No idea what the quality of the service is like here, but if it has anything to do with the salon owner's character, it can't be good. Paula Kennedy is the owner of this establishment and this is how she speaks to service workers. She came in to purchase some lightener and color, but when I pulled up her account to ring her up, her name was not associated with the business account. I requested her cosmetology license number to continue with the transaction, as it is company policy to avoid selling to any unlicensed person, and this interaction ensued. read more

This was my first experience at a blow out bar and I left feeling amazing! Stephanie did my hair and gave me exactly what I wanted. I asked for long flowing waves and they turned out great! I then went to Tiffany for makeup and was a little weary because I have had some horrifying experiences getting my makeup done (not here!) Tiffany was absolutely adorable, made me feel comfortable and listened to exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend this place! Made an appointment three days in advance for a blowout because we were doing our family photos this afternoon. My appointment was at 11am, received an email confirmation that even had the name of the person doing my hair. I showed up at 10:55am, doors locked. I called the number, it rang and rang then I got voicemail. The voicemail said not to leave a voicemail and to email. I emailed and waited and waited. Waited until 11:30 and finally left when nobody showed up and nobody even got back to me. I got lucky and was able to hurry up and go to another blow out place that squeezed me in because they felt bad for me and got the job done. Let me start by saying my girl was extremely nice! The customer service, was really good. However... My hair style was good, just not that great. It took her about 15 minutes to curl and style my hair. I also asked for makeup. It was good, and I could tell the girl knew what she was doing and once again super nice, but I guess I was expecting something a bit more dramatic. My friend was a bit more disappointed. I could tell the girl servicing her was a little newer and not as experienced (but yes, super sweet.) It took her awhile with the hair and she was a bit inexperienced with makeup. My friend is a performer and expects a very professional application of makeup. The girl did not know how to do lashes and completely skipped contouring although my friend mentioned it a few times. I bought a Living Social deal here which is a great way to try a new business. I have tried almost all of the blow dry businesses and Drybar always ends up my go to. I read all of the good Yelp reviews so I thought I would give this place a try. I made my apt online and experienced a little snafu on the day of my appt. I received an email that my apt was cancelled. I called up, really irritated, and the girl I spoke with didn't know what happened but that they still had my appt on file. When I got there, I asked if they anted to see the email I received. The girl said no, that's okay. As I was checked in, they asked for all of my information again. I asked why they didn't already have it when I registered online? She said that their system crashed earlier and lost the information. That's why I received that email earlier. It was just really weird that she didn't mention that up front and before she asked me for all of my information again. Anyway, my deal included the blowout and deep conditioning. I thought the girl did a fantastic job on my hair. It is 2 days later and my hair looks really great still. What makes this place different from Drybar is that they sell boutique clothes and accessories. I think this is a really great addition to the north Scottsdale blowdry game. read more

Held my 4-year-old daughter's birthday party here (the Anastasia party!). What a great time for everyone. Staff was professional and the little girls loved being treated like princesses at a "big girl" salon. All birthday guests had their hair washed and styled, and many had their nails painted. Special treat: we had Ariel come to complete the birthday/Under the Sea/princess experience. The salon set up is welcoming and open, and conducive to conversation. They provided us a table where we were able to set up brunch foods/mimosas/sparkling cider and birthday cake. They'll even put a movie on for you so the kiddos can watch their favorite film while they get pampered. read more

