Every single time I've been here the employees have been extremely rude to me. They shrug off my questions, act like they know everything and treat me like I'm an idiot when I ask for recommendations. I only go here when I'm out of options, otherwise I would rather take the 30 minute drive to Tasty Vapor in Oakland. I am glad to have a store that I can just walk into and buy e-juice, but the guy running this place is a jerk to say the least. One of the worst stores I have been to in Berkeley. The young man who helped me had no interest in selling me anything and seemed like he could care less that I was in the store at all. I know not all places in Berkeley are like this, but because of this I will not be going back to the store simply on principle. The selection is very nil and they charge twice as much for everything in the store. I have heard of making a profit, but this is ridiculous! I grew up in Berkeley and still live here. I spent a ton of time on Telegraph Avenue as a teen, ate many a meal at Fondue Fred's and absolutely love Blue Note. I was looking forward to have another reason to visit the cool business nook at 2556. This won't be one. I walked in to a store devoid of customers. The kid on the sofa, smelling of weed and insolence, vaping away and playing games on his phone didn't acknowledge me until I asked about their product. He handed me a mouthpiece and pointed to the wall, mumbling about something, then went back to his couch. It only went downhill from there. The guy was rude, telling me he had no knowledge about what I was looking for: a liquid that didn't smell like fruit or incense. I asked him a few more questions, and got the same sort of attitude. I asked him if he owned the shop: "Yeah, it's my shop." Then it was "What do you actually want to buy?" I wished him luck with his business and bailed. He wished me luck finding a vapor shop in the area. I guess he's not familiar with the saturation of the vapor supply retail industry i the Bay Area. Honestly, I see how I can be perceived as not the ideal customer. I don't sit around all day, listening to Insane Clown Posse and sucking on a vaporizer. I don't know much about the things. I ask very basic questions. I'm over 40 and not cool. I don't wear a beanie and look like Link from Zelda. In my experience, this makes me a very good customer. When I was in retail, I'd wait around for a guy like me to come into the shop, asking stupid questions with his credit card out, just waiting to be educated and taken to town. I was good at it. That was me today. Easy sale. With a little effort from couch guy, I would have walked out with a new setup and a new supply of juice. Easy hundred bucks. Instead, I went to the place over in Oakland off of Embarcadero, was treated like an adult by a professional staff, and spent my money there. That's my experience. Looks like it is similar to some, and night and day from others. I won't be back to see if I can make it into the other category, as I have found a place that is owned by and staffed by a more socially able population. read more

I love love love these guys. They are so good at making everyone feel welcome even when they are super-busy. Good at teaching "newbies" the basics of vaping. I wish the had a vast selection but what they do have is just fine. And it IS lovely to be able to try before buying. This establishment is great for both newbies and experienced vape-heads in need of juice, batteries or accessories. They carry several sizes of battery, tank atomizers and drip style. Max helped me out and offered candid, honest advice in a low pressure sales environment, which ultimately made me buy more than if I was being hustled. Drawbacks: They do not offer as an extensive selection as they do on some Internet sites and their prices are higher than I'd like, BUT, in context they DO NoT do Internet sales and are conveniently located, thereby have larger overhead. Ok I want to start off by saying Ive only been vaping for 2-3 months now and I knew more about vaping then the guy that worked did. Price: pricing here is quit a bit higher than other vape stores and online stores. Vivi nova heads are 3 bucks which is a bit too high for me. and the guy at the counter did know much about vivi novas. They sell vision vivi novas and heads only. Juice: I tried about 5 flavors when I was there all of them had a similar taste. No flavor jumped out at me as being good. Juice is also on the pricey side. They sampling style is one that I do not like. They have clearomizers in a drawer and also bottles of juice. They give you a alcohol wipe to sanitize the mouth piece of the clearo that you are about to sample. this doesn't seem like the best way to be sampling flavors. Now the guy at the counter seemed like he didn't want to be there. I will not be returning for I can get way better stuff and a wider selection online and other stores. I will not recommend this place to anyone other than a beginner and even then I would most likely recommend another place. It is vapor 5 in Hayward is way better! read more

Great shop with a cool, comfortable atmosphere and the dude who was working when I stopped by was pretty chill. Awesome selection of e liquids (need some lower concentrations though, only had 18mg as a minimum when I was there, if I remember correctly). Also, nice selection of supplies, but I didn't really check that out since I have my own already. But safe to assume they have everything one would need to begin vaping. And if you're considering making the switch from regular tobacco cigarettes (or "analogs," as us nerdy e cig users call them) let me just say that it is significantly better. No cancer, no nasty smell, no hateful looks from people since smokers have basically become social pariahs. And its way cheaper in the long run. Since I began almost 2.5 years ago, I've probably saved a few thousand dollars over buying regular cigarettes. Plus I can easily step down the nicotine concentration when I want to quit. So give this place a try. I'm just stoked that there's a local e cig store... I had never seen a brick and mortar place until randomly stumbling across this one; much simpler than ordering online, and their prices aren't that much higher. And you get to try stuff out first, which is a huge bonus... some e liquids taste like pure ass, and you don't wanna waste a bunch of money on one of them. Try the banana; I don't even particularly like bananas but the flavor is amazing. Also, RY4 is a sort of light tobacco-caramel-vanilla flavor that is many people's favorite. Very light and sweet, something you can use all day. But go check them out for yourself, there's all kinds or even custom flavors. So, in closing, this is way better than smoking, plus you can use them inside which is pretty awesome. Mine does look a bit like a space age crack pipe though. read more

