He's always dragging his feet and let me tell you how many times we would have to replace them within 4 months. 3 times! So we figured maybe vans would be good. I stop in to this Vans store regularly and have never had a bad experience. Staff are always friendly and helpful and several times they've helped me order out of stock styles shipped to my home. Other pluses? selection is great and the store always has something new, for example, the recent batch of Sailor Moon kicks and clothes. I visit all the Vans stores I come across. Every store always carries something different and they are not all the same. I saw some really good deals and some surprisingly cheap prices on shoes. Vans sells stylish and sporty shoes and clothes. Upon entering the store we see skateboards, shorts, baseball caps, socks and a range of accessories. A good store to browse in, I found a large black purse that I now use for work. Much of the draw comes from the sneakers Vans sells. In the back, the Vans sneaker collection come in different styles that range from classic to the sparkly, to the high tops and to the platforms. Vans sells baby, and children's foot wear. Sometime ago, I purchased a pair of the classic black and white sneakers with the platform sole. They feel like wearing thick socks. They feel that comfortable. Made for skateboarding, the waffle sole does not wear out. But the top trim starts to break after 6 months. I always liked the stylish look of sports mixed with casual wear. I purchased a black and white striped mock turtle neck. Even though the clothes take on the casual look, you can wear it with a neat pair of trousers or a clean pair of jeans to make it more office friendly. The dresses look really cute. However, much of the clothes tend to be expensive. The sneakers cost around $75. If you need a pair of fun looking sneakers, skateboards, pants or an outfit come to Vans. I am so HAPPY, as I finally got my cool retro kicks from the Vans store at the Ala Moana Shopping Center! If you folks had read my previous review back in March 2017 of the Outlet Vans Store in the Waikele Shopping Center, I was looking for this particular pair of retro kicks because I use to wear a pair of these shoes back in da dayz when I was kid. Although the Vans outlet store had the shoes I was looking for, too bad they didn't have my size - (I wear a size 11.........and yes, I have big feet! Lol!). Although I didn't get the pair of shoes I was looking for, I was lucky enough to find two other pairs of Vans for just $20.00 bucks + some change! Can we say Dealages Yo!!!! Fast forward 9 months later.............. while Christmas shopping at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, I decided to pop into the Vans store. Sure enough they had my retro shoes, and they also had my size! Picked me up a pair of size 11.5 slip-on's, checkered board designed shoes! Fast Times with Bruddah Fran here I come!!!! :D Service was Primo Good! I was greeted right away when I entered the store, made my way to the back of the store where they had their display of "Retro Classics". Told the clerk I wanted to try a size 11........it fit okay, but decided to try a 11.5 too. The clerk was quick, and very accommodating in taking care of my needs. I always like vans. comfy casual and stylish. They got cool clothes too and they sell skateboards. I used to skate board down hill and slide a bit, just a novice nothing too crazy but as skate shoes goes I must say the waffle grip soles of vans are far superior to other brand I tried. I'm extra lazy too so I like their prison issue shoes. Official shoe of snoop doggy dog. Its the ones with the 3 velcro straps. Prison issue because prisoners arent allowed to have laces because they make creative weapons out of them. But they get when youre in a rush to go. besides that the pro skate line is great with upgraded insoles and thicker rubber on the toes and stuff. comfy, functionable and durable. The longer you wear them the more it feels like socks. read more

