Always a wonderful experience! We went for my husband's birthday, and everything was perfect. We had a dip trio (always order extra pita!!), and lamb souvlaki, gyros, pastitsio, and a special seafood Youvetsi. All yummy, though I found the Youvetsi overly salty, but the underlying grill flavor was divine. I had the gyros, which was huge, crispy, and some of the best I've ever had. Even the tomato was so fresh I'd have thought they picked it just for me. Ended up with banana cream napoleon and bougatsa for dessert. The service was beyond amazing, and food was hot. Only downsides... rather than raising prices they tack on an extra 3% that sneaks in the bill. And the prices were already very high. ($260 before tip). We were also charged $2 more for the dip trio than was on the menu. And while I know it's common these days, it was very noisy. I'd recommend eating outside if the weather allows, if you want to have conversations. We'll still go back though. Just not often for that cost. read more

Went to Vasili's with my (Pilates) friends last week. They sat us at a round table easy to talk with five of us. The restaurant was very loud, however, and it was hard to hear each other. Usually I enjoy this restaurant, especially the black cod. This time I ordered a special fig and peach salad and added lamb for the protein. The salad was good with the fig and peaches, but the lamb skewer was overdone and grizzly. Even though the meat was not cooked to medium rare, it was tender around the grizzle. I ended up spitting out the pieces I couldn't chew. Not really ladylike, but my teeth just couldn't work through the tough and stringy pieces. This visit was disappointing. The highlight was being with friends. My salad was just meh. I did like the combination of figs and grilled peaches. read more

It's a cute place on the river walk. We parked near the sled hill and walked to the restaurant on a nice weather day. The walk back was so refreshing. We dinner on the patio, it was a beautiful evening and we had a great impromptu dinner. The food was amazing and our server was very friendly. I noticed someone in a nearby table was annoying her but she was able to quickly fix her mood and not pass on the annoyance to her other customers. We got the veggie chips too share, the do was an amazing yogurt besides dip. I got the falafel dinner and it was so good and filling! The restaurant inside was decorated pretty with dim lighting. The restroom was clean and well decorated. My only issue was that once I got home, I felt some acidity in my stomach which usually happens if I eat fried food cooked in used oil. Came here on a whim because they were accepting walk-ins and was pleasantly surprised You absolutely have to try the saganaki cheese dish with pita and the dip trio was also yummy (I wish they gave us more pita though). Coming here on Valentine's Day, I knew it'd be busy, but it wasn't just busy. It was insanely packed. We had a reservation at 6:00, but weren't seated until 6:25. It was Vday though. I have to give them a bit of a pass for that. An added plus that they were handing out complimentary drinks for everyone waiting for their tables. They call their food "Mediterranean" and it is, but more specifically, it's Greek. It's not your typical street food kind of Greek restaurant though. It's definitely more elevated. We ordered pita and a trio of sauces as a starter. It was a great way to start the meal. We also ordered olives and feta. The olives were plentiful. I ordered the faroe salmon and enjoyed it, but my salmon was a bit dry. It was overcooked. Again, the place was so slammed that I had to give them a pass for that. The flavors were great and worth a try again. We also ordered the sweet potatoes for the table. They were wedges and quite good. Enough that I brought home my leftovers. Didn't want to waste the few that were left. Dessert was a cake soaked in pineapple syrup and topped with ginger ice cream. I love both of those flavors, so I quite enjoyed it. It was very shareable. Recently visited Vasili's for our anniversary and had a great night out. The vibes are very hip, Chicago style fine dining. Busy, bustling, tables very close together, but you feel trendy just being here. This was our first Greek food experience and we loved it! We enjoyed keftedes (lamb meatballs in a tomato sauce) and chicken skewers and both were great! But the real star for us was the dip trio with fresh pita bread. We chose hummus, skordalia (whipped garlic potato) and tirokafteri (whipped feta and red pepper). I want to go back and just eat all of these all night oh my gosh they were all AMAZING! There is so much light and it has a great Mediterranean feel. The server was