10th, only the recliners were delivered. Called Gary on the 11th who told me he had no idea where the loveseat & chair were. He did some checking and told me there was a 95%they be delivered to their store on the 23rd (seriously!). So, we set up delivery for the 24th. Guess what....only the loveseat showed up at their store. They were going to deliver it and hopefully deliver the chair on Feb 14th of it came in. Explained we cannot afford to take off 2 more days of work. Want both the chair and loveseat delivered together. Especially if the chair never comes in, I sure the heck don't want the loveseat. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your furniture needs. Van Vreedes takes your money and doesn't deliver the goods. I bought a refrigerator for my daughter in May, 2020 from Van Vreede's. When it was delivered in the freezer door was dented. We told to contac Howie Voight for service. They said they would order a new one. When the new one came in it was the wrong color. We have been waiting 6 months to get a replacement freezer door. We have called multiple times to both places anytime have been told it's because of the coronavirus that is taking so long to get a replacement freezer door. I find it rather interesting that Van Vreede's continues to sell the same refrigerator on their website. Why can they not give us one of those refrigerator freezers as a replacement and take back the original purchase? I'm disgusted with both places and I'm now moving on to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Their slogan is "why shop anywhere else" it should be "definitely shop somewhere else." I stopped in the store today looking for a good quality recliner. The sales guy (sadly I did not see his name) was so pushy and did not seem to care about what I wanted, he was more interested in pushing their cheap floor models. There was even one messed up chair that he was trying to tell me was a great deal, when I pointed out some major flaws in the chair he said you have to go by the 72 hour rule. He explained that the 72 hour rule is where after 72 hours you won't even notice the flaw. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'm supposed to buy a damaged chair and ignore the flaws??? Who would ever do that??? Save yourself and got somewhere else anywhere else. read more

Don't waste your time buying from VanVreede's! I bought a complete appliance set, over $3000.00 never got a call from the salesman after I purchased it to see how I like it. Now the dishwasher completely stopped working!!! After 2 service calls for this problem it's still not fixed! They need to get another part!!! We had nothing but problems with them. We were very specific with the dimensions for our new refrigerator but the salesman wanted us to drive back home and make sure we had the correct dimensions. They were correct so that was wasted time. Then after all of that and 2 weeks later he ordered the wrong refrigerator. They weren't very sympathetic. The manager told us "well he just made a mistake " they wanted us to wait 2 more weeks for the right refrige without a discount. They also lied about the stove we ordered and kept changing our delivery date so we canceled our order and went to Lowes and saved over $1200.00 compared to van vreedes. Terrible followup and communication. I ordered new high end appliances for my kitchen remodel 3 months before they were needed. I was assured that everything would be in and delivered on time. Quite the contrary, my refrigerator was on backorder and no one told me. When I inquired with my sales rep. I felt like I was bothering him and his responses were very short. When the refrigerator was finally installed, the brackets were missing for the panel. Again, no follow up. I had to contact my sales rep several times for updates. I don't think this location is very concerned with customer service or creating a return customer base. I will definitely not shop here again! read more

The Van Vreede's off of College Avenue in Appleton has awful customer service or should I say provides "no customer services" at all. My husband and I went to the kitchen and range section of the store hoping to get some quotes for range hoods and cost of installation. We were in there for 45 minutes and no one greeted us nor did they offer to assist us (even after I told one of the staff members that we've been there for at least 30 minutes and would like some help). We left after realizing that even the staff that we had told this to was walking around trying to look busy after they were done with their customer. We bought a dryer from them. It has broken 6 times in 30 months. They are only interested in band aiding a lemon appliance until it is past it's warranty. I was very hesitant to shop here again after multiple bad experiences from product delivered damaged to taking off work and waiting all day for delivery to get a call late afternoon that the product that had our name on it on the dock to be delivered was sold out from under us. Of course I was convinced that under new management things have changed and my sales person would also be the one handling my warranty issues in the future. So while sale and delivery were great the customer service after the sale was very poor being passed along from my sales representative to a warranty representative and they do not stand behind the products they sell. I purchased a high end Electrolux washer/dryer and after year the chrome finish started bubbling. I was told cosmetic issues are not not covered under warranty. The unit when delivered also had some very strong adhesive left on the dryer window. The delivery tech recommended using a product call Goo Gone to remove it. After attempting, the chemical clouded the plastic. Van Vreede's would not stand behind this as well stating it was cosmetic. Like many people your purchase decision is made on function as well as appearance, but Van Vreede's clearly doesn't care about customer or the products they sell. read more

