If you headed over on a night with trivia arrive early. The parking lot is small and once it fills up there isn't anywhere else to park. They do offer a significant discount on your first drink if you uber over because of this issue which is a nice spin.

Spacious interior with plenty of tables as well as seats at the bar. We sat at the bar, and the bartender (Chrissy) was super friendly and also a fellow teacher! The beer was good with one standout - the Kalapa which is a coconut milk stout on nitro which was absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of German beers and Germany in general, so it was also nice to see they had quite a few German style beers on tap as well. We live an hour away so I can't say we'll be back anytime soon, but it was a very nice place to spend a few hours and can definitely recommend it to other beer lovers.

This place is popular with folks enjoying time with their family and friends and it even looked like a couple of small celebrations were taking place, which made our hearts happy. We enjoyed a flight and chose the Rustle dunkel, Tightrope schwarzbier, Resting Grinch face winter warmer, and the Boo-Yah porter. Loved them all and they have much more on tap, including hard seltzers as gluten-free options. The server wasn't too friendly, but it's all good brother. I had a Hazy IPA while enjoying some food from one of the restaurants within the market. They recently acquired MD brewery DuClaw as well and continue to brew their beers and distribute under the same name. They distribute widely across NJ, PA, NY so it's pretty easy to find at liquor stores and restaurants, and I've had their beers many times over the years. Their beer is pretty solid with some fun and inventive offerings. My girlfriend and I stopped into their taproom for the first time on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite possibly the worst taproom we've ever been to out of 80+ NJ breweries we have visited together. It looks like they concentrate all of their time and effort on production and distribution and have not spent any time creating a decent place to hang out. Almost no decor. All plastic cups (a personal pet peeve of mine in breweries). Not even a permanent bar of any kind. There were only four other people the whole time we were there so the atmosphere was pretty dead. We ordered flights, and the names of the beers were written in abbreviations right on the cups which made it impossible to read on the darker beers. But the beer was very good! We really enjoyed our flights and bought a six pack of the imperial pumpkin ale to bring home with us. We'll continue to drink their beer, but I don't recommend coming to the taproom at all.

So do forgive me. This brewery popped up on my IG (because of course it did) in the context of a monthly book club that they host in partnership with Somerset County libraries. I've spent the better part of the last 20 years primarily reading articles and books related to my grad coursework but made a commitment last fall to return to leisure reading that doesn't make me want to walk into the business end of the ocean à la Edna Pontellier. Take your time - I'll wait. I went for my first Books n Brews last month. The brewery has a classic wooded open concept downstairs, and a party loft upstairs where we have book club. It's BYOFood - at least on winter weekdays - summer and weekends may offer food trucks so please check before taking me at my word. The beer is really really good. I LOVE that there isn't an abundance of IPAs and I love a good hazy but brother please. Enough. They've got some good fruit/sour representation. The first time I went I got a cardamom beer, this week I snagged a currant forward hazy. Prices are reasonable and the vibes are great. They also have an outdoor picnic table area - my new book club buddy said that the outdoors is dog friendly and they regularly bring their pups. I'm both very excited for book club and for experiencing more of this brewery as the temps warm up.