I had a gift card to use, but saved it for use here after receiving zero to crappy service at the Queen Kaahumanu Center location recently. This location is in Ala Moana Center, third level near Macy's. Like at most stores on Oahu, I was commonly greeted and asked if I needed help by numerous employees. You do NOT get that on Maui. SMH. How difficult is this simple process? Not at all! Being a non-fan of shoes, I naturally gravitated to the shirts and tank tops, until my spouse reminded me that I was looking at some shoes a few months ago. Really? I completely forgot. See, I could care less about shoes! I headed to the shoe wall and found some cool gray & white-soled sneakers, and they had it in my size. Perfect. Sold! I ended up grabbing a pair of BMX High and some other items once I learned they updated the inside cushion of the shoe. I was attended to by all the staff and everyone was excited and eager to help. The boy is now 13. Which apparently means he is significantly more expensive and needs things like non-Children's Place clothing and $50 windbreakers for school clubs and $25 for field trips and a saxophone. His feet have also grown, and continue to grow, at an alarming rate and he is now firmly in men's sizes no matter how much I try to shove his foot into the largest sneaker in the kid's section of Ross. Expensive. So for dance club he needed a pair of Vans. I have not ever purchased a pair of Vans in my entire life as I spent the majority of my existence being distinctly not cool. Vans are not for the uncool. They are for people like my gf who can do things like balance on skateboards while they are rolling and look good in sweats and a hoodie AND a beanie. The same outfit in which I appear homeless. So irritating. SO, in we went to the cool kids store and I immediately coveted ten different pairs of shoes. But we weren't there for me, we were there for him. The boy. The boy who wears an 8.25, which is not a real size. Yes, my lips are pursed right now. He actually fit the 8 with no room for even an iota of growth, which I deemed unacceptable. I made the executive decision to purchase 8.5s and have him wear two socks. The Chinese and Korean in me felt this was the best decision for everyone involved. I was delighted to discover the shoes were only $50 and not $80 like I thought they would be. Which, apparently, is a number I made up all on my own. The young fellow working was very helpful and patient, the cashier was great and it was an all-around good experience. Really love going to Vans because they have really nice clothing and skate shoes! I use to be a skater so I like wearing vans high tops. I know a friend that works at Vans name Michael. He gave me his 30% off friend and family discount and I was really happy he gave me one cuz I love Vans. I came in 12/10/2016 to buy new socks cuz my socks had holes in them and michael did mention the buy one get one 50% off so I got 2 socks, 2 flannels for me and my other half. With that discount I also got the 30% off discount and everything was like $50! That was the best deal I ever had! I wish this lasted more longer than I would've bought like 3 Vans shoes. I thought I would be a thoughtful sweet girlfriend and get my boyfriend some shoes. Yes its the thought that counts right? Right! Not only do I barely come into these kind of stores but I don't really know much about their shoes! Luckily I had my girlfriend with me to help me out. So we walked in and walked straight to the back and passed a sales person talking on the phone behind the register and just ignored us. As we get to the back section where all the shoes are displayed on the wall there are about 6 people looking at shoes as well. There was one shoe that caught my eyes quickly, so I asked for the shoe sales person to get my boyfriend size. He went to look for it in the stock room and came out with a size 11.5 when I wanted a 10.5. He said that particular shoe was very popular and that was the only size they had left. I understood how it can run out of sizes but then I asked him if they had the size at the Vans Pearlridge Store. Then he tells me... "I don't know if they have it, you should try to call them" Umm excuse me? isn't that part of your job, is to 1) offer to call them 2) if your that busy have someone else call. Besides that shoe incident they were lucky that I had to get a gift for someone else from the store. Vans is located one level above "mall level" at Ala Moana Shopping Center. It's on the same level as Shirokiya's Yataimura (upper level), Journeys, Hollister, etc. The bf and I were in search of a bday gift for a dear friend and Nordstrom didn't have what we were looking for. Vans has an awesome selection to choose from, and made our job that much easier. The boy helping us (I say "boy" because I'm sure he's much younger than I...) was very pleasant and extremely patient. He stayed close by while we looked, but not too close like lurker status. The shoe we wanted was only available in a few sizes... And of course in the size we wanted, there was only one left--the display. The sales boy let us know that they offer free shoe cleanings at Vans, so buying the display for our friend wouldn't be as bad as I had thought. However, there was some kind of ungodly "glue" stain on the display shoe that couldn't be "cleaned" out. Just our luck. While we looked more, we spotted an even better looking shoe! We ended up happier than we would have been if we bought the display. And now that I know they offer free shoe cleanings, I may just buy those HK kicks I had been eyeing for so long! Shopping with the BF and he wanted some new kicks... even though he has 39034803998238 pairs of shoes (for a dude!)