We bought a 3 piece Flexsteel leather reclining sofa, glider love seat and reclining char all for almost $4000.00. The leather color started fading within a year and holes have started to appear in the leather. The quality and craftsmanship of the material is horrible. Called Van Vreede's but of course the one year warranty has expired. The company should be ashamed to sell such crappy furniture to people especially at that price. The sale portion of our transaction was ok however, each time we called regarding install appointments, service question later on, etc. we got a young lady with the crappiest attitude answering the phone. If you don't know your sales person's name (we spoke to him all of 8 minutes and I promptly forgot the name) she gets all put out and says "how am I supposed to find your account?" Really? Very disappointed with Mgmt on a purchase of a mattress. Delivery was not coordinated, timely or communicated I should have used Costco as an option. Staff at store is not attuned to customer service or simple courtesy. With a $1500 purchase I expected promise to delivery activity would be a simple requirement. I'm a fairly long term and loyal customer BUT recently have changed my opinion. I purchased a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator 3.25 years ago as well as 5 other appliances for a new house. The ice maker could not be fixed. Frigidaire extended the warranty 6 months but could not be fixed. The last visit, after many service visits at the end of our extended warranty Van Vreede's recommended we purchase the extended warranty. We were so dissapointed we moved the unit into our unfinished basement. We went back to Van Vreede's and purchased a Maytag refrigerator. The left door rotating plate where the right door seals against it malfunctioned at 15 months, out of warranty. The overlap between the bracket to rotate the plate was so small that the pieces wore out at 15 months such that the bracket was inneffective. The plate always stays open, i.e. does not rotate such that the doors slam into each other. Van Vreede's would not help. I have to call the manufacturer to get help. My feedback from Van Vreede's indicates they are not responsible for customer satisfaction. The customer is responsible to communicate directly with the manufacturer. Something is not right here and this is not customer friendly environment. read more

Trying to build a house? I wouldn't suggest shopping here. The sales lady (Mary?) was excellent showing us around and helping us pick out the right appliances for us. After that it has been a disaster. Ernie would never get us the quote when he said he would. He wouldn't respond to some emails. He also wouldn't respond to calls. Even after calling out in email exactly what we wanted in the quote, he still messed it up twice. They lost a FULL HOUSE of appliances purchase. If we had purchased right away, it would have went well I am sure. We purchased a couch last year and it went fine but we did so while in the store. read more

I would never recommend this company to anyone. We moved into an apartment which was brand new and just built in March. They got the washing machine and dryer from Van Vreedes. Within the first month, we had to call service out for the washing machine because the drum wouldn't spin. It worked about 2 more weeks and the same thing was happening - they came out again. Now we're in July, and our washing machine hasn't worked in over 5 weeks, and service has been out a total of 6 times. They keep putting in new parts, and when it still doesn't work they order more (useless) parts. They have replaced every single part in the machine basically and it still isn't working. They are refusing to give us a new machine (its been less than 5 months since it was bought) and here we sit. I would NEVER recommend this company. One of the customer service reps told me that it was "user malfunction", and that's why it wasn't working, even though it won't work for their reps either. I have bought over the years 2 refrigerators 2 full sets of living room furniture, 2 sets of washer and dryers and 1 TV this is what I remember. My last couch I had bought the seam had split, I had my receipt and it was 4 days over the 1 year warranted Well I really figured that the 4 day thing aww they will honor it . NOPE not a chance as a mater of fact they charged me 90.00 dollars for a new cushion cover. Hmmmm after all my business and a lot of other business I had given this is how I was treated . We have dealt with VanVreede's for a very long time, never having a problem that caused us to call and complain. Last month we had gotten two chairs delivered to our house. They took our existing sofa out of the house and put it in the garage for Restore to pick up the next day. They brought our furniture in but the delivery guys were not real good and did some damage to our doors and our new furniture. The storm door and the inside door both got scratched and each chair had a leg that had been scratched. Right after they left, we were on the phone because we had not noticed the scratches until we tipped the chairs over to put felt pads on them. At that point we did not notice the scratches in the door yet. When I called in, the warehouse manager told us to write to our salesperson and put in pictures if we had them. We did that and the very next morning we received a call from their management team. She was very nice to work with. We had gotten frustrated, I'll admit that. Here we went and spent $2,000.00 on two pieces of furniture and they were already damaged which made it "feel" as if they were already second hand pieces. We know they were new, but it felt as if they were ruined. We tried to be patient and in all honesty they were on top of our problems straight up. After telling the woman that we were leaning towards having them take the furniture back and getting a refund we were contacted by the store manager. By that time we had already had two of their guys scheduled to come to our house to fix the damages. One guy fixed our doors and he was a gem to work with which made this process so much nicer. The other man came a couple of days later and replaced the legs, again he was excellent to work with as well. Management worked with us and did compensate us for our problems. He pretty much bent over backwards making sure we were whole and happy. THAT is good customer service. Even though the delivery guys were a little left to be desired, I believe they did above and beyond rectifying our problem and we are happy. We WILL DEFINITELY go back, considering we have been with them for our furniture and appliances for 30+ years now, why stop when they give great customer service. read more

While looking for a reclining leather sofa that was made in america, we stopped at Van Vreedes. The salesman Gary Weeden came upon us and began selling on us brands and items before even asking us what we were in the market to purchase. The guy just wouldn't stop talking! If anyone else in the area sold Flexsteel we would have left within short order. Since there really isn't another local dealer we continued. Gary, who had been selling (and memorizing furniture propaganda) since the 1990's, was unable to give us actual pricing on anything when we asked for. He offered that one option we considered was an additional $150 and they liked numbers that ended in "9". When trying to get final price estimate, the option that was $150 was now $175 and we still couldn't get any firm numbers, just close guesses. The biggest thing that bothered us was that there was nothing on the sofa that said it was "Made in the USA". Gary just said that if Flexsteel outsourced the cup holders (as an example) from outside the country that they could no longer say it is made in the USA. He continued about how great Van Vreede's was and so on. After leaving the store disgusted, we learned that ALL leather reclining sofas (part of the Latitude collection) are imported from CHINA!! The is no way with all the knowledge that Gary tried to impress upon us didn't know that these were imported. I won;t be played the fool and we will never go into that store again because I wouldn't believe a word they say anymore. read more
