They did a horrible job with the euthanasia of my 17 yo kitty. I had my cat Lily for literally 17 years. They took her to put catheter for sedation and didn't return for an hour. I had to go out looking for her only to find out there was an issue with her??? When they finally brought her back, she was completely 100% sedated. I was not able to say goodbye to her, and also knew that she was in distress during her last moments on this earth. Sandy Sisco the manager lied about the entire situation. Please be aware of VCA. Let me start by saying I love the drs and techs. They're above standards of anything and anywhere. The business side of this place is lacking. The front desk clerk is far from friendly and even though she acts like she knows all.. is often out of the loop. The charges were higher than the estimate and the reasoning was that they didn't have the product originally quoted... and they also tried to slip in an extra test that was not discussed. We worked with them to get my dog ready for a trip to Hawaii.. and i know the rabies and titer tests would be costly.. I did not expect to be railroaded on our last visit to get her certificate. I was charged a thousand dollars for a flea and tick treatment and a piece of paper. If you can go anywhere else and have your pets taken care of.. do it. Save yourself the money. read more

I took my daughter to VCA Animal Hospital with her two newly adopted kittens. We decided to visit this veterinary clinic instead of our regular veterinarian because the VCA clinic is conveniently located near our home (our regular vet is over 30 minutes away, without traffic). As a bonus, VCA offered a free first exam for new patients. We were quoted about $457 for additional tests and supplements. We opted to do the fecal testing (we brought in specimens already collected) and feline leukemia tests only. We were told that the leukemia test would take about 10 minutes, and we would have the results of the fecal testing in the morning. They took the kittens, and we were told to wait in the reception area. My daughter left with her two young children while I waited, and waited, and waited. After 30 minutes, I asked about the wait and was told it would be at least another 30 minutes. I mentioned I was told it was a ten-minute test and asked why it was taking so long. The receptionist said he would check for me. When he came back, he said techs were taking their blood now, and it should not be long. 30 minutes later, they brought the kittens to me, stating they had just taken their blood and would text the results later that afternoon. I left in complete frustration that I had to wait an hour for a 10-minute test, and they had not given me the probiotic medication or the flea treatments I paid for. To make matters worse, we called the next morning to get the results of the fecal test and were told they were in, but the doctor needed to review them first. A few hours later, we called again only to be told the results were still being processed. Hours later, in the late afternoon, we were told the lab equipment was not working and the results would not be available for 3 more days. We will continue to drive over 30 minutes each way to our real vet (not a commercial franchise with only the intention of making money off your pets over real, reasonable, and affordable health care) read more

Came for a free exam because my dog has a uti and they were trying to FORCE us into paying for cancer testing, urinary testing, all sorts of stuff instead of simply prescribing the antibiotics first to see if it goes away. When we got them to prescribe she only gave us a 5 day supply when google fact shows we needed 7-14 days to treat my dog properly. She then stated if he doesn't get better knowing he won't with that dose, that we HAVE to bring him back and do all the crap they recommended. First time here and will not be returning. The reason for 2 stars was they were able to get me in the same day and receptionist was nice. I brought my pup in for swelling around the nail, nurse said to me, "easy fix". Then doctor came in and said after looking at my pup, "the dog is cute, but his teeth are not, he needs a dental cleaning", as if I didnt know that already. But way wicked rude to say. Then comes the bill, $250 to clip his nails give him a pain shot and drain, after I declined antibiotics because I have some at home, if needed, the nurse right away gave me attitude and rushed through signing to get me on my way. No wonder they have a new client coupon out there for $25, they get you in the procedures and if you decline, which you should be allowed since its YOUR DOG they treat you unfairly and thats a place I will never bring my dog to again. Info: typical physical exam was $49.50, other costs were additional tests and further care etc. Outrageously overpriced place for care. This place is the best. Woke up on a Saturday and our 2 month old kitten had a bad eye infection. Called around to everyone to get a appointment and everyone was booked for weeks including VCA. But a couple hours later I got a call and they had an opening. They must have taken my number when I called because I never gave it. They where absolutely a pleasure to deal with and very reasonably priced. They took great care of Pepper and her eye has healed. We have been loyal customers to this amazing Pet hospital for the last 15 years. We've owned Dobermans our entire life and bring all of them here. The dogs love coming here and love all the attention the staff give them. We've been through numerous surgeries, health issues, ongoing thyroid and many other issues. Dr Corso is very good at diagnosing issues. They always provide the best care and provide options. Seeing all these nasty reviews on here is just so wrong when we have been treated so good here. When our pets die they always send a nice card and flowers and guide us through the process. Sasha was diagnosed with bone cancer on 3/5/20 and we were provided 2 options. We chose to make her last days at home comfortable with medications. The staff was very helpful and kept her pain managed while she passed away gracefully at home. Dr Corso gave her 4 months to live and she made it for 3. We have 2 new Dobies and they will be getting all their care here too. My dog is a pretty good in determining if people have good intentions. He never wants to go with the staff and can't wait to get out of there. The staff make no attempt to make your dog feel comfortable. Now they charge a ridiculous 80 dollars just for the office visit. In the past they would make you wait in the hot son for over 20 minutes instead of calling you letting you know they were running behind and to come back later. Amazingly still in business. During the great recession, I was laid off and our family was living on our accrued savings. Our Pekingese was having difficulty giving birth and we could tell she was in trouble. We took her to this vet and were told that she would soon die unless they performed surgery on her right away. The cost was $1800 (approximately 1/5th of what we had left in savings) but I told the group to go ahead. They refused to start the surgery until I returned with cash in-hand. Our dog gave birth to 2 dead puppies and 2 live ones. Over that same weekend, our dog died. The response from the vet - "well, at least you got the puppies!" No apologies, no offer to return some of the ridiculous cash payment. Avoid this place like the plaque. read more