great and even the people helping her were awesome. This is our go-to restaurant in downtown Naperville! I have dined here plenty of times and have never been disappointed. They are very accommodating and everyone is so friendly. The Vasili chips is a must! The veggies are cut thin enough that you get a nice crispy bite and the tzatziki that comes with it is delicious. The mussels are also delicious and seasoned well. We had someone in our party of 6 running late but it didn't matter. Drinks we ordered took a long time. Apps we ordered took a long time. The person who was 30 minutes late was there before we got any of it. Had to ask twice for a kids menu (no crayons even after request). We had the spread trio which was tasty, served with extra bread. Ordered our entrees and this is where it went south. Things came out randomly. 2 of us waited uncomfortably for our entrees and one of the sides. No apologies or anything. RIbeye over cooked. Gyros just warm. Potatoes tasty but lukewarm. The lone bright spot was the lamb shank that was fall off the bone delicious. Brought to the table late, but piping hot. It was a busy night but service was really lacking. A delicious Greek spread at Vasili's! We started off with the spanakopita, and their disassembled version allows for the phyllo to stay crispy in between the delicious layers of spinachy goodness! We split the lamb shank over couscous & keftedes (lamb meatballs in tomato sauce with a baguette) and both were excellent. The restaurant itself is beautiful and located in the heart of the Riverwalk, however would definitely recommend making a reservation as it's very crowded, even on a week night. My husband and I had dinner here to help celebrate my birthday and liked it. Service throughout was consistent and quick. I started out with a gin based drink and it was a miss for me. My husband tried their tequila based drink and it was also a miss for him. Since both drinks were not great, idk if we'd order cocktails again. We may stick to wine from there going forward. For food we tried the saganaki, grilled calamari, falafel, chicken souvlaki and the pineapple revani. Things were hit or miss. The falafel was just OK. I didn't find it to be anything special but still decent. The grilled calamari was a big time miss. The calamari itself was very bland and chewy. It tasted like it was frozen, thawed out then boiled. I did not like it at all and would pass on it completely. The sauce in it was good but it was so unfortunate that the calamari was just so bad. Okay! The good stuff - We both enjoyed the saganaki and the chicken souvlaki. I'd order both of those items again. The chicken was slightly overcooked, but thankfully the flavors made up for it. I also loved how it had the char grilled taste to it. For dessert I wanted to try something different and ordered the pineapple revani. For me it had too much going on and it was way too sweet. Came here for the first time on a Sunday evening for dinner and it was an early dinner that luckily I made a reservation for. However, upon arriving, I was surprised that there were already peopledining. We had a great table towards the back of the restaurant, right by the windows and even though it was a rainy day, it was great to see outside. Our waiter Keegan was super friendly, very patient and also very honest and helpful with the menu. As you can tell from the photos, we ordered quite a few different items from appetizers as well as entrées and desserts. The restaurant is named after the owner's father-in-law who is Greek. And while the restaurant is definitely Greek, it also has some strong Mediterranean influences as well. I would describe this as modern Greek while still staying true to some very traditional menu items and cooking styles. This is evident with items like the lokoumades and the pastitsio. I would definitely come back here again and this turned out to be a very lucky find. And on Sundays this street has free parking, which is very convenient. The ambience is definitely modern clean, natural, almost Mykonos style due to the amount of white, but also due to the amount of Matte finished Wood. read more

