I waited at the register since there wasn't anyone around, but then the friendly worker came out from over by the coffee area. Apologized and rang me up. He: The pie is 50% off Me: What? He: Yes Scored! They offer the discount when the pie is a day after its "sell by" but it was still delicious! Ok, so now I'm going to stop in when I'm in the neighborhood. I still would've paid full price because I love Julian pies! Great little market!

Went to the deli section to place our order and can I ask a question. Does it really take 30 minutes to make a sandwich? It seemed like the workers were working at snail speed. Everyone had a stank look on their face and looked very unhappy. Not saying you have to be bright at the job but it felt very off putting. After standing in line like we were at in an amusement park, finally got our sandwiches sat down and enjoyed them very much. The Island Baja has the perfect amount of ingredients in the sandwich, tasted so fresh and so delicious. The tomato, cucumber, sprouts, baja mayo sauce, avacado and chicken was such a good combo and it wasn't to filling which is perfect. Mrs. Gorger got the tuna sandwich and I personally don't like tuna but that HIT the spot. It was very tasty. Overall, food was amazing and would definitely go back there again. Always look forward to buying a deli sandwich during my lunch break but just for them to take my order takes them at least 10 minutes! Mind you, I only get a 30 minute lunch break. And the prepping time takes them 15 minutes! That's already 25 minutes wasted of my lunch just waiting for my sandwich. Today I order a Turkey Wrap. Took them 5 whole minutes for them to take my order and a whole 10 minutes to make my wrap. There was no line for sandwiches except an order of two sandwiches but all I saw were the workers chitchatting amongst each other instead of prepping (hence doing their job). Got my wrap and paid which took less than 2 minutes. While eating my wrap I noticed that my wrap didn't even have turkey in it. Headed over to the deli to see if they could make me a new one but immediately turned around because their workers were just chitchatting with each other and there was already a long line of people waiting on their order. Just went to the cashier to ask for my refund. Didn't even take a picture because I was already so disappointed and frustrated that I just wanted my money back. I stopped by on a Monday afternoon and there was plenty of parking with a short checkout line. The neighborhood and store are a little worn, but I came for the deals and they did not disappoint. A grocery haul that would've easily cost me around $350 elsewhere was only $150 here. Love me some great savings!!! Bargain shopping at it's finest! The selection was surprisingly good with familiar brands, upscale products, restaurant brands, organic items, vegan snacks, beauty products, household essentials, frozen foods, drinks, and more. It feels like a mix between Costco and Smart & Final. Some of my favorite finds on this day were teeth whitening kits, self-care products, organic produce, frozen fruits and veggies, vegan snacks, superfoods, sparkling water, and energy drinks. The staff was polite and friendly. Just one tip: don't try to take your cart to the parking lot like I did. It locks up and you'll end up carrying your bags back and forth. Lesson learned. If you do buy a whole fish and don't want to clean and gut it yourself, there is a stall at the very end of the pier that will do it for you for about $1/lb (up to $20/fish). I bought a big slab of bigeye tuna (4lbs), and some smaller (but still large) filets of ono and halibut (maybe 3 lbs each?), and 3 rock crabs (2 female,1 male -- loved that I could choose crab sex). Total cost of the fish was $76, and the crabs were $13. For that amount of fish, I think it's really great. I prepared the tuna as tataki and poke. I checked with the seller than the fish had been frozen on the fishing vessel to kill parasites so it was good to go. INSANELY delicious. If I were hosting a big party, I would absolutely go for a whole fish. The whole halibuts were about 7-14 lbs each (for $13/lb) and the whole tunas were about 20 lbs each (for $3/lb!!!) in Dec 2024.
