Whenever I'm in town to visit my daughter and her family we always visit Vasilis! It's one of my favorites! The vibe and food are amazing!

I was so hopeful on this place. They couldn't ask for a better location and the place itself was clean and very nice inside. I really had such high hopes. Where it went down from there was slow service - very slow. As for the food - it was highly disappointing. I felt everything was heavy in oil/butter. I was expecting better quality especially because the items were pricy. Everything had a burnt grill taste (need to clean your grills/pans). My son's gyros tasted like fish so I am assuming nothing was fully cleaned from cooking dish to dish. I ordered halibut and it didn't taste fresh and it really was heavy... fish needs to be light but this was almost soaked in oil and cooked and then sent out. Even the vegetables were not cooked properly... half cooked carrots with artichokes pulled out of a can and placed around the fish. Overall, I would not return especially because every dish was a failure. I hate leaving reviews like this because they are harsh, but when an establishment charges high prices, you want to warn people to be cautious. If you are looking for high quality, clean tasting food not heavily oiled - this is not the place for you! There are a ton of places in Naperville or nearby areas that you can get a decent meal and for far less with much more quality. Hopefully they will make some improvements because I never want to see any place fail. read more

It was my time visiting this restaurant. The atmosphere on a Saturday night was lovely, we had a riverside table which made our night even more special. The service was great, food came out promptly, everyone was polite and courteous. We ordered an appetizer trio with taramosalata, htipiti and skordalia. Everything always finger-licking delicious! As a main course I ordered shrimp souvlaki and my husband ordered lamb kleftiko. My dish was absolutely yummy, so good that I am going to order it again next time I visit Vasilis. The shrimp was juicy with a smoky, tangy flavor that created and absolute party in my mouth. Yum! However, my husband's lamb was not very good. The whole thing contained probably an inch of lean meat and the rest of it was pure fat. The dish juggled on plate and was completely unappetizing and gross. Not sure exactly how that happened with a lamb shoulder. It was extra disappointing because it was highly recommended by our server. My husband ended up leaving most of it on the plate and I shared my order with him so he doesn't go hungry. On a positive note, I wanted to shout out a special thanks to Paisley! She was extremely kind, hospitable and welcoming! She has made our night so much more special and we really appreciate it. Vasili's has AMAZING Greek food and that's all you need to know. We visited for the first time a couple of weekends ago. Everything was hot and flavorful and the portions were well worth the price while not being too much. Truly I think about the flatbread, the broccolini, and the lamb chops often. Their cocktails are also wonderful: interesting and creative and beautiful looking. We had great service as well. Out waitress Krystal spent a lot of time with us whenever she was at our table, building great rapport with her personality. It was VERY busy (every table was packed, and plenty of walk-ins were at the door trying to get a spot) but the staff were all constantly back and forth checking on everyone's tables to make sure things were up to par--which is an experience we haven't had at many of the other ultra-popular restaurants in the Western suburbs where you are often waiting 15-30 min to be checked up on by anyone lol. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of how loud Vasili's is and how small the tables were. Staff had to play a tetris game to fit our entrees on the tiny high top as the main came out while we were still finishing the apps. I'd say the best way to dine here is with a group as you will be seated in a booth or a much larger table. Still, they have a really lovely space in a great location and the food and service make up for those annoyances. I definitely see why it's so popular and we will be back again. read more

This was not for 4 people at all. It barley fed 3 people. Lamb chops were missing,chicken was missing, and the plate was filled with potatoes. I reslly think they ran out of meat ..So why did she tell us to order potatoes when it comes with potatoes. Called over the manager and explained the issue he agreed to take off the potatoes and adjust the bill. Not even was sorry for the issue ..We asked for check and when it arrived nothing was taken off the bill and all of a sudden the waitress develop an attitude and never said anything to us again I will never return to this place again. Our family has dined here 4 different times and each time we were not disappointed. Our daughter, a picky eater loves the zucchini and eggplant chips. She doesn't even know it's eggplant that she's eating! The serving for the gyros is very generous and pita bread was warm when it was served. Stopped here for late brunch on a Saturday with my sister, BIL, and my nephew. Plenty of room for a high chair at the table. The food was fantastic. Another great experience at Vasili's! It has easily become one of my fave restaurants in DT Naperville. I recently tried their feta brined chicken and OMG soooo good. I can't tell you how unbelievably good this chicken is. So tender and juicy. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The portions are always huge so it's definitely enough to share among two people. My only disappointment is that they took the Brussels sprouts off of the menu. I recently attended a concert in Naperville and decided to try Vasili's based on Yelp reviews. Since it was a Friday night and we didn't have a reservation, we walked in around 6:30 PM. We were promptly seated, but the table was right at the entrance, which wasn't ideal. I asked the hostess if we could move to one of the other open tables, but she refused rather curtly. Fortunately, our waitress overheard and kindly offered to move us to another table in her section, which was much appreciated. We ordered the dip trio and the lavraki (branzino) with sides of rice and Greek potatoes. The dip trio lacked authenticity and depth of flavor, but the lavraki, stuffed with spinach and feta, was well-seasoned and delicious. The sides were excellent, especially the Greek potatoes. Overall, our server was outstanding and deserved a 5/5. The food was good, but I'd rate it a 4/5. Would I return? Maybe, but given the price point, there are other more authentic options available. read more

Too pricey for what you get. We visited on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly and someone arrived to take our drink order. I'm gluten free, so I hoped to get a gluten free beer, a hard seltzer or something like a High Noon (vodka with sparkling water). They didn't have any of those. We got the Saganaki which was average size and presented with the flames. People in my party had fish or souvlaki. I decided to eat lighter and ordered the Village Salad. The description says it has tomatoes in it, but it was pretty much all tomatoes. There was some feta but very few kalamata olives. I added shrimp to it which was 3 pieces of medium sized shrimp for $9. Just so not worth it! Everyone at my table had the same reaction to the food as in "why is it so expensive". It was good, but nothing fabulous. FYI the parking situation can be kind of dicey so plan ahead. We tried the garage at Hotel Indigo and there were no spots so we had to cruse around to find some street parking. read more

Good and bad We started with a trio appetizer where you pick 3 of the sauces and it comes with pita bread. They have hummus, a garlic potato mash, fish roe, and a couple more to choose from. The appetizer was really good. It was me and 1 other person and we weren't sure what to order, so we got a sampler platter of meats so we could try them all. It had lamb chops, sausage, lamb shoulder, and a couple other meats. They ask how you want the meat cooked and I said medium rare. When the food came it was more medium well which I wasn't happy about, but what can you do. They would have to start from scratch....I don't want to do that either. I felt their meat platter wasn't very good, so if that represents their finest meats I'd say I'll pass. On top of that the service was pretty bad. The only cool thing about this place is the outdoor seating. They have this plush green carpet outside so you feel like you're in the grass or something. read more
