I would probably come back to try the matcha or the banana custard. They were sold out of the banana custard. The cake is not good, it's dry and spongey it has a weird texture. The black sesame was amazing and tasted so good. I've heard the matcha is good so I'd probably come back to try that. The line around 8pm was long, maybe 10 to 15 minutes. It's pretty loud and lively inside maybe not the best study location during peak hours. It was very busy.
The matcha was the best I've had in SD so far. There was plenty of parking nearby. There was quite a wait, but the actual matcha came out very quickly. There was a lot of seating and I enjoyed the music they played! Overall seems like a nice place to catch up with friends.

We came towards the end of the day so their dessert case didn't have many options that we wanted, we ended up going to Extraordinary Desserts bc I was on the hunt for a chocolate cake. The one here didn't seem as decadent as I wanted but it did pique my interest for next time! The decor and presentation of the place was very easy and pleasing to the eyes so I would definitely come back!
We stopped at Hinar on our way back to LA because we were looking for a coffee spot, and this one immediately caught our eye. The overall aesthetic was SO cute and everything was really well put together. The line looks super long when you first get there, but I promise it moves really fast! We got the Fruity Pebbles, Biscoff, and Cookies & Cream macarons, along with two Biscoff iced lattes with oat milk, a pistachio matcha with oat milk, and a Biscoff matcha with oat milk. Everything was literally SO good. The flavors were amazing, everything was super flavorful, and the quality of the drinks definitely stood out. The foam on top was also so good, and the drinks themselves were honestly beautiful. I thought the prices were really reasonable for the quality you're getting. My only little complaint is that I personally wish there was a little less ice in the drinks, but I'm sure they have specific measurements they follow to make sure everything tastes consistent, so I completely understand. The customer service was also good and everyone was friendly. My only other suggestion would be having a separate entrance and exit. It can get pretty crowded in one area, and the stairs are a little on the smaller side, so having a better flow for people coming in and leaving would definitely help. Overall, though, we really enjoyed our stop here! Everything we tried was delicious, the drinks were so pretty, the aesthetic was cute, and the prices were great for the quality. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

The lemon poppy cake was fluffy and not overly sweet, and the flower garnish was a cute touch. Their matcha is delicious as well!

There's not much seating in the front, however, the back does offer more seating. The decor is aesthetically pleasing, and is perfect for pictures. Expected of downtown, there's a small amount of metered parking at the front of the store, but otherwise you'll have to find street parking. Heads up for those looking for a study spot, there weren't many outlets for charging. For those that are looking for easier parking options, I recommend that you visit their Scripps Ranch location!
Great vibe and good food and coffee. Got the sesame strawberry cake. The taste was good but the texture was over refrigerated. Got the seasonal banana coffee and it's also very tasty. Highly recommend if you're looking to get a little work done although it is noisy (I work best with noise).
Delicious dessert spot in San Diego, CA. This spot gets busy as it is popular but the line goes fast. There is coffee and dessert, the cheesecakes are delicious! This place is so clean and the decor so is minimal yet fancy. I will definitely be back and definitely recommend trying this place out when in San Diego, CA. Yummy matchas! The earl grey matcha is the best SD has to offer. You will be waiting in a line but it's worth it. They have great flavor and depth and aren't too sweet. I have not tried the cakes yet but they look divine! Great seating area and they also have an outdoor patio on the side.
Visited with my friends after someone told us that this was THE spot for a good matcha! We got there around Sunday afternoon and the line wasn't too long, but the wait did take a bit of time. Even though the line was long, staff was still v patient and kind! My earl grey matcha was totally worth the wait because this was one of the best earl grey matchas I've ever had, and maybe even the best matcha I've had in general! It was creamy and the matcha flavor was perfect. The earl grey flavor also didn't get lost and ugh idk what else to say besides how much I enjoyed this drink. Wish they did free refills LOL. Really beautiful inside! Super good for pics and good amount of seating in the front and in the back of the cafe. Would totally visit again :)
I've had this cafe saved for 2 years and I finally got to go and try it with my boyfriend! We only got drinks because we had just eaten lunch before but we will for sure go back to get one of the little cakes one day! I got a simple vanilla bean latte and my bf got the earl grey matcha. The inside was really pretty and they had outdoor and indoor seating! They even have a more intimate area to study or just be to yourselves with a friend or partner!

