Stopped in here before a city game. Hadn't heard of it really but good ratings on Yelp and also recommended on another site. So decided to give it a try. Not in what you would say is the greatest location. Just not in the place you'd think a restaurant would be. That's not a negative just found it interesting. We were seated right away and opted for outside dining. You can see a lake across the street but if parking is full it's kinda blocked. But we really liked the vibe there. Laid back. Had some music going. We enjoyed eating out there. All of our meals were excellent. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich (yum). We also got the mexi-cal bowl and the fajitas. They both were also yummy. We decided for the s'mores as dessert. We figured they'd bring out already made s'mores. But no. They bring you out the chocolate the marshmallows and the graham crackers and you cook it right there at your table with this mini fire thingy. It was good. The only thing I would have changed is that they brought out the chocolate ice cold so it didn't melt too well. But it was good. The star of our experience was our waiter. He was awesome. Very attentive, always keeping our drinks filled and super friendly. Having a great waiter just puts good meals over the top. Wish I would have grabbed his name so I could give him a shout out here. But he was working the outside tables on Saturday Apollo 18. Great job man. Overall, give this place a shot. Unique dishes that satisfies the taste buds. We'll be back. read more

This has turned out to be a solid place for a lazy sunday afternoon weekend lunch. It gives you that summer vibe, casual and "beachy". Open air, cool space, we have encounter really good service and the food is fine. Keep in mind, it is not fine dining, but it hits the spot. I looks like we have found a cool hangout place for the summer. read more

The atmosphere is definitely a strong point; its casual, lively, and a good spot if you're looking for a neighborhood hangout. The outside patio was nice, not too crowded and the nice breeze from the lake was awesome for a summer night. Service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. The food, though, didn't wow me. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't memorable. We shared a pile of appetizers, which overall was fine, just lacking that standout flavor I was hoping for. Of course the free appetizer pickles are quite good, but skip the fried pickles, they lacked the flavor and excitement of the free ones. Would I go back? Maybe, if I'm nearby and want a laid-back spot for drinks. But it's not a destination spot for me. read more

Excellent service, atmosphere and food. Took some friends here to try the place for the first time and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We had a large group and were accommodated with no issues at an outdoor table. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. I was able to customize my ahi bowl by adding the seaweed salad, spicy mayo and eel sauce to match some of the flavors in the other ahi bowl. I replaced the rice with salad to fit my diet. They have a laid back beachy vibe with a firepit in the middle of the sandy area. Adirondack chairs are circled around the firepit. Very relaxing atmosphere. read more

We had a large group at 6:00 on a Friday and they were slammed! We were just there for dinner but they were showing the NBA Finals and the atmosphere was awesome. I had a "sweet mocktail" and the fig and pig flat bread. Both had great flavor but the flatbread was a little over cooked. Such a fun place! Second time dining here and I really enjoyed it. My party of 12 was celebrating someone's birthday. Our service was good and our food came out in appropriate timing. Our Pot Stickers were decent. The Fried Pickles with that Honey Dijon is really yummy. I had the Mac & Cheese Skillet as my meal. It's luxuriously creamy, but gets almost too rich as you continue to eat it. The first bites are heavenly, though. The sweet potato waffle fries are amazing! We ordered the S'mores, which was a good time. We didn't play any of the available board games, but it's a nice option for families and friends. Lots of events are offered, such as Singo and live music. The atmosphere is family-friendly and enticing for sports enthusiasts, as well. Make sure you hop on that swan boat out front for pictures. I am a fan of the food and variety offered in a Tavern or Pub and have been wanting to check this place out. I like that when you arrive you were greeted right away and given a free jar of pickles. No bread for the table, it's a jar of pickles! Tasty ones too! I got the Mac Cheese appetizer and it was great gooey and tasty. I believe they used a lot of gruyere which was fine but just note that seemed to be the predominant flavor. I followed up with the French dip which was "ok" but I will say the waffle fries (sweet potatoe)were awesome. When they first arrived and in the photo they look like they might be a little over done but NO. I don't know exactly what they did but it seemed like they had a brown sugar bake on them. There was not one employee who was not kind and willing to help. That made the experience in itself. The inside/outside concept is very inviting and perfect for a casual college game day. The experience begins with complimentary pickles in lieu of bread. I had a hard time choosing between nachos, a mexi chicken rice bowl, and pasta. ::insert face palm:: I essentially went with something more bar like. Burger and fries. But not just any burger or fries. The Vanbarry Bacon Jam is phenomenal. It features a huge patty, a hint of sweet, and a nicely crisp kaiser roll. And the sweet potato waffle fries which I typically add sugar to were perfect the way they were. The entire experience was pretty great. Had lunch here with some coworkers, it was a little busy but we found a table pretty quick, the patio is big with lots of space, good place to hang out with a big group. The waitress came over right away with Cutlery and a small jar of pickles, they place one on each table, their version of Chips and Salsa:) Ordered two Korean Pork tacos,served with a slaw, some salsa, chips and sour cream. The tortilla was cold and the Pork had a good barbecue flavor....that's it! My coworkers enjoyed their Burgers and one had a salad she said it was good. I'll start by saying maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing? I have only come to Vanbarrys a few times over the years, and I've never been impressed by the food. I think the strong points have generally been the live entertainment and the chill vibe, which to be fair, are really important qualities! But the food has never been memorable for me, which leads me to believe this isn't the first time I've ordered the shrimp po boy... and it's not very good. The quality of the bread is great, and it's filled to the BRIM with fried shrimp--those are the positives. The po boy was topped with avocado which I thought was really odd, but beyond that... it just didn't taste like much. The chips and queso we ordered was tasty, so no complaints there. I will try to come back and order something different, but from my experiences over the last decade, my feeling is that this is sort of standard bar food. read more