For the last several weeks, this blow out bar has taken a nose dive. I have been a regular customer here for a long time, often coming in twice per week. I love my stylist and the atmosphere was relaxing and professional. Apparently, the salon was sold recently and the change is quite obvious. The new owners are not welcoming and it feels very uncomfortable there. It is no longer relaxing there which is one of the main reasons I chose the salon to begin with. There were a few unprofessional incidents there over the past week which made me quite uncomfortable as a paying customer. I witnessed the receptionist being fired right at the front of the salon, in front of the entire salon full of clients. I'm a business owner and my patients would never see that happening. There is a back break room where the owners could have terminated her employment. I did not need to sit in front of the screaming match that ensued at the front. The atmosphere is not as fun as it used to be. It feels like I'm walking into a funeral. Integrity seems to be lacking. I will no longer be a patron here. People deserve to be treated with respect. 6/7/19 update. I received a message from the new owner today (however they failed to change the user name from the old owner's information. So while it states it came from Stacy B, it did not. It is from one of the new owners who I believe are named Hana and naji ....they sent a private message rather than a public response. See their response below). I am appalled by the response I received. While it may seem nice that I was offered a free service and told I am a "value customer," telling me that what I saw didn't happen totally negates my experience and is not the way you should treat valued customers. The response basically calls me a liar. I did, in fact, witness a shouting match at the front desk between the owners and former receptionist. I did, in fact, witness Amanda being fired. I am a business owner myself and I know what customer service should be. And I am a highly educated individual who I well aware of what yelling sounds like and I was not the only client in the salon at the time who heard and witnessed this interaction. Perhaps I'm just the only one who was disgusted enough to write a review to let others know about the change in the establishment. I was here a few months ago for a blowout. I'm pretty sure the girl that did my blowout was new. As soon as she started washing my hair I told her that the water was cold then she turned the water on so hot that it literally steam was coming out of my hair and burned my scalp so bad I jumped out of the chair. I screamed "OW" and she said sorry that happens sometimes. I got my hair blow dried in a hot blow dryer with my scalded scalp. It was horrible! My scalp hurt for three days. I came here after purchasing a Groupon. I wanted to check it out and scheduled an appointment online, which was nice and convenient. My appt was with Lindsay, who was amazing. I had the best service and she was nice and sweet and just did a great job. My blow out lasted for 2 days, which is insane, considering I can't get my hair to keep curl for an hour, let alone 2 days. There was no pressure to purchase any products, although I did and am in LOVE with my Morroccan Hairspray, both the smell and the way it feels in my hair. I loved this place. I loved the online scheduling. The inside was very laid back and I didn't feel like I was being snobbed at. My hair looked great! I didn't feel like a conveyor belt customer like at some nearby chain places...which I have and will still sometimes go to but it gives that "timed" feeling like I am "in and out" not a real client. I came here to get my hair done before going out for my birthday, and I had a great experience! The salon was fairly busy, and so there was a bit of a wait, but the owner and staff were very nice about it and engaging. They even had mini cupcakes and fruit to snack on while waiting :). The salon itself offers a modern decor that is clean but has enough personality to offer some style as well. The owner informed me that the salon is still in soft-opening phases, and that the grand opening will be mid-December. They offer blow outs, up-do's, hair treatments, and soon they will add esthetics. When I went, I had an appointment with Marliss, who is amazing and definitely worth requesting ahead of time! I've been coming here for years. I have tried other places but somehow I keep coming back here. That's because Arielle knows my hair, and she knows how I like it, but this time she put me in the hands of Amber for a haircut, and it was success! For months I have considered the possibility of a haircut, but I was hesitant due to bad past experience. For the longest time Vanity was only a blow bar, but suddenly they became a full service salon, and I'm thankful for Amber. I told her what I wanted and she went to work. I just closed my eyes, and when i opened i had a fabulous haircut. Full of layers, face framing, lenght, and everything I wanted. My hair now has more volume, and I have put hair bands and scrunchies behind. It looks good down and every one compliments. So I'm glad I went for it! read more

I had a hair emergency on a Monday, which is a terrible day to have one as most salons are closed. I was very fortunate to find a salon like this that was open. It was a really far drive, but worth it. Arianna (I hope I spelled that right) was my stylist. A very sweet, personable girl that I liked from the start. She did a good blowout. I suppose the three stars are because 1) they barely ask you how you want your hair. I showed them a photo, but she didn't really come close to the look I showed her. And 2) I asked to be turned around to face the mirror and she said that her cord wouldn't reach. A few minutes later I turned around to see my hair and her cord WAS long enough. Not cool. The blowout was reasonable for the price. It wasn't what my stylist does to my hair, but it was a good blowout and I was grateful to get it done; my hair needed it! So, I'd say that, yes, they do blowouts that are good, but you really need to be vocal and let them know you want to see what they're doing. Other than that the salon is really pretty and they have a lot of cool thing for sale. They also had very cool videos and music playing; the vibe was awesome. read more

