My veterinarian recommended Pearland 288 Animal Emergency Clinic. Everything was being facilitated through my veterinarian's office. When I arrived with my dog, Eva ripped into me. Quote- Unquote per Eva: "We do not take care of animals that need 24/7 care." "We do not take care of animals with these kind of medical issues." Although, it was 4th of July weekend, I knew in my heart, that if it was meant to be, I needed to let my dog pass away at home with pure love, compassion, dignity, and respect. I was literally walking out the door with my dog to go home. Eva stopped me from leaving and she had a completely different attitude and the paperwork was in order. I put down a $8,500 deposit for four days which also included a 2% credit card fee. SCAM ARTISTS!!! I found zero comfort in the updated phone calls from the following veterinarian's. 1) Dr. Coffey did not have the professionalism to call the veterinarian who performed the ultrasound on my dog and request the imaging and report. How could Dr. Coffey properly perform her job without the ultrasound imaging and report? 2) Dr. Linton, owner, spoke to me like she was a robot. All I heard from Dr. Linton was; "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH" 3) Dr. Hardegree was Mr. Hooray "Rah, Rah, Rah" cheerleader who was truly trying to make me believe my dog did an immediate health turnaround and was coming home. He literally told me the diagnostic tests showed great improvement. (enzymes, counts, and values were all improving) I explained this in detail to my veterinarian regarding Dr. Hardegree's new diagnosis. I heard nothing on the other end of the phone - pure silence, which told me that Dr. Hardegree was giving me false hope. My veterinarian was in dismay regarding Dr. Hardegree's diagnosis. I told my veterinarian to examine my dog and call me back immediately because I am picking up my dog tonight. He called me back and said; "Your dog is not improving. How long will it take you to get here?" I picked up my dog about a half hour later. The total cost was just under $10,000 including a plethora of medications to take home. Less than 12 hours later my dog passed away at home. I have comfort in knowing that my dog passed away in her mommy's arms at home surrounded by her entire family. My dog was not in pain or suffering but passed away with pure love, compassion, dignity, and respect. Stating the above, I know how I was treated by the staff which was beyond unprofessional, disrespectful, and disgraceful. I damn well know that my dog, a helpless sick animal, was treated worse. Although, I listened to the professional advise of my veterinarian and I do believe that my veterinarian was truly looking out for the best interest of my dog. My issue is this... we literally had to make a life and death decision, in a split second, put a number on the life of our family member, without any time to think. Unfortunately, we just couldn't afford to attempt to save his life, as many could NOT afford that kind of money right now, although I was looking for credit cards to finance saving my dogs life. It should not be this way. I feel that these "Emergency Rooms" for pets know exactly how animal lover's will pay just about any amount to save their fur baby's life. I feel they use emotional manipulation to over charge and should be regulated. I do not feel that they went into this line of work for the love of animals. We arrived to continue her care after her vet closed for the day. As soon as I walked in carrying my blanket covered baby, they led me into their open concept care area. There were maybe a dozen or so examination tables and several kennels along the walls and there's also, I think, two surgery rooms and a couple of dimly lit rooms for saying goodbye. Clients see what's going on with every pet at the different examination tables. Sadly I witnessed a dog die after the staff tried giving it chest compressions for what felt like forever. They really seemed to try and give it their all. It was the saddest thing to witness, especially knowing my dog was likely headed in that same direction. I lost it and cried. One of the many bouts of tears I had that day. Unlike the exam tables, the surgery and goodbye rooms are private. Dr. Burbano and staff examined my dog to see if there was anything they could do and they gave me my options and the corresponding prices. The price went up the longer they cared for my dog. I could leave her there for 24 hours, 12, 8, 4 etc and I could stay with her the whole time. I could tell there wouldn't be any progress if I left her there longer so I ended up leaving her for 8-10 hrs, enough time for progress to hopefully be made but not so long as to avoid the inevitable and to have an unnecessarily high bill. After hours on the exam table they moved her to a kennel. From the kennel she was moved to a dimly lit room where I held her in my arms for hours and said my goodbyes as she was hooked up to an IV. While in the room, a staff member went over end of life options with me, private or group cremation, different urns etc. Paying for everything was very convenient. They texted me the itemized pricing for both my dog's car and end of life options and you pay from your phone, never having to leave your pet's side. My dog's cremated remains and end of life items where delivered to my home I believe a week or two later. The postal worker ( not a VEG employee) was also kind and compassionate during the delivery. I loved how caring the VEG staff was, how well they explained everything, and that they were very understanding and didn't rush me at all. I greatly appreciate my dog's veterinarian referring me to VEG and I would highly recommend them to anyone experiencing a pet emergency or saying goodbye to their precious furry one.

Update: We wound up at UrgentVet in the Woodlands later the same day. The experience was like night and day. They greeted us, almost immediately, the doctor saw her within 30 minutes and came up with a course of diagnosis to find out what is going on. We are now waiting for the results and all of it happened in under an hour. I dropped 2k on the diag and treatment but would have paid double that if needed for my precious dog. These people actually seemed to care about my pet and me.

They gave him zorbium without consulting in letting us know what they were going to give him. and they killed our cat with in a day. upon calling the vet after my cat had passed away, they refused to speak to us on the phone and made the receptionist handled the conversation and said that they give opioids as standard pain medicine even if it's not after surgery completely bad practice we spoke to three or four vets after this happened and all of which said it's a known thing to not just administer opioids without consulting, letting family know about possible effects. Very upset with how this was handled.