We joined some friends at Vanbarry's for dinner. We had been to their sister (brother?) restaurant Ollie's a few times before, but never to Vanbarry's. Our friends had already gotten a hightop table outside (I love hightops!). The outside seating area is very big and, thankfully, well-covered. While we were there, a random raincloud dumped a load on us. We were well protected, although the rain hitting the metal roof was SO loud. We had to wait until it passed so we could finish our conversation. LOL I ordered Vanbarry's Bacon Jam Burger with bacon jam and blue cheese crumbles. OMG. It was freakin' amazing. We had been meaning to give Vanbarry's a try and I'm so glad we finally did. Since that first visit about six weeks ago we've been 4 times. So to say we enjoyed it is an understatement. The staff is great. We like that it has inside and outside seating. Most nights there is live music which is a big bonus. The menu has a nice variety and everything comes out fresh, hot and delicious. My husband said on our last visit that the chicken fajitas were the best he has ever had. I've tried the Mahi tacos, the hippie pizza and the shrimp bowl. All were fantastic. The grandkids loved that they can play a board game while eating and the table top s'mores were a huge hit. I've been here for brunch a number of times, but the other day my fiancé and I decided to come in to watch the Vikings-Bears game. This is a really great place to watch sports too! She started with a Bloody Mary - maybe the best in town, and I had their Campari Grapefruit Spritz - probably my favorite drink in Orlando. A group of us came in for dinner before the Orlando City and Solar Bears games. The location was perfect proximity to the arenas for our group to meet for food then split between the two locations. We were split on the pickles starter in place of bread- the pickle people loved them, but the non-pickle fans opted out. More for us! Two of us split the mac and cheese skillet as an appetizer because we wanted to try it. It was super creamy and had a great cheese pull with al dente noodles. The Happy Hippie flatbread (not pictured) and Tuscan Chicken sandwich got the highest reviews from our group. (If you like pesto, ask for the pesto aioli on the side for your fries, too, though they were great on their own and didn't need a condiment!) We had plans to do the table side s'mores experience but turning mac & cheese into an app took up our dessert space. Next time for sure though! The staff was super friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and made sure we had the table we reserved ready to go for a group of 6. We enjoyed the variety of sports and other things on the TVs and the wide selection of games you could play while you wait. Spent the evening here with my date. I got the life is a peach cocktail - featuring vodka, peach purée, peach juice, and lemonade. This drink was also topped with Prosecco. It was bubbly and light and very refreshing. I only paid $13 for the drink and the steak bowl was $13 as well because they substituted steak instead of chicken. So on Wednesday nights at Van berries they do singing bingo; which I completely forgot however my date and I got to listen to some really old songs and have a good evening. Great location and food. My friend and I went for lunch here before heading to the airport to fly home. We were there between the lunch rush and dinner hour, so it was nice and calm and not to busy. We sat in the bar area, but not at the bar, and while the bartender that took care of us was great, there were times we had to flag her down to get something for the table. I think some of the daily locals kept her occupied not caring about other patrons in the building. I had the Oh Boy! Po' Boy and goodness the name says it all. It had fried shrimp and coleslaw on it, so good. She told me that people usually cannot finish it, it's so huge, and while I didn't take that as a challenge, I did finish it. This place was amazing! My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich and he said it was the best he ever had (and he's a buffalo chicken sandwich connoisseur)! I had the spicy tuna bowl with crispy rice and it was so delicious! I enjoyed every bite. Their complementary homemade pickles were really good too! The atmosphere was really laid back. They have a nice outdoor patio where we were able to sit with our dog. They also had a little "beach" area with sand and a fire pit where people can sit and hang out. I came with a work group for lunch and it wasn't crowded inside. Our server was nice and quick with anything we ordered or needed. I got the Mexican chicken bowl and it was just ok. Chicken was good, but the rice and beans didn't taste like anything at all. The salsa was a bit spicy for me to use all of it but the guacamole was good.
