He is communicative, caring, and has a great bedside manner. It is clear he truly cares about his patients and their owners. He gave my dog his wellness checkup last year. On the other hand and unfortunately, unfortunately, there are absolutely NO good things I can say about Dr. Schoenhut. She didn't return calls on two occasions despite our reaching out multiple times and being told things like, "oh she'll call in in 30 mins;" "oh, she was supposed to return your call after lunch;"; "I'll remind her again in just a minute;" "She's currently in with another pet but she'll reach out before she leaves (which she didn't). It took three more calls the next day (with similar excuses) before she called after the practice had closed for the day. I had brought my dog in for a number of reasons because he had a lot of muscle and overall weight loss in a very short period of time, could no longer jump up onto even the couch, his face had become gaunt, and his face and body (particularly the former) had been turning gray very quickly. Based on his condition, I was pretty sure that he had cancer. I've attached two pictures. The first is what he looked like during his wellness exam with Dr. Nolan about 8-ish months before I came back. The second is what he looked like the month after the exam by Dr. Schoenhut. He wasn't quite as wasted away at the time she examined him, but it wasn't much better. After Dr. Schoenhut examined him, she ordered a number of tests. When the results came in, she started breezing through things without defining the medical terms. I had to stop her, asked her to break it all down, and what it all meant. I asked her to explain the results and just to be straight with me if it looked like it was cancer--particularly because of the way he looked. She was kind of vague, talking about how certain markers *might* indicate the presence of cancer, and then recommended other tests that could be performed--including something like bone-marrow extraction--that would have cost over (if I'm remembering correctly) about $3,000 to $3,500 if we wanted to be 100% certain. I later learned that one of the markers on my dog's original test was in the 9,000 range but normal was in the 300 range, and that plus another elevated marker, together with his physical condition as shown in the picture below were sufficient to diagnose the presence of cancer without the need for the other really expensive tests In both visits Dr. Schoenhut--unlike Dr. Nolan--made me feel like she was just rushing through the appointment to get onto the next appointment. Literally the worst vet experience I've ever had in the 21+ years I've been a dog owner. But for the fact that Dr. Nolan and the staff are so great, I'd have rated the business no higher than 2 stars. If you do choose this practice, make sure you ask for and get Dr. Nolan.

As our dog got older, he began having issues with his hind leg and arthritis. We tried different medications, but many of them only seemed to make him tired or drugged rather than truly helping him feel better. That alone is not the reason I am writing this review. Over time, I felt the care became less personal. More and more communication seemed to happen through websites, portals, and online systems, with less direct communication from the doctors. I understand that technology is part of the world now, but when it comes to a beloved pet, especially an older dog, personal communication matters. When I became dissatisfied and felt my dog needed more comfort and attention, I went to another veterinary group. The difference was immediate. The doctor personally called me, helped find a better medication plan, and made sure we received what our dog needed. The biggest reason I am writing this review is because after seeing multiple doctors at Rippowam over nine years, no one ever noticed that my dog was blind in one eye. The new veterinarian noticed it right away and immediately referred us to an ophthalmology specialist in Wilton. I was shocked and heartbroken. How could several doctors over nine years not recognize something so important? I trusted this practice with my dog's care, and finding this out after all these years was extremely upsetting. The staff may be nice, but in my experience, the service became less personal, the communication was not what I needed, and the parking was difficult. Most importantly, I felt they missed the heart of what pet owners need, which is careful attention, compassion, and real communication about our fur babies. In a world full of websites, Wi-Fi, and online portals, I still believe people want personal service, especially when it comes to their pets. After nine years, learning that my dog's blindness was missed left me very disappointed. For that reason, I can no longer say I was satisfied with the level of care we received.

When she relocated to Stamford she took Wally and when she shopped for a new vet she chose Rippomam. Wally aged and showed signs of decline. At one time I was in Stamford while my daughter was traveling and I needed to pick up more meds for Wally. I used just cats as a vet for 5 or 6 years with no issues. So I was quite comfortable in leaving my cats there to board last year when I went on a trip for 2 1/2 weeks. Well, when I went to pick them up, there was some confusion where their online hours didn't agree with their physical hours. so when I showed up, they tried to deny me access to my Cats. I finally got my cats out of there thankfully , yet when I went to the Boarding area, it was extremely cold and the cats were in a very sterile little cage with just one little rag on the floor. Turns out both my cats were sick. Sickened there at this vets boarding facility . They had to go to another vet to receive proper care. thankfully they both recovered and are fine . I boarded my cat here a few months ago and while boarding, my cat contracted a respiratory infection. When I took her in, I had to see a different doctor than usual, because Dr. Mary was booked up for over two weeks. Additionally, I was charged for this visit regardless of my cat contracting her infection while boarding. I am unable to clip my cat's nails by myself, and when I took her in last week, the price went up yet again to $27! This seems like a lot to pay for a simple and quick service that a vet tech can perform. I love Dr. Mary, but when she retires, I will be seeking out another veterinary practice.

Unfortunately, my dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur which I was unaware of, so they did not feel comfortable giving her the sedation she needed to take proper X-rays of a possible hip or lower back injury, which was a bit concerning. We did have a long wait, but to be fair, it was a rough night there and there were pets there with more significant injuries, so I appreciated their prioritizing them. They were able to administer pain meds though, which helped my dog feel much more comfortable overnight until I get her in to see her regular vet the following day. The bill was a bit high for just a preliminary evaluation, a basic cbc, and one shot of pain killer but it was worth having some peace of mind that my dog was seen and in far less discomfort overnight. I would definitely go back if I needed to, as the care she received was prudent and they were honest with me about their concerns about the risk of sedation for my particular dog.
