In searching for a collateral asset lender for a personal loan based on a luxury item, I was surprised at the significantly better deal I received from this company, compared to 4 other companies from Los Angeles and South to Orange County. Including a well known "celebrity" lender in Los Angeles who made an awful offer. I would say more but beware and do your homework before cutting a deal. I recieved a much fairer market value estimate on my item, a greater loan to item value amount and a significantly lower interest rate quote almost 50% lower than 1 competitor.. Yelp is to help other potential customers. I'm not one to complain. I am giving information and constructive criticism based on my experience. And I will take responsibility in not doing more research on them to understand their business. But my criticism is this: I called, spoke to a very nice gentleman on the phone. He gave me his email to send pictures of the jewelry I was interested in selling. I sent several emails with pictures of the items. He called back, said they were interested in meeting with me to evaluate the jewelry. I arrived, met with the first gentleman, then a another person came in and my pieces were evaluated for authenticity of gold content and diamonds. But then the owner came in. He was polite and honest and knowledgeable but essentially turned up his nose at my jewelry because it was 15 to 20 years old and an older style. Couldn't they have shown the pictures to the decision maker first to avoid me making a trip during traffic time in the rain? I understand marketability. So, explain that during the vetting process so people don't waste their time. My mistake was misunderstanding what this company wants.... commodities which can be broken down and sold or modern pieces that are "in fashion" and can be sold for a profit right away. That was why I called in the first place...why didn't that get vetted and explained via email and phone? The numbers that were offered to me were completely unacceptable and much lower than what I can get at my local consignment jeweler who takes 25% from the selling price. Again, that is their business, But i would like them to improve on their initial communication and vetting process. So let me start off by saying im in customer service. Because I'm in customer service, I expected the type of service I give to my customers, which is nothing but the best. I also value honesty and im always honest with my customers. So on that note, One of the reasons why I called Vasco was because I looked up reputable jewelry businesses that buys your jewelry and Vasco was mentioned. I called Vasco Assets on Wednesday, 6/13/2018, and I called to make an appointment to get an appraisal on I how much I could get for selling my wedding ring and band. I thought I was so lucky and was going to be taking care of because I got the CEO of the company Larry who informed me that everybody was on lunch so he could take care of me. He asked me for my name, number, and my email. He let me know how the process works where I would take a picture of my jewelry, send any documents that came with my jewelry, and then we could set up an appointment. I emailed Larry and the documents that came with the jewelry, right after we got off the phone, and then waited for my email confirmation to set up an appointment. As I waited, I decided to check out 2 other reputable businesses that were mentioned online. Now my jewelry wasn't that expensive (1200.00)and I knew I wasn't going to get that much but the 2 company's that I went to were extremely honest about the quality of my rings and quoted me a price that was lower than what I expected. At this time, 4 hours had gone by and I still didn't hear back from Vasco Assets. A day went by and no Vasco. Then....I started thinking....did Vasco not email me back because they knew it wouldnt be worth their time to even appraise my jewelry because of the quality? Now I know Vasco looks like a higher end jewelry business that is located in Orange County. But I would recommend that Vasco Assets communicate better with potential clients that they may or may not do business with. I'm assuming they did not email me back because as I mentioned earlier in this review the quality of my jewelry wasnt worth their time. I could be totaly wrong...but I wouldn't be assuming this if I would have been contacted back by the CEO, Larry, by email or by mobile phone. So word of advise... contact potential clients back to let them know if it's at that clients best interests to do business with your company and be honest. When you dont contact them back, it leaves a client to assume , instead of not knowing what's really going on! read more

I didn't know what to expect from Vasco. I first called and spoke to Ari, who asked me alot of questions about my engagement ring. He then shot me his number so I can forward a picture of what I had. Ari was upfront and said it may not be worth you coming over, but once he saw the ring he accommodated me with an appointment same day.