... so we stopped by Vans... he prefers the actual Vans store compared to Pac Sun, Journeys, or the other joints that sell Vans only because they have a larger selection... We went straight to the shoes in the back and he found a few pairs he liked. We were helped right away by a male associate (didn't get his name) and he promptly brought out his sizes... he tried on a pair of red Vans which I wasn't feeling so that was a no... Then he tried on red and black Vans which he liked but they didn't have his size... (mind you still getting good service from ANOTHER person)... Then he found really nice black with a tiny bit of red shoes which he tried in his size (10) and they looked NICE! Only thing was that there was some sort of black thing on the side of one of the shoes which obviously wasn't supposed to be on the shoe... we asked for another 10 but that was the last pair... so ANOTHER person (still getting great service!) went back and got a size 10 1/2 for him to try and then took the 10 to the manager to see what they'd say. Manager said they'd give us 10% off of the shoe if we wanted... KUDOS to the third associate for taking the time to ask the manager and KUDOS to the manager for offering some sort of compensation... In the end the 10 1/2 was too big for him and he passed on the 10% discount because who wants new kicks that already have crap on em?! lol... We thanked the associates and left to check out Pearlridge to see if they had the shoe in the same size (FYI they didn't even have the shoe! LAME! We have yet to hit up Waikele tho)... Went to look for some slip ons for my son the other night. He found one he liked and asked for a pair of socks for him to use and they didn't have any, just the nylon type. We decided not to buy it. My review is long over due. I came here in maybe April or May 2010 and bought a Element Chad Muska (Street Art Topless) deck with grip tape. It was all white deck with a chick on it. The sales associate was a female working (cute). She asked me if I wanted my grip tape on the board. I told her "yes" since I didn't want to go through the hassle of putting it on at home. She seemed really really really eager to put on the grip tape like she had a Bachelors Degree in it. I got to admit that's kind of hot when a cute chick can put grip tape on your board. She put it on like a champ and was flawless. She even sanded the edges which we never really did back in the days. I wonder what would have happened if I bought a complete board. For more perverted thinking = would be even better if she put on the grip tape wearing a bikini. Where were these talented girls when I was young? Anyways, service is good, no pushy sales, not cluttered and everything is easy to find. Seems like they cut down on skateboarding goods and increased more on clothing and soft merchandise. I remember when this store was near hot topic and they had a mini half pipe in the store (2002 ~ 2004) which was cool. Not a lot of 100% skate shops in Hawaii since everyone rather be surfing but thank you for existing. I bet that girl is gone. If she is still there, cheers ! Came in a few days before asking for a specific size for a men's shoe. One guy told me the shoe only runs from a size 8+ when I asked for a 5. He didn't even go look for my shoe. Fortunately, I really wanted that specific pair of shoes and thought I'd try again yesterday (easier since I work in the mall). Ok , there is one dude, Zach. He was very patient with me when I returned some trucks that were too small. With no receipt. He called the mothership or whatever and got the sku number just so I could get what I needed. he should get a promotion and 15 more minutes on his lunch break. Then this other skinny asian dude (don't hate, I am Japanese) that moaned like a zombie that just got stabbed in the femur with a Bowie knife at about 73 decibels when I hadn't even exited the store or paid for my merchandise. Possibly because I made him retrieve so many decks off the rack for me, but hey, isn't it his responsibility to make sure I the customer am satisfied? I put up with much worse doing home renovations. I like the store, it is bright, clean and has decent hottie traffic. Employee wise, I would say a majority of the workers need to treat customers with more respect regardless of how they are treated.
