I don't buy new car very often. Up until I bought my new 2026 Equinox at Vann Gannaway Chevrolet, it has been 17 years. Trust me when I say I do plenty of research not only on the cars I like, but also the dealerships. Lets face it car salesmen along with their boss are noted for being unscrupulous, pressure tactics. ganging up on you with their bosses. How many times have you gone to a dealership and right a way the salesman sits you down with a piece of paper in his hand. He draws a cross on it dividing into what is called a,"4 square. When he brings that out you should get up and leave. with the 4 square, he will ask for figures like," how much can you afford in monthly payments." With that he disappears and goes back to his boss and figure out a price that suits them and then maneuvers numbers and time of payment that sounds good to you. And then it is," if I can get you this price today, will you buy the car. It this point you have lost and the dealer has got his hooks in you. Not to mention all the add ons they throw on a car and tell you well it comes with the car cha ching. An example is, " why we have inflated your tires with Nitrogen and that makes them run cooler, wear better, and last a lot longer. Pure ripoff. Something like 77% of the air we breathe is nitrogen. Then comes the finance mgr. He can be the best salesman for the dealership. He can try to add VIN etching, or get you to buy insurance by making you feel bad, " because don't you want to make sure that your car is paid off if something happen to you? Why what kind of a guy are you? Then they begin to add their fees for example like an other local Chevy dealer in town. This dealer added 900.00 and called it Notary and handling fees. They added 740.00 some dollars and called it Non Tax Fees they had add ons on the car that they were telling me I had to pay for them. That is when I left that dealership and found Vann Gannaway Chevrolet. Boy what a change, What a relief to find an honest dealership. There was no pressure, there was not add-ons. There was no inflated cost listed on the paperwork. For example the other dealer wanted 900.00 for doing all the paperwork, Vann Gannaway charged 75.00 bucks. The other dealership add on something called Non Tax Fees. I suppose that was dealer prep and other things. There weren't any of those fees at Vann Gannaway's. The finance mgr, didn't push me to add on any extras. Finally, I believe that you and I could save several thousand dollars dealing with Vann Gannaway Chevrolet. The salesman that I used is named Roman. He was excellent and he helped me several days after the sale with setting up the electronics. Thank you Roman. We were looking for a new mid-sized truck and over a period of months had narrowed it down to Frontier or Colorado. Frankly the Nissan has a longer record mechanically so I was leaning that way. The Chevy is a much nicer truck so it could go either way. What sold us on Chevy was the people. The salesman was everything he wasn't supposed to be: polite, cordial, non-pushy and gave us a good deal. It took us 3 days to make up our minds - no problem. After closing we had a young man explain all the electronics to us. He was very knowledgeable and very patient. Overall a rather pleasant experience.