I've not patroned Vanity for its stylists specifically, but I can say with confidence that these fine professionals know what they are doing! I've personally recommended Vanity to a close working friend and she was simply amazed with the incredible service and outcome of her blowout. In my interactions with the team, I can tell there is a genuine passion for what they come to work for each day - not to style, but change lives. As a frequent secret shopper (not here, of course :) ), I can tell genuine passion from "all the rest". I visit Vanity, however, for Beverly their beyond-words-amazing Massage Therapist (for lack of a more awesome title!). Beverly's the "real deal". I've tried them all - the mom & pop's at the mall, the guys who come out of nowhere for a free 10-minute, and even Massage Envy for a spell. I can say that Beverly does much more than help overall stress, tension, and circulation; she knows exactly what needs to be done for each visit. Her Signature Massage will leave you wanting to fall asleep and I have - and I'm a horrible snorer! In the 3 visits I've had with her, she's done more good than 3 years worth of Massage Envy! I was a bit disappointed. I was in the area because my daughter had a major surgery and is in a nursing facility. I have been very stressed and really needed to treat myself. I made a 9:00 am appointment and showed up at 8:55. The girl who opened the salon and also did my blow out, did not show up until 9:10. (she did call me to tell me she'd be late) I booked the red carpet blow out because I need the conditioning treatment and wanted to treat myself. The blow out was okay. Nothing to write home about, the stylist talked about her medical issues the entire time. I really needed to have some "me" time and not hear about "her" . When I went to pay, I was told that I was given a classic blow out. I wondered, because I was in the shampoo bowl for about 3 minutes with no conditioning treatment or scalp massage. It cost me less but that is not what I wanted. She mentioned that I don't need to book such an expensive blow out next time. I think I will go elsewhere next time. I'm giving 3 stars because my blow out was just ok. The girl was really nice and sweet but my hair didn't come out like I had thought. I guess I have nothing to compare to but I didn't love the style. I thought a blow out was drying your hair with a round brush from root to tip. She just used brush on tips. I asked for straight with a little wave and left with very curly hair. My roots were frizzy on top and a little wet underneath when I left. So......lets fast forward 2 yrs from my last review. The love of my life was in a bind and needed help fast. She was so blown away with the service from everyone there and was hooked, a client for life. She continued to go see Kylie as her regular hairdresser for almost 2yrs. All of a sudden....TRAGEDY!!!! Kylie told her she was taking on a new adventure and moving out of state. With uncertainty and fear of what to do she was at her final appointment with Kylie and feeling very unsure of what she would do without her. Without hesitation she knew exactly what to do to help her out..........in comes "Jackie Boss" Let's start by saying it was a match made in heaven. Jackie took the time to meet with my girl Honey Miller, listen to her regarding what she likes, dislikes, color preferences, style and overall comfort levels. Here is the best part.......I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous after her first visit to Vanity however Jackie is now my biggest fan. I don't know how she does it but it's magic. She met with Honey and in only minutes knew exactly what to do, say and produce an absolute transformation. She is funny, personable, attentive and willing to work with you for the perfect you. Side note Honey and I were invited to a wedding last month in Mesa. With her working full time and being a single Mom it's hard enough to get home and ready for the event much less prep her hair and do her make up. I went in yesterday to check out Vanity Blowout Bar since I noticed it recently opened nearby and I had a holiday party to attend. I have been to many of the other local businesses with this type of concept and this was truly unique. The decor and ambiance is very warm and inviting and you could tell the stylists were taking their time with each individual vs. some of the "factory" type feels you can get. My stylist listened to what I wanted and did a great job with my "loose curls". I was truly 100% pleased with the final look and will definitely be going back there very soon! read more

Owners are really nice and the place is cute, but it doesn't make up for the unexperienced stylists. My first visit was a disaster. My hair turned out nothing like the picture I picked out. It was flat and part of my hair was curly while other parts were straight. If I had time to go home and wash it, I would have. NOT GOOD! My second visit was a little better. The only thing I didn't like was that she sprayed my hair with hairspray while it was damp then round brushed it to style it (DAMAGING). Hairspray, can you believe it?!?!? She should have been using a thermal protectant. The ends turned out really frizzy and dry. I pretty much had to do back-to-back deep conditioning treatments after my visit to Vanity.
