I took my dog in here a few days ago because she had stopped eating & wasn't drinking. The vet tech was absolutely amazing. The doctor was so amazing. I recommend them for your beloved fur babies. They are so neutering, thorough, & quick!! Next time I am in town I am definitely taking my fur baby back to them! I took my cat in for a uti the appointment was very amazing they got me in, within a day tops. The doctors where so nice and caring. My cat started straining to pee again so I called to see if I could just get his meds refilled as I can't afford a new appointment . Was told there was no record of him being there. The lady sounded like a bimbo and was like "yea I don't see any record of him being here" but yet knew my cats name. How can you know my cats name but yet not find any record of him being there. I called back in the next 10 mins. And oh wow found my cats records and I was able to get his meds filled. This isn't even my primary vet. I only went here bc my vet was booked for a week and my cat needed to be seen asap. The doctors are very nice and did a wonderful job caring for my kitty. It's the secretaries that are rude and just seem like they can't do there jobs. read more

I took our cat in to get antibiotics for an ear infection in its early stages. They full and well knew it could have been inner ear and told me the wash they gave me would not help if it was an inner ear problem. Then they tried to get me to pay for blood work incase it was this other disease they wanted to test for, when I refused the unnecessary $150 blood work, they tried to just give sell me the medicine for this other thing that they weren't even sure it was. Guess what? It was an inner ear infection, that their tiddly wash did nothing for, 2 days later and a very unhappy kitty, shaking puss everywhere, I call them again seeing that their solution isn't working, and they essentially say not our problem, take him to the ER. We drove to another vet half an hour away, and they gave him the internal antibiotics that would have saved us the whole hassle in the first place. They could not have cared less about my cat, never again. I know antibiotics have to be doled out sparingly, but to actively make things harder for the pets when they themselves acknowledged that's what he probably needed. read more

So long story short Ive had one of my dogs spayed at Gaide and all went well so I had an appt to do so for our other dog this morning at 7. I show up at 7 and attempt calling the number on the signs in front of parking spots with no answer while I watch employees walk in to the establishment. I had my son with me to drop him off at school afterwards so time was of the essence being I don't live in Jackson. I ended up walking to the door and was told with tone and an obvious attitude that I could've left a message and that I didn't have an appoint I had a "drop off" planned. Are you kidding me!?! What a silly person! Thankfully the lady that came out to grab my dog was much nicer and apologized. Long story short we will not be coming back. I recommend going elsewhere unfortunately. read more

NEEDS NEW RECEPTION-Called to see if I could bring in either one or two of my cats for ear mites for the day and the reception automatically said no I don't have any appointments and I said ok then she immediately said. Ok bye and the phone call ended. I would have made an appointment for another day but instead she ended the phone call quickly without even offering her soonest appointment. I worked at a 9 doctor animal Practise and we were extremely busy Practise but I never ever hung up on a client without offering any other availability's we had for another day. read more

I have always gone to gaide! Mainly because I have a cute dog and the high traffic of people always boosts my self esteem when they tell me how cute he is. Anyway, typically, the vet is a male. He comes to my work and buys things all the time, very nice, personable, caring man. BUT THE LAST TWO TWO TIMES I'VE GONE, THIS HORRIBLE WENCH OF A LADY IS THE VET. I love the ladies, they rule. But this one is amoney hungry turd of a person. Heres one particular experience: I took my dog here because he was straining to poop. I just wanted stool softener and his anal glands expressed. This lady comes in, like she has done in the past and starts spilling bullshit "your dog could have a urinary traxt infection" "he could have swallowed part of a toy and it could be lodged in his intestines" then goes about suggesting xrays, stool samples, and something else for the Urinary Tract Infection my dog "COULD MOST LIKELY HAVE" she just kept talking, trying to frighten me into these tests and xrays. It was very annoying. I have never until recently seen a vet that cares more about useless tests and xrays than they did the precious puppy that would have to endure all of that. Shameful. If you love your pets, take them here, but ask for the male vet. He is older and just the sweetest guy. If you end up with this horrid money hungry lady, well you've been warned. The last thing I want to do is make them lose business bc they have helped me so much. Just educate yourself before a lady like this scares you into unnecessary tests for your furry friend! I've gone to Gaides for years, mostly because of convenience, but recently I have realized how amazing their staff is. They have gone above and beyond to help my little guy. I was scared that he wouldn't get the treatment he needed because of lack of funds but after talking to them about everything- they understand and 100% work with me. I really am grateful for them & everything they have done for my little guy. read more

