It saddens me to say this, but was disappointed with my haircut I got the other day. As you can see from the attached photo, parts of my hair look like they were just chopped up, and the overall cut is a complete disaster.   I asked for a simple blunt cut with curtain bangs -- nothing complicated -- but the entire experience felt rushed, like they were just trying to get me out the door.   From the start, my hair was in my face for most of the cut, so I couldn't actually see what was happening. The stylist never checked in with me at any point to ask if I liked the length or to confirm any details. I have a side part, but she cut my hair with a middle part the entire time. Typically, towards the end of a cut, the stylist will ask where I part my hair to make sure everything is even -- but she never bothered to check.   When I got home, I immediately noticed how uneven the cut was -- and the next day at work, my coworkers even pointed out that my hair is two completely different lengths, with the left side noticeably longer. Unfortunately, you just can't trust this studio with your hair, even for something as basic as a blunt cut. read more

The stylist was very rough with my daughter unnecessarily. When combing through long hair everyone knows you comb near the ends first and separate into thinner strands, using leave in conditioner. She did none of those things. The resulting hair cut was also really bad - bangs only: we requested that the bangs be eyebrow length- when dry- showing a picture- to which she proceeded to cut the bangs at brow length while wet- so of course they were too short. To top it off, there were all these pieces of bangs that were all different lengths so we had to go to a different place to fix it. I guess I should say it was cheap so maybe that's why read more

Update: Quick action taken on their end after I posted, turns out the full highlights voucher IS up to date (receptionist was just mistaken) so I've repurchased and booked for next week. For anyone wondering the receptionist says it's starting at $35 for the toner charge (this was mentioned in the fine print section so no issue with that). FYI for anyone buying a voucher on pulsd -- they do not honor full highlights vouchers. I bought one for $99 and just called to make my appointment but was told that they didn't offer full highlights vouchers, only partial for $99 and full would be an extra $50-75. I asked for a refund for the voucher since I wasn't going to use it at this point and the person on the phone told me I had to wait until Wednesday to talk to the manager in order to get one. I ended up emailing pulsd support and got a refund from pulsd. I get that websites get outdated and I'm glad they stopped me at the appointment stage so I didn't have to walk in and be turned away which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. read more

Had a really good experience at this place today! I was way overdue for a haircut. It was easy to make an appointment yesterday for today with Rafaela. The salon is clean and has a good atmosphere. They asked if I wanted anything to drink which was a nice touch. Friendly employees. Solid wash and conditioning- thorough and relaxing. One of my favorite parts of a haircut. Rafaela is sweet and seems passionate and knowledgeable about what she does. I did a Yelp check in for 10% off as I'm a new client and I did get a discount but I don't think it was the full 10%. However, I didn't got her questioning because it would only have been a few extra dollars and I was happy with the service. The prices is pretty standard, $88 for a cut and blowdry, $85 with the discount. It's close to my apartment so I will probably go back next time I need a cut. read more

I feel bad for writing this review because they did take care of pretty well but I wasn't extremely happy with my results. I came here with a Groupon for half-head highlights. I already had balyage highlights and Osher convinced me to get full-head highlights for about an extra $130 (including toner). I chose a violet-purple shade, which came out to appear as a pink (very nice, but not my style) finish. Osher was nice to talk to, but I didn't have a flawless salon experience like many of the other reviews. I didn't feel as if my hair was gently cared for--the bleaching process was a bit rough and it felt like my hair was being tugged for most of the time. I was also left hanging at the shampoo station during the toner process for a long time--way, way after the 10 minutes I was told. I was probably one out of the only two clients at the salon and he was going back and forth between us. Vera ended up giving me the blowout because Osher was too busy with another client. She did a very nice job but I was disappointed with how Osher didn't really check to see if I was happy with the shade because the color really was too bright for me and didn't really turn into a darker shade until about a week after. Plus, the highlights faded quick--like, super quick. In just 2 months, my highlights quickly faded into an amber color. They faded so much faster than my first set of highlights (that I got them highlighted over here) that were still visible even about 6 months later, and now I'm just trying to grow my hair out so I can have a full head of my natural hair color, without cutting the highlighted areas, as much as I am tempted to. read more

Went here with a groupon, and a good friends' recommendation for 1/2 a head of highlights and a blowout. I had a 6:45appt, was asked to come at 6:30, and then wasn't seated until 7:05. I was squeezed in, and shouldn't have been. I could tell that Vera was being rushed and lazy with the underneath hair, and I was very worried in the chair. I requested "babylights" but I have stripes under the top layer of hair (which was done well). From afar it looks decent, but when I just got home to check my hair, it looks awful and stripey in so many areas. They also charged me $34 extra for the toner. I would have been fine paying this, and I was, until I saw the poor job. Now I have to figure out how to fix this. My roots look good, so she's clearly capable of doing good work; so I'm not sure what happened. The friendly staff and champagne may have been the best part of my experience. UPDATE: the staff reached out to me the morning after my appt and asked if I could come in to have my hair fixed; I went yesterday and am very happy with the results. Vera added more highlights to break up the chunkiness and brushed color through my wispy front pieces to brighten them up. She also toned my hair again at no cost. Great customer service. I visited VB Studio after finding an amazing deal online for a hair cut. They delivered! Osher was my stylist and he was great. I've been growing my hair out forever but the ends were totally fried. He cut them off while still keeping a good amount of length overall. I have really fine hair, but it looks much fuller. I got talked into trying an Olaplex treatment ($35) and honestly, it made a huge difference in the softness of my hair, and I would do it again. I live in the area and would pass VB Studio all the time. After seeing all the positive reviews I decided to try it out. I booked with the owner, Vera, for a haircut and blow dry. She gave me a super cute bob and amazing blow out. She is also lovely - like sooooo sweet. I just went back for the second time to get my color done with Osher. He's great also and gave me exactly what I wanted. Her and her staff are so friendly, make you feel like a regular even at your first visit. They even let me bring my little dog to my appointments. I was happy to hear the owner, Vera, a master hairdresser will be working on my hair. The space is clean and pretty, staff was warm and friendly and my stylist Gina was very professional and experienced. To add to the current rave reviews, I wanted to share my wonderful experience with OSHER! All in all I give him 5 stars and I give the salon 4 stars. In terms of hair cut, color and style he was very innovative while also listening to what I wanted. I went from a somewhat grown out blonde balayage to a full head of baby lights. I did buy the Pulsd for full head of highlights and blowout + cut and blowout and combined the two and had to pay for Olaplex and Toner on top of it, but all in all came out to what I usually spend at a salon (or a little less especially for nyc). Hopefully for future appointments toner is included within the color rate. For cut I wanted to chop a few inches off to a more blunt lob style and he started on the edge of caution then blew dry my hair and discussed with me that we should cut more (dry). The final result was amazing! The only slight issue I had with the salon was that the heat wasn't working and it was freeeezing the 3-4 hours I was there (usually my color takes about 2-3 hours) and I wish I was offered champagne like many other reviewers mentioned (and a friend who had gone to the salon confirmed she received and was a nice touch). Definitely plan to return as long as OSHER is there and keeps up the amazing work! read more