Prices aren't the cheapest here compared to online options, but I find for buying e-liquids it's best to buy here rather than online. You can test out the flavors and get something you like. I am a tourist from Florida and my mother and I came into Vapor Den looking to purchase a new vape and some new liquid. It was in the cutest little place and we immediately got incredible service, we didn't know a whole lot about technicalities of our current vapes and the guy who helped us was incredibly knowledgable and honest about what we should purchase for the best experience. We actually realized that the liquid we usually get in Florida was the wrong type, and we were getting ripped off at our usual store! My mom got the coolest looking vape ever, and we tried lots of delicious flavors. And just to make things even better, the price was AMAZING. Incredible value. We were so happy to have a genuine and warm interaction with somebody about vaping who actually KNEW what he was talking about!!! The "customer service" in this store baffles me. As a customer, I feel that I am more of an annoyance to the retail staff than anything else. Okay, first of all, E-cigarettes rule. I didn't know how much until I met Brian and Jacques (the Vapor Den owners). I had one previously (NJOY) that cost literally 3X as much, wouldn't charge at all within 4 weeks. Then all these 800 numbers and BS until I gave up on replacing it. My Vapor Den purchase is still going strong about 8 months later and I know if I had any problems that Brian or Jacques would fix, replace, or help me in any situation. They have a variety that dwarfs all the local shops, kiosks, and depressing smoke shops, none of which (except the mall kiosks that hock one lame over-priced brand). They have all the goods and all the info, flavors, shapes, sizes, knick-knacks, patty whacks, seriously, you name it. They can even personalize down to the brand of cigarette flavor (I like parliament). I mean, these guys know their stuff. No frills. No ridiculous mark-ups. I was so lucky to find the place, god bless google. The Vapor Den is just two honest, straight-up, laid back guys offering products at an unbeatable price. I stopped in before they had opened officially: walking by, and with an interest in the topic, I was welcomed inside. They showed me the wares and how to use them, offering me a half dozen samples of flavors. It was a low pressure environment, like a shop of this sort should be (but they never seem to be). They guys that run this place are great. I went in not to sure if I even wanted an e-cig of my own. They spent an hour with me showing me the different products as well as the flavors. After deliberation I purchased the 510 starter kit. I have been back a few times for juices and to pick one up for my girlfriend. These guys are brilliant. They are not pretentious, they are local and down to earth. The den itself is cozy and you can chill out there and vape for half hour or so and chat to the lads there. Their pricing is great and like i said they are local so support your local shops especially as nice as these guys are. This place (literally) saved my life. I smoke 2 packs a day, live on the east coast. Tired of spending 600 a month on cigarettes (10 a pack in Philly) and feeling like total crap. Smoked 2 packs a day for 23 years, the heaviest smoker I know. In California for business. Went here hoping for some information. Went in and had no idea what I was even looking at. The guy helped me for 20 minutes. Let me test multiple flavors and recommended I buy the protank and kangertank battery. Awesome. Spent 45 dollars, 2 tanks (one isnt a protank) and 2 batteries, a charger, 2 bottles of liquid and some refill coils. 45 dollars not bad for all that and wanted to give it a good try. Smoked 10 cigs and the vape pen first day. Smoked 5 the second day. Smoked 0 third day and ever since. Was amazed. Went back for more juice because I'm leaving for home soon and didnt want to run out. Different employee was there and was extremely helpful also. Told me whatever I need, call or email and they will ship anything i want across country for 5 dollars. I bought two bottles of juice and asked some questions about staying charged, he gave me recommendations and even gave me another free charger! Couldn't be happier. Yeah, you can get cheaper online, but what I needed was information, and they did exactly that. I'm so happy and I feel so much better physically I'm shocked. Couldn't recommend this place more. Granted, reading the other reviews makes it sound like it depends on who is behind the counter and what kind of mood they are in, but both of my experiences were helpful and friendly. Let me start by saying I love the obnoxious habit of smoking. But a friend set me up with a vaping system, and I figured: okay, no chemicals, just nicotine: perfect. However, it was messy and tricky and .... ENTER THE VAPOR DEN! Several starts and stops, problems, issues: a short time with Orion (hope I spelled it right) fixed the entire set of problems. He KNOWS what he's talking about, he KNOWS the various systems, parts, and how they can work to best advantage, and moreover, he KNOWS what customer service means. On top of all that, he's got a personality that makes him comfortable to talk to; the place gives a relaxed vibe, but still hip. I could hang there all day. Gave it 5 - would give 10 stars if I could. I'll never go anywhere else - and you shouldn't either. I love this place! This is where i first got my initial vaporizer. The price was good and most importantly they carry true joyetech products. If your looking into a pen style vaporizer this is a must go to shop. They do get busy but that because they are the best in the area. Take your tine relax and try some juices. Orion and Max get a big thumbs up for superior customer service and being knowledgeable in every area of vaping. I dont get the bad reviews on here. Brick and mortars have to charge more, stop being so cheap and live a little people. This place is hands down better then Vapor City. I started vaping in May, needed to drop a bad Marlboro Red habit. I walked in the first time for info, and told the guy there at the counter that I wouldn't be buying that day, as I had to wait until payday. He still spent at least 20 minutes going over the details of nicotine levels, tanks, batteries, voltage, really broke it all out to show me the different models - all knowing I wouldn't be making a purchase. Naturally I went back. And they have been nothing but helpful ever since. I have two Evod VV, so I can keep everything full and charged, and finally, after some shopping around in their supplies, found the flavor and dose I need. These guys are great - they have reminded ME twice about getting my card stamped, and the bonus for a filled card is always fun. I wouldn't switch out for online supplies, because I ALWAYS think of another question when I'm standing there, and I do like supporting local businesses too.