I have been going to Gaide's for a year now. They don't make appointments, its walk-in and you're taken in order. Saturday's can be a wait, but during the week before 5pm, they go at a pretty good clip. They have treated my dogs and cats and cried with me while I had to do the worst thing a pet owner can do, put an animal down. I find their prices to be in line with everyone else in town. Most of the office staff is efficient, but sometimes the younger office assistants are a bit slow in helping. We have 3 dogs & a new kitten, and have gone through some illnesses. I'm in there at least once a month, sometimes twice and have met all the vets. They are all efficient and caring. I have never had services pushed on me that I felt were unwarranted. I highly recommend them for every pet owner! read more

Took my Dog Jasper in to have a couple thing done on Friday at 10:00 am. Called the next day to check up on him and get some information on how much the bill is going to be. Was told an amount over the phone but when my wife went to pick him up the bill was over $100 more than i was told just a few hours earlier on the phone. My wife said they forgot to add it all up. well usually when I ask what the bill is I would like to know what the total bill is not just a guess on what it is. Luckly my wife took some extra cash with her or we probably wouldnt have gotten our dog back till Monday. read more

This is a scary place to take your loved animal. They're very expensive and only truly care about their payment. They almost killed my animals by ignoring what I kept trying to tell them. I went to a different vet, and my dogs had severe pneumonia, not allergies as told by vca. They wouldn't listen and wouldn't give me an antibiotic or a decongestant in any way. They said it was allergies and told me to give benedryl. It didn't work...thankfully I listen to my heart and got much needed medical attention for my dog before she died. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! For the safety of your fur babies...go to a more caring establishment than this one. read more

My kittie Cleo has mega colon and I have always taken him to Michigan State to the "specialists", after $1400 there they sent him home with no relief and couldn't get him back in for a month. I was extremely concerned and started calling to find anyone willing to help him. The man that answered the phone was so professional and kind, assured me his Dr could help him and to bring him right in. They had him 2 hours, charged me a fraction of what I had wasted on Michigan State and gave Cleo the upmost kind and compassionate care. I have transferred both of my pets to them and will not hesitate to seek their care in the future and neither should anyone reading this. Top Notch, Professional, and Caring. The last time I was at the vet, this practice was still Gaide. When Dr. Dale owned the practice they were very friendly, helpful and wonderful with my pets. I recently got an 8 yo cat from the shelter and called to see if they still did walk ins or if I had to make an appointment. I also had a question about flea and tick medication for her since the shelter had been giving her front line. The man who answered the phone said they don't sell that and named off another one I hadn't heard. I asked him what was the difference. He said he didn't know because they don't sell front line. He was quite rude and talked to me like I was taking up his valuable time. Ok, thought it might be just him and he was having a bad day. But I did want to bring her in and have her nails clipped so I called a few days later to make an appointment. Wow...I couldn't understand what he said so I asked him to repeat it, which he did and again it was unintelligible. The he huffed and said 'vet clinic!' in a raised voice. I told him I knew that but it didn't sound like he said Gaide and I was trying to verify who it was. That was when he told me they were no longer Gaide. Now I understand. If they are that rude on the phone, I'm not surprised at the negative comments from others. read more

I ordered flea meds for my cat yesterday. They told me I would need to give them the consideration of 24hours to fill the order. Today I called back to see if I could pick up the order and they said I would have to bring my car in for an exam in order to get the meds. They had previously diagnosed and prescribed the meds. Typical for profit medicine. All the guarantees for them. None for you. read more