I've been taking my pets there for over 4 years, and had them on the wellness plan. Most of my visits were routine and dental related. Recently, the vet has prescribed a special food that I assumed could only be bought at the facility for $50 a bag. After purchasing two bags, my friend told me about an online service that could save me money and deliver. The service needed prescription verification, which you would think would be routine for dog food, but the vet is refusing to verify the script, saying I have to get the food from them because according to the manager Tarin, the online service Chewy.com isn't reputable enough for the doctor to authorize dog food. I asked them to price match at $36 a bag and they were shocked that it was that low. It doesn't shock me that an online service would have less expensive product, but what does shock me is their insistence that I buy from them or another of their VCA facilities around California or Arizona. It seems to be extortion, to force me to only buy from them something they prescribed. I don't feel comfortable doing business with them anymore, and they are losing my wellness business over this. In hindsight, the vet does order many unnecessary tests it seems that cost me more money and only come back negative. I feel like a vet should be able to recognize common signs and would have appreciated more conservative approach to animal care then all the extra expensive tests. But ultimately, forcing me to shop from them was the last straw for me. I'm done and would warn future patients to be cautious when dealing with this facility. read more

They have debited my account over 1200.00 and I suddenly get a call from a debt collector. To not ruin my perfect credit I paid it, but of course will never be back. I saw a definite decline in the quality of care given to my pet this year. My dog has been fairly healthy, so our visits are usually just our annual checkup and teeth cleaning. This year the check up was difficult, with a 45 minute wait in the parking lot in 110 degrees. My dog sustained injuries during his teeth cleaning. When he was released to us he could barely walk. The techs led me to believe it was just the anesthesia. I found out a week later that he had a pinched nerve in his neck. After a week, he was still in pain and having difficulty getting up and laying down. I reached out to the VCA office and received no response. We did seek chiropractor care to resolve the issues and now a month later, are seeing improvement. I understand neck injury can occur during dental work. I really feel a response from the office should have been communicated. No one did. Your techs should be better trained to recognize signs of neck injury. He couldn't raise his head after his teeth cleaning. I didn't know it, but that is an immediate sign of injury. If we hadn't sought other care, our dog would no longer be with us. We have been going to this office since they opened around 20 years ago. This year was the first real issue we had and it could have cost our pet's life. The staff does not appear skilled or caring. We have notes on our dog's chart about choker collars NOT to be used, yet every time they try to put one on him and we have to intervene. read more

I came to this place with my dog who had a swelling on her hock joint (corresponding to the ankle joint of a human). I knew that the shin bone was not broken so it had to be something in the joint itself. The doctor checked the swelling (about 2.5 minutes) and stated that she would not know what it is and an x-ray is required. Charges: $77 for a total of six (6) minutes inclusive weighing the dog and checking his temperature! Then I was told the the x-ray would cost $275. Being familiar with x-rays I questioned the amount and was told that the charges include the "exposure of the assistant to the radiation" and sending the image it to an other doctor for a "second opinion". Charging for the "exposure" is a pure moneymaker which may work for the uneducated public. What's even worse is charging for the need of a non-resident doctor before an x-ray is even taken. Any doctor or veterinarian who orders an x-ray must be able to see bone fractures and/or a bone chip. (Reading soft tissues concentrations is more difficult but this does not apply in this case). This "required" fictional second opinion is a clever door opener for many more charges. How about if the non-resident doctor is not immediately available and your vet. recommends to keep the dog for observation and you have another hundreds of dollars going down the drain? Yes, our feelings for animals is a good money maker. Shame on you! read more

So disappointed in this vet office. We have been coming here for years with our dog. My family also brings their pets here. We all have utilized the pet wellness plan. My plan expired in June, and I hadn't gotten in to take my pup for his shots and teeth cleaning. I called to make an appointment and they said it was no problem, they would honor the plan as we didn't use any of the services that the plan included, and paid the $34.99/ mo. for the past year. (He's been on the plan for the past 6 years). When I brought him in, they said that they, in fact, would not honor it and that my bill would be full price. Frustersting that they told me one thing over the phone, made the appointment, I brought him in, spent an hour there, to be told that the person on the phone misspoke. Needless to say, I did not resign up on another plan. read more