Hubby and I were on the hunt for good matcha spot for our mini vacay in the area. We decided to give this place a try. We were worried about the lines but ended up just going for it. We came on a Thursday around noon. Surprisingly, it wasn't busy. I got an earl grey matcha. IT WAS DELICIOUS! Even the seating area was chill + aesthetically pleasing with the plants around. Definitely coming back and hoping to try the desserts next time. read more

They have so many amazing looking pastries, so will need to try that next time. We got the banana latte and banana matcha and both LOVED our drinks. Would definitely get again. Had to stand in line for 5 ish min and then waited for our drinks for another 5 ish min. This was a beautiful place because the aesthetic was so clean and modern and had so much natural light and all the seating was pretty much empty since people were just picking up drinks to go. read more
I have been here many, many times. Metered parking along the street. Staff are friendly and try to move through the line quickly. This is such a cute shop with inside and outside seating. There is a small amount of seating near the windows but more outside around the back. Went on the holiday weekend and it took about 40 minutes to get through the line (started outside on sidewalk) to get my drink and cake slice. My favorite thing here is the lotus biscoff cheesecake $12. Their biscoff matcha is just okay. Note, they charge $7 for their matcha and then charge additional for biscoff, milk preference and foam. The orange blossom latte is good but very sweet. Their drinks run on the sweet side. Be sure to ask for half sweet if needed. I saw so many people ask for their drinks to be remade because it was too sweet and it really impacted the workers. I have tried some other desserts but just wasn't a fan. Will stick to the biscoff cheesecake. read more
I knew I loved Hinar within about thirty seconds of walking in. My friends who live in SD come here all the time and recommended it as a must for the best matcha in town. We ordered their signature matcha with the Biscoff cold foam, and it was easily my favorite matcha in Gaslamp. The Biscoff adds just the right amount of sweetness, but the matcha still shines through. I kept thinking about it long after I left. The space is just lovely. Lots of natural light, greenery, and a clean, minimal design that somehow still feels warm. It's the kind of café that makes you want to stay a little longer than you planned. If I lived nearby, I would absolutely be one of those people studying here all the time. The staff was so kind and welcoming. I also loved that they had cute little treats for dogs. So sweet and thoughtful, it's the little things. I wish I lived closer, it's the perfect post workout matcha spot down the street from the new Equinox. I'll definitely be back here next time I'm in SD! read more

Hinar is such a cute and well thought out dessert bar. I always love looking at the fresh flowers on their desserts. I have historically gone to the Scripps Ranch location since it is closer to my work, but I wanted to try this one out. It was pretty busy in the middle of a work day, but the line went quick. My friend and I tried the pistachio drinks - one matcha latte and one latte. They were both really good! The coffee was super smooth with no bitter after taste. I would definitely return to this location. read more
My favorite spot for matcha in San Diego :D Every time that I go, I am always in love with my drinks as it's very consistent and yummy. I've been getting the vanilla matcha latte with the seasonal biscoff crumble cream (I hope it's more of a permanent menu item, instead of seasonal). It's so delicious! All of my friends have also agreed that they love my drink. When I've gone, I've seen a long line and also a relatively short one. The wait is never too bad, as the line moves pretty fast. I think parking has also been not too bad, as there are plenty of street parking available. The cafe itself is really cute and I love the interior. There's a front section, but if you walk down the hallway, there's a back where there's more seating and an outdoor patio. Service has been good as well :) I will definitely be back! read more

Visited for a San Diego day trip with friends and did not disappoint. With a large variety of desserts and drinks to choose from, Hinar was a great café to visit. Although there was quite a long line with parking, that was not the easiest to find, my friends and I were all very satisfied with the service and the drinks. There is not too much room to sit in the main entrance area, however there is a backside lobby along with outdoor seating that was readily available for our needs. The only large negative that I would note to anyone looking to visit would be the difficulty in finding parking in the area. But besides that everything was great read more
Such a cute dessert cafe. Extremely busy but the line definitely moved quickly. To the ones making the drinks I applaud you for doing your job so well. It's cool that you get to see exactly how they make each cup right in front of you. Desserts are beautifully presented. Makes you want to try everything. We decided to give the Biscoff and Raspberry Cheesecake a try. I love that it's not too sweet but the crust I wished the crust tasted more like graham crackers. I shared it with my siblings and they all agreed that the Biscoff tasted better. The Banana Matcha is new and we really enjoyed it. Banana cream is not too overpowering. For me personally, I would have requested for less sweet but my daughter thinks it's perfect. She finished her drink before we even got home. For those of you who have little fur babies, they offer small doggy bone treats. read more

I totally get the hype now LOL earl grey iced matcha (9.5/10): a tad bit sweeter than I would've liked but it had a well balanced matcha & earl grey flavor, and the latter wasn't too overpowering. Also had a sip of the pistachio strawberry matcha which was soooo good. This would be such a nice place to study at!! Loved the lighting & they have plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, but it gets crowded pretty quickly (line was out the door). I'd def come back again!! read more

The Earl Grey Matcha is tea on tea drink that is a must order! Good quality matcha that isn't too sweet with an earl grey crème that has a slight butterscotch taste to it. It is amazing! The raspberry cheesecake is also very good. Seating is both indoor and outdoor, and it is a nice place to chat, grab a sweet treat, or work/study. I will definitely return for the Earl Grey Matcha. It's easily the best tea crème drink I've ever had. read more

Found this spot through my sister visiting San Diego from Texas. I did not know this place existed before but now I am. They are Kurdish owners which is a huge plus for me since my fiancé is Kurdish. The place is so uniquely designed and they really looked at each piece or finishing touch for their beautiful cafe. I really loved the drinks. It seems that the iced drinks were popular the morning I went since really hot out but I went with the Hot Brown Sugar latte. Theres plenty of parking. Definitely check this place out if youre in scripps ranch! read more
the matcha is amazing and the cafe ambiance is also very nice. however, the bathroom was absolutely filthy. There was no toilet paper, floor was wet, and obvious feces on the toilet. It was not being maintained at all. That experience completely took away the good. read more

