My daughter, a young and struggling teacher in a charter school, had a fender bender during a recent snow event. Common to many vehicles now, this resulted in damage not only to the car's front bumper and grille, but also to its radiator rendering the car inoperative. My daughter stressed through ensuing estimates that she could neither afford and often could not understand. In an effort to assist, I offered to find a shop near her and negotiate the repairs on her behalf. After several conversations with other repair shops, I discovered VANGO Auto and we could not be more grateful that we did. Not only was their estimate significantly less that all others, but once work began they stayed in touch with each aspect of the repair work to make sure we knew which work had the highest priority along with the precise cost of each repair. They completed the work as promised, in the time they promised and in an amount my daughter could afford. They provided a thorough overview of the vehicle and let us know what to do next when feasible. They then followed up with a phone call days after the work to ensure all was well. As much as we curse summer road construction in Minnesota, I was beyond thrilled one day last August when a detour redirected me and I stumbled across Vango. Driving down 7th street, I caught a glimpse of one, then two, then three awesome VW Vanagon campers! A u-turn and an quick but informative conversation with Jordan and I was hooked. We quickly booked our rental and planned our North Shore trip. All of our questions were answered, the booking process was easy, our well maintained, well equipped, beautiful "Bernie" was ready to roll when we picked him up. Driving one is an absolute pleasure and set-up is about as easy as it gets and you never get tired of all the "thumbs-up" you get when tooling down the highway. VanGo: The "Van Gogh" of Volkswagen repair! VanGo Auto is an amazing, family-owned shop! The owners, Crystal and Jordan, are an awesome duo, clearly passionate quality work. Jordan's depth-of-knowledge about Vanagons is astounding. We brought them our "new" (27-year-old) basket-case of a Vanagon Westfalia for a once-over, with the goal of getting it hit-the-road-ready. After a full inspection, there were a few common issues identified that needed to be addressed. They offered multiple, costed repair options, with a focus on our goals for the van, and were very patient with us as we decided our plan-of-action. Jordan consistently goes way above and beyond the call of duty as a mechanic. He very kindly, and voluntarily, sutured together (free of charge) my broken bumper on my worn down, but beloved, toaster-ish looking 2006 Scion XB. It was an act of generosity I deeply appreciated. Vango Auto is a friendly and unique place. Its great to be able to go to an auto mechanic shop and not have to worry about them overcharging you or them telling you what other parts of your car need fixing. These guys really went above and beyond when my Volvo was acting up before going on a family vacation. Crystal took the time to drive us to the airport, which would have been a hassle to arrange as I have a child in a car seat, and picked us up when we returned. Coming home to a car running perfectly again and a list of things that we should keep an eye on for repairs down the road (our vehicle is higher mileage) was such a relief. I highly recommend VanGo Auto. I had brought my car into the dealership for a heating issue and they charged $150 just for a diagnostic test. Total cost to fix would've been around $550 at the dealership. VanGo charged $49 for a diagnostic test and around $350 to fix the issue. That's $300 in savings by going to VanGo. This is a family run, local business that really cares about their customers. They have convenient hours and service that is completed very quickly. Again highly recommend!! read more

Lovely service, family owned business with very reasonable prices. I loved the theme of the shop, as they renovated in with a 70/80s vintage style vibe. They also rent out VW vans for camping/trips which I thought was such a cute idea! Ron the shop dog was the sweetest little guy ever, such a nice welcome. The dealer said our Audi needed a new water pump - and it would cost over $900 for parts and labor. We decided to take it to VanGo. They checked it out and said it didn't need replacement (at least not yet!). No charge! Of course we couldn't be more pleased. All mechanics should be this honest and helpful.
