Honest, capable, reliable, and successful repair!! What more could you want from a transmission…read moreshop??!! My 2008 Toyota Yaris transmission would randomly shift down or out of gear altogether, at between 35mph and highway speeds. Sometimes it would do this and sometimes it would behave properly. It was intermittent. So I didn't know if my tranny was toast and needed a $5000 replacement or could be fixed for reasonable cost. Oh yes, the Electric Power Steering in my Yaris would go in and out as well, separate issue. I brought it to Derek at Transmission Depot, and told him it was not a daily driver, so he could take as long as needed to diagnose and fix the found issues. Derek had team members drive it for errands to get it to misbehave, to assist in the diagnosis. Eventually they decided to replace the speed sensor and crankshaft position sensor. While they were doing that work, they found a couple ground wires to the transmission that needed cleaning up. They drove and tested it some more after those repairs. After another week or so, they decided it was ready for me to pick up. It was fixed!! Worked great and continues to work perfectly! For under $1000, Derek and the Transmission Depot team not only fixed my transmission random shift/slippage issue, but the intermittent electric power steering issue went away as well! Now both the transmission and the steering work perfectly and it's a reliable car again! Thank you Derek and the Transmission Depot crew!

Instead of trying to sell me on a bigger job they fixed the issue and got my vehicle back to me the same day. Will be using Transmission Depot for all future transmission work.

Now my car runs better than it has in the past 4 years. Thank you so much. I highly recommend them. Being a female it is hard to trust mechanics but I trust Lake Sumter Trasmissions.

They were very nice and thoroughly checked my transmission for issues. I was told it was severe and…read moremost likely needed a new trans. It was quite expensive just for the transmission evaluation and if I needed more work it would not be discounted in any way. Despite their polite attitude and fast service, I took it to another dealer which was half the cost for an evaluation and their report was the complete opposite of Lake Sumter Trans!! They suggested a transmission flush and fluid replacement and it absolutely worked. It also cost half as much for what I was quoted at Lake Sumter! My truck is running like brand new. I appreciate the time they took to try and help but there is always a benefit in having a 2nd opinion. Even their explanation of why my engine has issues was totally wrong. They stated it is one of the worst engines/trans and yet the other place said they hardly ever have any issues with this engine and that it is super reliable and low maintenance. They suggested a flush of trans fluid would probably fix it. I guess just google info and kinda know what you are dealing with before you go so you know the "motor" language and don't get talked into something that doesn't sound right. So glad I went to a second place. I was about to sell off my beautiful 2019 Chevy truck with 52,000 miles on it and in mint condition bc I thought I would be spending over $7,000 on a transmission. Do your research!!!!

First off let me say that I initially met with Lisa who was very friendly and seemed trustworthy…read more I explained to her that after a check engine light showed up I had Auto-zone run their scanner on my vehicle. They did so free of charge and returned error code P1757 recommending to replace the governor and possibly the transducer in the transmission. I further explained to Lisa that after the governor and the transducer were replaced, the check engine light returned with the error code P0868. She said they could do a full diagnostics for $150 made be a transmission specialist. She made a note of the recent history on my ticket. I told her I would leave the scanner reports and changed parts in my truck cab in case their technician needed to refer to them. A few hours later, a gentleman who I believe to be the owner called me, saying that they would need me to approve an expense of $600 to $900 for them to finish the diagnostic, because they would need to drop the pan to go further into figuring out what is wrong. I declined and asked when I could pick up my truck. He said he would have to see because they would first have to put my truck back together if I was declining to go any further. I confirmed I wanted my truck back and he said he could have it ready later in the day. When I got there i asked what they had done. it turns out they had only plugged in their scanner and printed out the report. The same type of report I had told them Autozone had done for free and that I had left for their convenience in my truck. I paid my $156 and asked to see the report. obviously it returned the exact same two error codes P0868 and P1757. Nothing more. It took them all but 3mn to start the engine, plug in the scanner, turn off the engine then plug the scanner into their computer and print out the report. So when I remembered that over the phone, the owner had claimed that if I wanted my truck back he would have to see to "put it back together" this was a huge red flag as to their honesty and straight forwardness. When I asked him in person why they did not do more diagnostics then simply running a scanner, when they knew I had already done so, he responded that he was not going to have his guys drop the transmission pan for $150. I would not have had a problem if he had been upfront and had explained that his diagnostics would be nothing more than plugging a scanner. i would have likely skipped that step and asked how much it would cost me to get an actual professional transmission diagnostic. When I got home from their shop, I was surprised to realize that my box with the parts and diagnostics report made by Autozone were no longer in my truck. Needless to say I will find someone else to work on my vehicle.