Don't go here if you want a gluten free pastry! But those matcha lattes are gluten free. The earl gray is so pretty with those earl gray flowers and smells so good. The service is okay. Not very friendly. But the spot is super cute! read more

It's an about time I post my true feelings about Hinar... and it's nothing but AWE. I consider myself a true matcha connoisseur, and can be pretty picky - I consider this one of if not the best matchas I've ever had. Considering all matchas in this area are so pricy, if you're spending money you want it to be worth it- and trust me this one is. I encourage you to try the earl grey with earl grey cold foam - the only downside is it is seriously addicting. I will say the ham and cheese croissant is pretty good, but a tad overpriced, but as is most things in SD. Service is always great and fast, and this is also a great comfortable study spot. As for desert, I think the photo speaks for itself. Amazing. Truly cant recommend enough :) read more

Such a beautifully and thoughtfully designed space! My husband and I checked out the Gaslamp East Village location for Hinar shortly after it opened and there was already a small line forming. When we returned to our car a couple hours later, the line had extended far down the block. I certainly can see why because this spot has it all, from gorgeous desserts and specialty cafe drinks, to a warm, earthy ambiance. The Biscoff Basque cheesecake was both decadent and delicious, with an indulgent layer of cookie butter on top and, of course, a Biscoff cookie crust. I also couldn't resist taking home the white chocolate raspberry mousse cake, which was every bit as delightful as it was visually striking, topped with a giant flower that made it almost too pretty to eat. I also enjoyed my orange blossom latte, a unique flavor combination I haven't seen very often. The outdoor patio also deserves its own kudos, featuring a living vertical garden wall dotted with bistro sets, which made it perfect for enjoying coffee and dessert while soaking in the stylish, relaxed atmosphere. read more
The aesthetics of the place is so earthy and zen, I can see myself appreciating this cafe if I lived in East Village. The crowd will come and go, so there's some moments of reprieve if you're considering this spot for reading/working. My "low" rating is because I feel quite mixed about the quality of the consumables. I really enjoyed my orange blossom latte. They accommodated a decaf shot for me, given how late it was in the day. I got a sesame raspberry cake to go, planning for it to be a nice dessert treat for dinner. The mini cake tastes like sesame, and the thin spread of raspberry was nice to break th creaminess. So while it tastes really nice, I was let down by the uneven raspberry taste and since it wasn't enough, the cake turned out to be too sweet when I got to the second half. Maybe this is a quality control issue, but I'm not sure I'll get another $12 mini cake from them any time soon. read more

Some of the best matcha I've had!!! Very simple, clean and cute vibes inside! Selection of pastries is elite. The banana pudding was phenomenal. The matcha is a bit on the sweeter side so modify as needed. Fast service and baristas are very kind and quick! read more
People say this is the best matcha in SD. If so then yikes. The matcha is very bitter even with the added vanilla syrup. I'm not even a fan of super sweet matcha but this one had a gassy aftertaste. The creme brûlée macaron was amazing. Everything was not worth the 30 minute wait on a Saturday. You also have to pay for parking. read more
Located in the remnants of a historical house near Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego, this is a really popular coffee spot with cakes adorned with flowers, delicious desserts, and lattes brewed with "provecho coffee". Decor is nice inside. Influencers feature the outdoor seating next to a wall nicely decorated with various succulents. We like coming when we are staying in the area, but I'm not always a fan of the street parking locally and they can have substantial lines on weekends. read more

I stopped by on a weekday around 10:30am and, surprisingly, found parking right in front, even though it's in busy downtown. The café has such a cool, relaxed vibe and feels really spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating both inside and outside. The pastries look beautiful and are beautifully displayed! I ended up getting the mixed berry custard dessert, which was really delicious and not overly sweet. I also ordered an almond croissant, it was impossible to choose just one! If you haven't been here yet, definitely stop by. I recommend going early for the best selection of pastries! read more

First of all, the cafe was super unsanitary -- there were multiple flies inside of the store that were sitting on the pre made matcha concentrate container and even on the desserts that were about to be served. We waited in a long line so still decided to get the drinks and a dessert but we made sure to ask for our cheesecake to-go since they put the dessert in to a to-go box right from the fridge so the flies don't sit on it unlike the ones that were served on a plate. Also both of the drinks were not good at all, the matcha was so diluted and milky with no early grey taste (we got the earl grey matcha) and the vanilla latte also tasted watered down and had a weird sharp after taste. The biscoff cheesecake tasted like a store bought cheesecake. read more

Limited seating. I cannot recall outlets but for sure not every seat would have an outlet.

What cake flavors do they sell as whole cakes and what is the cost? What is the turnaround time from order to pick up?
I think they do similar to the mini cakes! You can dm them on Instagram to place an order or call them! But should be fairly fast!:)
