Alternator failed busy road outside of Ft.Snelling. Wife is towed into shop after Good Samaritan jumps battery to help get to safety. I had spoken with Wendy previously to see if shop had room. Once confirmed, alternator and my tow3d car arrive@Parkway @same time. It's Friday at about 1:15 when I first call Wendy, car gets into shop around 3:00 wife leaves shop 5:20 and heads for home 3 hrs away. These folks are my heros, a giant Thank You for helping fixing my car...but most important fitting her in, assuring her the car would be ready before shop closed, and sending her on her way right before the weekend. This was such a great experience for us. We were hearing some questionable sounds in our Nissan as we were about to embark on a big road trip. We called in and, without an appointment, were able to stop in on our way out and Blake checked out our car to properly diagnose if it was capable for the trip. It seemed a little busy in there but Blake was so great to work with and he took good care of us. He gave us a proper rundown of what we should get checked upon returning from our trip but that it was perfectly okay for us to drive. He put us at such ease, assuring us that we would be safe. Brought in an older car for a diagnosis. They wanted to charge me $100 for $50 worth of parts, and $250 for labor on what would have been a 10- to 20-minute job. I was SO impressed with the level of service at this mechanic. I would recommend them to anyone without reservation and will absolutely be back for all my car needs. I just moved to town to finish law school at UMN and don't know a soul here. My car kept turning off up the street and I made it into their parking lot with J&M towing following me. I googled the reviews and saw they were well rated, but I still sort of expected them to see a lady with out of state tags, a little dog, and an older car being followed by a tow truck as a financial "opportunity". I got just the opposite. The staff was friendly and professional as soon as I walked in the door. They got my car in within about 15min despite looking fairly busy. I don't tell mechanics up front that I used to repair my own cars with my ex-boyfriend mechanic because I like to see if they are honest. Parkway was 100% geunine, professional AND friendly. They told me what was wrong, how to fix it, how long it would take and any options I may want to use. They also guarantee the work and parts for 1 year. The estimate was surprisingly low and when I told them I would have to wait in the waiting area since I don't know anyone in this town, they offered a loaner car, free of charge, so I could get my little dog home and because it would be a few hours. I thought on the way home that this mechanic was too good to be true. I checked online to confirm the repairs for my current car and what they told me was spot on. When they called to tell me my car was ready, I received the same level of friendly service and no surprises. The bill was straighforward and exactly what they said. I also went under the hood when I got home and checked the work. Everything looks great!! As a tribute to whoever the owner is, I looked around to see if other customers seemed pleased as well. The employees appeared to be happy and friendly in general when interacting with customers. It is a well run business. I was blown away at this rare level of quality service that I half expected the alternator to fall out on the road, lol, but they did a terrific job! I was in a real rush to get some work done on my aging Subaru after Christmas this year. After being let down by several Saint Paul mechanics(including my prior regular shop) I came to Parkway Auto after seeing the positive reviews and living in the area. The staff were courteous and prompt, the work done quickly, and the price was surprisingly low compared to some of the larger chains. The mechanic walked me through my cars needs and upcoming maintenance in a friendly, understandable way. I had an excellent experience, even more so considering how quick it was. I plan to make this place my new regular auto mechanic and would highly suggest them. read more

I have used this repair shop twice and been satisfied both times. One time I had a suspension part replaced. The job was done promptly and satisfactorily. Another time I consulted with them about a transmission problem on an older and rather exotic car. After consideration they felt they could not do the repair and charged me nothing for their advice. read more

WOW! So I got a flat tire and I got to a gas station and filled it but they didn't have a pressure gauge. This place was right across the street. I explained the problem and they immediately had me pull the car in and filled all the tires and checked them. Then, as I was driving home (it was a rental car) the low fluid light went on so I turned right around and drove back and the guy came out within minutes and filled up the tank. He wouldn't take any money for the two services. I know that it wasn't a huge deal but it was a huge deal for me. If I lived in St. Paul this is the ONLY place I'd take my car! read more

We didn't have to do any auto work or repairs but our license plate needed to be changed. Ours was rusted and I couldn't figure out how to remove it. I talked to them on the phone and my husband took the car in. They were super friendly on the phone and my husband was happy with their service. Very disappointing service. I honestly don't know why everyone is raving about this place. I took my car in after experiencing a simple starting issue, was charged $60 for a basic diagnostics scan, told there were "too many issues to isolate the problem", and was going to be charged another $120 for a more in depth sensor scan that STILL was not guaranteed to find the problem. Walked away 4 hours later with no answers, no suggestions, and no help. I added a star because they were courteous. read more
