This festival is particularly unique in that it celebrates youth performers. We saw so many families armed with fiddles, guitars, dobros, double bases, guitars competing on stages with hundreds of witness there to celebrate their musical gifts. The camp ground has been holding this festival for 95 years and we all should hope they continue to do so for decades longer.

A little super-wholesome and perhaps heavy on the religious tunes for those who are not so inclined, and there is no alcohol served or allowed at this event, but the music was all top-notch. The weekend events include workshops and fiddling competitions in addition to more traditional performances, so check out the schedule on their website beforehand. Wonderful place to while away a few summer hours in the sun while listening to some high-quality down-home country, bluegrass and folk music from bands that resemble today's incarnation of the Carter family, if you can imagine.

The Linneys stone grind corn meal, corn bread mix, grits, and they sell my favorite: buckwheat pancake mix. This is an authenic, operating water mill, and depending on when you visit, you can see the entire process, from the water wheel driven grind stone to the packaging and selling of the finished products. The Linney's campground adjoins the mill with campsites by the creek. Visiting the mill is like stepping way back in time. No credit cards accepted, and no cell phone signal here. These are good people, and this is an authentic experience.

They have a playground for kids, picnic tables, a clean bathhouse with warm showers, and a fully stocked camp store! Each site had a picnic table & fire pit and river view! We had so much fun! Best part of all, they have a canoe/kayak trip! We did the 5 mile canoe trip, and it was a blast! Definitely made the trip : )

After a long day of searching for a campground that met our needs, we found it!…read more We are tent campers so finding a place where you are not on top of each other and don't have to hike a mile into the woods isn't easy. There are a few tent areas and ours was 4 spots, however, they could've put in about 20, so yes, they are huge! We were able to sprawl out and have all the space we could ever need. This campground is on 30 acres. It has a pool, bathhouse, beach volleyball, playground, sandbox, 2 pavilions, and a small farm. The farm has a bunny, 2 miniature horses, a full-sized horse, goats, and 2 pigs. The owners live on the property and are very accessible and friendly. We needed wood for our fire and they have it for sale. They even deliver it to your site. The price is right (compared to Walmart or Lowes where the bundles of wood are tiny and burn so quick that you run thru $100 in a night) Our $20 in wood lasted for 1.5 days, which is good since we like fire! The site was super quiet and it was like a little oasis. Where we were was right by the river, so you can hear the babbling, quite peaceful! We had a bunch of trees that kept the campsite cool during the day. There are some tent spots in the middle of the camper areas, but luckily they put us away from everything! There is another tent area that sits across the brook (cute little bridge to get to that side) and I couldn't count how many spots could go into that area, it's wide open! There will be another trip planned!

She immediately makes you feel like a life long friend.We didn't have the RV and horse with with us this trip so we didn't use one of her hookups or the horse paddocks this time but can say they are high quality and clean. We stayed in the lodge itself. Comfortable area to socialize complete with a beautiful handcrafted bar. Our bedroom had a country feel and would be a bargain at 3x the price. However, we didn't spend much time in it as there is so much to do here. It was a very short walk to the main town area. It is like walking on the set of a Western like Gunsmoke complete with Miss Kitty's saloon. There are horses tied to hitching rails and not a motorized vehicle in sight. I don't remember how many riding trails there are. We rode on 2 of them and really had a great time. The horses are absolutely beautiful and well trained. The food is good here but if you need a fancier restaurant, Statesville is just a short drive away. Risto's was our favorite.

We stumbled across it when we were having a vehicle issue and were, pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. there is solar lighting at your utility pole, garbage cans, every two campsites. It's like they thought of everything. I know I will remember this spot the next time I'm coming down through North Carolina.

Average price is only $45 a night and certainly well worth it. It is located about 5 miles from Elkin and right in the middle of winery country. We liked the porch swing and was nice to have the game area near by. The campground looked clean when we walked to their playgrounds. Our son enjoyed the playground. They only had the main office restrooms due to the cold temps. We would stay again when in the area.

We didn't use pool knowing there was no working bathroom and all those kids in pool. People in park were friendly and office staff were wonderful. Mostly annuals so weekends are packed with people and too many golf carts.

They are rude and act like you are bothering them when you have questions. Firewood is not available, we were told there is trees down over there go cut some wood, seriously! Just totally unacceptable conditions. Staff says it's corporates fault but they don't try to clean up anything or make things nicer for their campers at all. All the activities they advertise are crap and can't be used. The restaurant is closed and looks to have been for a while. Waste of money and a vacation. Very disappointing.

The campground itself it very nice and maintained, there could be more amenities for kids to have something to do, since there isn't alot of local attractions nearby to entertain small kids or teenagers. Honestly, never met a better staff and I have stayed in alot of different campgrounds due to traveling for work. Again, just more activities and things for kids like mini golf, splash pads, or anything family oriented really would be the only thing to top off such a wonderful place to stay.