After using Dr. Gaide for almost 20 years I am disgusted at how the practice went downhill after the practice was sold. I called to schedule my dog for her 3 year rabies vaccine, and was placed on hold for over 10 minutes. After calling back and explaining that I could hold but not for extended periods the lady got rude and stated "We are going as fast as we can, there is nothing we can do about the hold times." She had a big attitude and the impression I got was my time didn't matter as long as they could cram in as many pets as they could in the shortest amount of time. You can tell this is a place where the animals and owners are not a priority, and my pets will never go to this new practice that does not have the same care and compassion that Dr. Gaide had. The $ is the only thing that this practice cares about, crappy customer service and rude employees. read more

I am highly upset my visit. I went in for a walk in due to my dog getting very sick, losing weight very drastically, and other reasons. We had to get 2 xrays done, was told to come back the next morning when they opened, we did so and they took our dog and said we will call you when you can get him. We asked multiple times for an estimated time, in which I get if you're busy it will be a longer wait, but they were very rude and kept saying "I don't know we will call you when we're done". Not pleased at all considering I was told to come in early and paid for it in advance. And to top it all off, the xrays were "okay" so asked if we wanted blood work, we said yes. After they got the results they walked my dog out to us in the lobby and tells us to have a nice day blood work is fine. Did not go over anything with us nor give us any answers to what was wrong, meanwhile my dog is still having the same complications if not worse. Do not waste your money here. They are not the office that take your pet into consideration. They want their money and will do best to get it. I am very disappointed with the service we got and will NEVER be back! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! I Have been here 25 years (or more) ago for a duration of approximately 15 plus years with my family of pets, and had the very best care from Dr Dale, His Wife And (The new then) Dr. Ulee Klotz.. BUT we tried again with our newest pet family and will not go back after giving them numerous chances.. we had an urgent appointment with the one very experienced good dr there (Dr.Ulee) and they called and left a message. She would be off for a month and NOT returning... So i needed to reschedule my appointment!!! Really?? Found an excellent vet and switched all our services to them! I am Sorry Dale, but this place is not well run, once it has been Commercialized into this brand chain! You only work by appointment and i even came in for a sick urgent situation, to patiently wait over 2 hours. I understand the Wait, but after a$200 plus bill for all the labs and Workup.. NOBODY even called to give us the bad results!! We needed to get medications and a plan of action for the situation. I got my results when i called as my pet was still sick, and i wondered why.. THAT IS JUST WRONG! We have spent Thousands here. Not just a one time visit and review! read more

I have gone to Dr Gaide, and his veterinary hospital for over 30 years. I have had numerous cats and three dogs. Throughout this time, my animals have had very unusual diseases. I have had great care and extremely compassionate service. There is always a negative situation with any service or business, but the positives definitely out weigh the negatives here. I appreciate the staff and the doctors. I have watched some of them go from clerks at the beginning to now veterinarians themselves. I will continue to go to this doctor for my fur babies until they are no longer there. read more

I am so sad since VCA took over. I was a client with Dr. Gaide since the early 90's and he was the only Dr. I would take my dogs to but now VCA is all about the money. I was quoted over $600 To give my litter of 6 puppies their second series of vaccinations. I will never take any pet to them. read more

I can not believe how horrible the doctor, office manager and medical assistant level of service has crumbled since Dr Gaide had sold his practice and is no longer a doctor here! It's so sad!! I was treated horribly here with increased pricing, lack of clarity, lack of gentleness with dog care and the office manager snapped at me meanly and she walked away without answering my question just because I asked for clarity on a misc bill charge that had not been confirmed with me prior to the charges being administered. She even told me to "go" to another veterinarian if had problems with their pricing! I've been coming here for years when Dr Gaide was the owner and never had problems with pricing or such a horrible exchange with medical staff. The ladies at the front desk are still very pleasant but the back office medical staff was "horrible." No accountability for behavior and seem not to enjoy customer service. Unfortunately, this is such a sad day in Jackson for such a legacy and historical presence to have gone down so bad and it's also a sad day for all of our furry family members. Dr. Gaide and his staff have taken care of my large dogs since they were puppies. We were using a different local vet initially but went to Dr. Gaide for a second opinion when we were sure our puppies had parvo. Sure enough Dr. Gaide confirmed our suspicion! He immediately hospitalized our puppies (the other vet had only said give them pedialyte, rice and chicken after our 9 pound coonhound puppy lost 2 pounds from diarrhea and vomiting!). Dr. Gaide treated the parvo aggressively and saved my dogs lives. Since then, he has also neutered, vaccinated and saved their lives a second time after they ate a bunch of albuterol vials. We are so thankful for their care and support of Hank and Daisy. :) read more

