Vaughn's is a certainly a neighborhood staple for soul food, specializing in Fish. I ordered a small fried chicken dinner served w/ fries + slaw ($9) and a fried catfish dinner w/ fries and slaw ($10). Both orders totaled $19. Good sized food portions. Waited about 50 minutes for both meals to be ready. I definitely recommend calling ahead to place an order. The parking area is not ideal b/c the restaurant is located at a busy intersection. But nonetheless, the food is good and I will return.

This has always been one of my favorite spots to get fish. A fish nugget with some shrimp, hits every time. Service is fast and friendly.

The front of the shop is very dated, so don't judge a book by its cover. However, The fish and chips are still the best. Legal who?

The outdoor area is inviting, and inside there's a great mix of low-top tables, high-tops, bar seating, and cozy spots to settle into. Everything feels thoughtfully spread out, and I loved being able to see the open brick oven and activity in the kitchen. The space also has a bit of a bakery/café vibe, making it feel like a place where you could stop in for a quick grab-and-go item or stay awhile for a full meal. The staff made a great impression too. The people at the front were incredibly helpful to my guest, who was having some trouble with their phone. I also ordered one of the specialty drinks but asked for it without alcohol. The bartender absolutely nailed it--it was so good that my only complaint was that it didn't come in a bigger glass. For food, I had the grass-fed burger and fries (see photo), and it exceeded my expectations. The burger was so juicy and flavorful that I ended up cutting it into pieces just to make it manageable. Every bite was delicious. What I appreciate most is that I left feeling like I hadn't even experienced everything the restaurant has to offer. I already want to go back, choose a different seat, and enjoy a completely different perspective of the space. Honestly, it feels like the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon. This is your sign, visit now!

5 stars for the pastries. 5 stars for the pizza…read more 5 stars for the brick oven. 5 stars for the obvious quality of the food, presentation, and the business in general. 1 star for hiring DOZENS of spoiled kids from the neighborhood to the cafe where they routinely ignore a customer in an empty restaurant for an awkward 4 minutes. I burned a hole into the backs and sides of their heads and left no gratuity to the failson that decided to finally acknowledge me. 1 star for the never-changing menu.

Went here the other night with 6 friends. We were excited to try the newly revamped space…read more We were nervous about getting a table, but then the place was empty, with a couple of people at the bar and 1 other table. What we got: - Gnocco fritto - Bruschetta - Arancini - Orecchiette - Bolognese - Sausage and lentils - Chicken parm - Skillet chicken - Radicchio salad We had high hopes, but besides the apps, everything was disappointing. How can you call yourself an Italian restaurant but not cook pasta correctly? The pasta for the Orecchiette, Chicken Parm, and Bolognese were all VERY overcooked. The pasta for the Bolognese was basically mush. We actually sent that dish back and came back just as overcooked. They need to figure out how to cook pasta. Service was also bad. Our apps and mains came out at different times. Water glasses went unfilled, and I had to go find salt and pepper on my own. Also, there were two employees, maybe a manager and kitchen staff, who were sitting at a table next to us doing event planning while talking on the phone on speakerphone. It really ruined the vibe. Slim chance we will go back. Very disappointing.

Overall, we had a really good time here. The weight staff is really nice and attentive. The space…read moreitself is very beautiful. One thing I wish was that the menu was a little bit bigger. There weren't many options for someone with dietary restrictions like me. The cocktails were not my favorite, but if you're into something a little more bitter, you should be fine. The Arancini was amazing! Not sure that I tasted squash, it almost tasted like a mac & cheese. Nonetheless, it was very good. The shrimp risotto was nice. The rice was very thick, but I would have it again. The chicken Parm was also very cute. Not too much sauce, which was perfect. I'd be interested to go back as the menu changes.

Was in the area and decided to pick up some Jamaican food for dinner. The reviews from Only One…read moreseemed very promising so I gave it a try. It's a small shop , takeout only. You order first then pay at the end of the line. The folks behind the counter are nice and they give you so much food! I was deciding between the oxtail and the jerk chicken.. but someone mentioned that they have the most tender oxtails here so I went for that. The total was around $23, which seems a lot but this easily is 2-3 servings, so it's really worth the price. The oxtail was indeed very tender and flavourful. The rice & peas were also filled with flavour and cooked well. The cabbage I'm not a huge fan of, but I gave it a try. Will probably skip that next time. 10/10 will be back! Maybe for the jerk chicken.

This place gave me faith that there's good Jamaican box lunch in Boston without having to cook it…read moreat home. My go-to box lunch is always fried chicken, rice&peas with curry gravy and raw veg.. di ting UP.. I even got a likkle piece of goat spill over with the gravy. *blush* The fried chicken was nostalgic of high school days. My husband got a mix box with curry goat and jerk chicken, he wanted food but they only had boiled dumpling at the time so he got rice snd peas. He enjoyed his meal too. We also got a small cup of their carrot juice to share - just like mummy makes it mmm. They had carrot cake and red velvet cake the time. I was going to go with the carrot since it was easter time but the 2 ladies I asked rated the red velvet higher so I got that. The red velvet cake was SO light and airy I basically inhaled it. They have high ledges to stand and eat your food but no seating available. The ladies in the shop were nice. Order with confidence + surity and yuh good.

Came here on a whim with my friends and family, and I wish I wouldn't have. Between the food,…read moreservers, and the drinks it's a strong no for me. Walked in and it wasn't busy, pretty dimly lit insides but I appreciated that there were plenty of tvs to watch the games. Plenty of seating by the window, bar top and booths. For starters it took forever for the waitress to bring waters, that I had to ask for. When we asked basic questions about the menu, Laura acted as if we were bothering her. She forgot to put in drinks and then go upset that the food I ordered wasn't up to par. Philly egg rolls - 4/10 they are definitely pre made, like weeks in advance most likely because they were so rubbery and hard to even bite. I mentioned this to the waitress and she demanded that they remake them vs me not wanting them anymore. (We ordered two orders of them and I only sent one back) Calamari 2/10 -it was soggy and then drenched in like a nasty marinara sauce. We made the waitress aware of this as well and she had it remade although I specifically stated I didn't want it, and would even still pay for it. Lamb burger 6/10 -the lamb was juicy but could use a little more flavor. The fries were soggy but okay BYO burger 3/10 - wasn't prepared as we asked, and it really just taste like ground beef and that's all. Even with the added toppings Cowboy burger 7/10 - wasn't bad but if it didn't have onion rings etc on it then it would taste bland like the other burger Lamb lollipops - 8/10 - these were good and had a decent amount of flavor to them. The jalapeños on the side are extremely spicy and good "Buffalo chicken" nachos 3/10 - there was barely any Buffalo chicken on the nachos, they seem to put the shredded cheese on the chips and then melt the so they're hard to pull apart. On top of tasting stale. I used the jalapeños from the lamb to eat with nachos to give them more flavor Salmon w/ jasmine rice 7.5/10- the salmon was a little dry but paired well with the jasmine rice. Could use a little sauce on the side but it was good Sweet heat wings 8/10 - these were really good and were cooked well. The sauce isn't too spicy and just the right amount of sweetness Drinks - Blueberry limeade 2/10 - taste like juice and had to go to the bar to ask for it because the waitress didn't put it in. When I went to ask the bartender if the drink was ready, since I couldn't find the waitress, she made the drink on the spot for me. Apple cider margarita - 5/10 wasn't horrible but the rim on the glass was excessive and mainly taste of cider.