You'll want to start with the trio spread to try a variety. We really liked the Taramosalata and the Skordalia the best. If you're not a fan of garlic, then don't get the latter. We shared the Roasted Beets Salad which has red and gold beets on top of cheese that does a nice job of balancing out the honey vinaigrette and beet texture. The combo was a nice platter to share with our table as it came with lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, loukaniko, roasted potatoes, and a grilled pork item which was a bit dry. The chicken souvlaki and loukaniko were our favorite items as they had the best flavors and cooked just right. Overall Vasili's is a nice place for the vibes and drinks, but the food came in under expectations especially the main courses. I've done here before and had good experiences. That being said this last one was horrible. I called the general manager and spoke to him after our meal, and I thought somehow things would be taken care of but buying an appetizer too didn't really cover the problems we experienced in my opinion. Like I said it was my 50th birthday and I wanted to spend it with my nine year-old father. The food, the service and overall everything was absolutely horrible. There aren't many more occasions like this due to my father's age. GET HER TO THE GREEK Ladies are sure to love this trendy Mediterranean place in downtown Naperville. Vasili's serves nouveau Greek cuisine with Napervillian pricing, which is to say it's expensive but not unreasonably so. The restaurant is on the south bank of the river, next to Blue Sushi Sake Grill and across the street from Quiubo. I've been here twice now, and my wife thrice, all terrific experiences. The spread trio ($16) is a nice variety sampler, unfortunately the tzatziki was a weak effort. It's supposed to be a blend of cucumber, garlic and herbs, but all we could taste was yogurt. The taramasalata (fish roe spread) and htipiti (feta & roasted red pepper) were great, however. 4/5 They wisely opted not to tinker with the saganaki ($12) or the choice to flambé it tableside. Better still, they use kefalograviera cheese (one of the better cheeses to use, alongside kefalotyri). The spanakopita ($18) is different than what you might expect but the layered spinach & feta pie is quite tasty. 5/5 Lamb souvlaki ($31) is wonderful despite being served sans-grains. I understand that it's a shareable plate and not an entrée, but c'mon, for thirty bucks would it kill them to include a cup of orzo? I wasn't crazy about having to order a side of rice ($11), even though it was a fair portion size. 4/5 For dessert, the table was divided on the pineapple revani ($12). My dad & wife enjoyed it, but my mom and I felt there was way too much going on with a semolina cake soaked in syrup, almonds, mint, and vanilla-ginger ice cream. The loukoumades (donuts with honey & walnuts, $12) were unanimously delicious. 4.5/5 Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 5 Our server, Isaac, took good care of us. Staff were accommodating to our party of 4 adults + 2 littles, bringing us a highchair and sitting us at a corner table with a view of the river. This was the best case scenario, since we had a folded-up stroller and extra baggage for the kids. Not being trapped in the middle of a crowded dining floor put my nerves at ease. Vasili's has a nice outdoor patio with heaters, and there's a snazzy fountain within penny-tossing distance. Although street parking is available, spots are limited so you'll probably wind up parking in the free garage 1/2 block west of here. They missed a few things with service, but made up for it by comping us a meal and offering complimentary champagne to celebrate our guests birthday. I have been here several times and the food is always delicious but this last time I went I was blown away . These were the best lamb chops I have ever tasted in my life. They were juicy and full of flavor and came with a pesto sauce that wasn't even necessary. I'm ashamed to say that I cleaned the bone ...not even a bite of fat remained. I loved they had valet parking available for $12. There is also free parking available near by. Really liked the decor and aesthetics of this place and bonus points for outdoor patio. We decided to sit outside. Our server arrived promptly and helped us decide a nice variety of dishes to try. We had the house salad, a trio of spreads, vasili's chips. We like all three of the starters and it was a great start. For the entrees we got the Penny's Pastitsio, Lavraki ( sea bass) , Flat Iron Steak , and Souvlaki ( lamb). Cute place on the Riverwalk. We tried their breakfast plate and breakfast gyros. Plating was pretty. Gyros was basic gyros with 2 pitas and one fried egg on top (for breakfast). Your standard gyros. Service was non existent although it was completely not busy with 5 tables for 2 servers. Ours basically took our order then forgot us. We had to chase her down for hot sauce which she charged us extra 2 dollars on the bill for hot sauce. Water on the table was basically room temp tap water. If that service wasn't an in-your-face-you-are-not-welcome, I don't know what it was. We should have tried Santos Cielo instead. It was a waste of valuable weekend brunch opportunity for us.