What a great group of people. Our Lab suddenly developed a large lump on her leg. I called Gaide and they were able to see her that day, on a Saturday! Unfortunately it turned out to be cancer and the vet explained that she had at the most 8 months and that she was in fact in pain. We decided to take her home for a few days . The woman veterinarian gave us some pain meds and anti inflammatories for a few days. When we brought her in that day to be put to rest it was one of the worst days of my life. The vet and her assistants were so caring and understanding. I felt their sadness as well. I would recommended Gaide for anyone's beloved pets! They will be in loving, caring hands. read more

Very in helpful place. came there for my animals shots and such and turn around and 24hr later they got sick because this place does not keep things cleaned. Also when I brought in a cat I found they thought she may have a tumor and even got x rays done and still said it was a tumor, yet I took this kitty to a country vet and they did no x rays or anything but feel her belly and found out she had a mummified kitten still inside of her. Big difference there! In the end it cost be $200.00 for her procedure and not over $900 Gaide said it would cost me. They love to run extra test and keep animals overnight just so they can charge you more also. Dr gaide is a very nice man and seems good with the animals and some of the woman staff are great but I cant go if my animal's keep getting sick there and fees to costly. read more

I just can't say enough good things about the veterinary staff here! I have been taking all of my animals here for the past 20 years, and can't think of a single negative thing to say about this office. Even after I moved to the Ann Arbor area, I still continue to come back to Jackson to bring my pets in whenever they need to be seen despite trying out 3 different veterinary offices that were closer to home. One of my dogs is very anxious whenever he goes to the vet, and all of the veterinarians here take time to familiarize themselves with him to make him feel more comfortable. Dr. Gaide is also super friendly, and really easy to talk to, whether it be regarding veterinary care or something as simple as a recent traveling trip you have been on. All of their prices for services are also very reasonable, and I've never felt like the veterinarians or the staff were trying to push unnecessary tests or procedures on my pets and an effort to increase my bill. Overall I highly recommend this veterinary office, it's definitely worth the trip. read more

Sadly, I have realized that Gaide's only cares about money & could careIess about a pet's well-being. Like many people, my pets are like family to me. I have been a customer of Gaide's for over 5 years. I have always paid in full at time of service. I have a rat &he is considered an "exotic pet". Pet rats have a life expectancy of 2-3.5 years & he is almost 5. He has taken a turn for the worse and he can't move his back legs anymore &is in pain. I wont be paid for another week. I called Gaide's &asked if I could be billed later, if I can work out a payment plan, if there is anything we can work out so my baby doesn't have to suffer anymore...nope...$75. & because he is considered an exotic pet-other vets won't do it. I just assumed since i have been a loyal, paying customer for years (brought in both my babies 3wks prior-$90 bill, paid immediately) they would show a slight bit of compassion, but sadly I was mistaken. Now that there is no vested interest in this office by a proper Dr. I will not be coming back and 1 star is to good!. Hence the snooty little brunette at the front desk needs to find a new job if she is that unhappy and dealing with the customers accordingly. Brought my dog in for her annual, needed heart worm medicine that the office did not carry, was told to order it through PetMeds by the vet technician only to find out the office will not send the prescription to PetMeds any more because "the new company does not do that" Then why was I told to do it?!?! When I called back to find out what to do the lady on the phone told me I could fax it in to PetMeds - PetMeds does not allow a Rx faxed in from anyone other than a Dr.. The other option I was told to do was, they would send the Rx to another vet and they could fax it in. ILLEGAL!. So I went in to pick up the Rx, waited 45 minutes for it, only be prescribed for 3 months. WHY!!!!! After the blood test it's good for a year and I expect a years prescription! Needless to say I have already switched to another vet and gotten the years supply that I need. And with me leaving I persuaded by parents and my nephews to move their business else where also.
