Excellent service; good breakfast dishes, friendly atmosphere, love it here. You ask for bacon and hash to be a bit crispy and they will be.

This was not my choice for breakfast in town because I couldn't get a seat in my first choice and no one looked like they were leaving any time soon so I stopped here. The place is super dated and dumpy with booths and tables with a small breakfast menu. The meat lovers skillet sounded good with ham, bacon and sausage topped with cheese two eggs and toast. My service was great with no complaints and my food came quick. My meat lovers skillet looked a little pathetic because most of the ham was thin sliced sandwich ham and not diced ham like I have always had like they ran out of ham and there was very little sausage In it, see my pictures. The skillet was ok with nicely cooked potatoes and but it was not a good example of a meat lovers skillet like I had last weekend. My eggs were cooked perfect sunny side up that I made my toast sandwich with. My meat lovers skillet would have better if it had equal amounts of bacon, sausage and ham and had more sausage and diced ham and not loaded up with thin sliced sandwich ham. read more

Small diner that we stopped at for breakfast on a Sunday morning. There was no wait around 9:45am and most tables were full. Service was great! Very friendly and we were checked on often. The food was good. Nothing spectacular but a solid place for breakfast! read more

Food: always great. I've only had their breakfast so I can't say much about their lunch. I go here once in awhile when I dont have eggs at home and their food tastes like as if I made it at home. Which is good since it's cheap. Price: cheap af and so worth the price. 2 people breakfast easily less then $20. Service: always so nice and polite. I'm sure they get cranky like everyone else sometimes. Their human. They deal with people all day but I've always experienced such amazing attitudes. The place isn't the fanciest. So if you're looking for a fancy breakfast don't go here. If you want something low-key where you can look like you just woke up and eat in peace. This is that place. I live nearby and go to Vasili's about once every week or two for usually breakfast but once in awhile lunch. First of all - notice this place closes at 1pm so if you're thinking about a late lunch think elsewhere. Breakfast is good with everything from eggs to skillets to French Toast. Pancakes, etc. They're supposedly known for fluffy pancakes but that's hit or miss as I've had some you could squeeze into a ball and throw across the room. Usually they're good. Hash browns are good but if you're paying for a side order let them know you expect a bigger portion than what's included with the two eggs and toast special. Service is pretty good although after a few coffee refills you may have to flag down your waitress. My lunch experience is limited to club sandwiches and burgers and both are good as are the homemade fries. Soup is included with most lunches (as are fries) and most are also good. All in all - a very nice inexpensive option for breakfast and lunch in Elkhorn. Just remember it closes at 1 - which often costs it my business - 2pm would accommodate a greater audience. read more

Service was quick to order but took a long time to be served, 30+ minutes and food was okay (not as requested, but ok).... 2 stars... WHY... It is wrong to add a surcharge for using a card... a percentage of the bill..... and I was not informed before charging my card. It's a known fact that the venders charge is a tax deduction. So this is straight up Price gouging... IF the food was fabulous and the service was top notch... but it's NOT... Love this place for breakfast. I saw a recent review that said portion size was small but I've never seen that here. Food is delicious and portions plentiful. They're also taking COVID precautions; employees wear masks, individual disposable salt and pepper packets, other condiments only as requested, etc. Many other restaurants in the area are not taking precautions like this. Was visiting the Elkhorn area for a concert at Alpine Valley and decided to venture into town and check out some lunch options before the show. We passed a couple places and could have probably found some more on the Garminfone, but ended up at Vasili's. This place is weird. Just a weird kind of vibe there. There was a weird smell when we entered. Not a bad smell, just...old. As were most of the patrons. Whatever, it's a small-town diner-type place so I put it all aside because a. I was hungry and b. we were already there. The menu was pretty basic - breakfast and lunch only, I think. I went with the bacon cheeseburger deluxe (which pretty much means you get fries and soup with it). The soup was beef barley. Sorry - not a fan. The burger was average and hit the spot. Our waitress was sweet and pretty on top of it. Despite feeling a bit like an interloper, it was an all right experience. I won't say I'd never go back, but I'll definitely be pulling out the ol' Garmin if I ever find myself in the area again. read more

Look, I'm no foodie and sometimes all I want is a plate of potatoes, hash, eggs, and toast. I need it. I hunger for it. Vasili's definitely delivers the satiation I so desperately desire. It's got the small town charm, the delightfully friendly waitress who aren't afraid to bicker with the customers, and that certain not-so-great-yet-somehow-wonderful quality you only find in midwest diners. This is my go to lunch spot. My job is fairly labor intensive and there really isn't anything better than walking up to the counter, plopping down on the slightly cushioned stool, having my coffee waiting for me, and doing that dance with my waitress where she asks if I need a menu. I say yea, maybe I'll try something new. But it's always the hash and potatoes. And it probably always will be...except for next time. Maybe. And it always comes out so fast that I feel like they've been expecting me. And that's what you should want in a diner. read more

A friend and I were in the area for the Pearl Jam shows at Alpine Valley and were looking for a bite before heading to the venue when we came across Vasili's. And what a nice find it was! We got there around 1pm on Sunday and after a few raised eyebrows from the regulars that were filling half the tables we slid into a comfy booth. I quickly selected a patty melt and was very happy with the order. They sell their sandwiches with a cup of soup, which on this day was beef barley - which was not too bad at all. You can make the order a deluxe and add fries, cole slaw, etc., which I did cuz that's how I roll. My friend got a bacon cheeseburger and was also very pleased with the meal. Our waitress was super nice, which helped make up for her forgetting about us at times - they close at 2pm so I'm guessing she was busy doing side work. Not exactly a foodie experience, but I wasn't looking for that. It definitely did hit my diner-style food jones dead center. I recommend Vasili's to anyone else that might have that same thought, and if I'm in town again I'll probably give them a try for breakfast. read more

There are a few sit-down places in the Elkhorn area that you can go for a good breakfast, but nowhere is anywhere as fast as Vasili's. The food is perhaps uninspired (basic breakfast fare), but it's good, and the service is always excellent... and did I mention how fast they are? I swear, there have been times I've ordered and had the food arrive within minutes. If you want a basic breakfast, no frills, no gimmicks, and FAST, Vasili's is the best choice in Elkhorn. read more

Typical Andy-of=Mayberry joint. My son wanted Rice Krispies which came in a little box, complete with bugs inside. (I shudder to think how long this box was on the shelf).
