    Dolly

I am finally writing a review after more than a year. If I could give negative stars I would. I had the worst experience here. We brought our little 16 year old female dog in for an emergency at the WIllis Emergency Animal Clinic. My background story is that our family woke up in the middle of the night to our dog Dolly's screaming. She is small dog who had hip and spine degeneration. She tried to get up in the middle of the night and hurt her back. When we got her to the clinic, the man behind the counter was the least compassionate vet tech I had ever experienced. We told him that something was wrong with her back and told him she was screaming in pain and we thought it would be best to let her go. Even though we told him she was in a lot of pain, he picked her up and carried her with one arm to take her in the back and he had us go to a small room to wait for the vet. When he came into the room with our dog, he literally tossed her on the table and she almost went over. I had to quckly catch her and he walked out without saying anything. I was too shocked to say anything. I didn't see him again and I didn't say anything to the vet. I did see other people giving him bad reviews. I really hope he is out of the profession. He is the LEAST compassionate vet tech I have ever experienced. He does not know how to care for animals. I don't know if he is still there. I hope he is not working with animals wherever he is. Dolly was with us for 15 years. She was amazing and sweet. She was our family member. She did not deserve that kind of treatment for the last few moments of her life. Find a different emergency place for your animal.

They greeted us, almost immediately, the doctor saw her within 30 minutes and came up with a course of diagnosis to find out what is going on. We are now waiting for the results and all of it happened in under an hour. I dropped 2k on the diag and treatment but would have paid double that if needed for my precious dog. When I told the vet that we were on a very limited budget rather than trying to sell me treatments I couldn't afford so that I would walk away feeling guilty for not being able to afford them she asked me if I wouldn't mind telling her what my budget was and adjusted her recommendations to fit my budget. She gave him pain medication and antibiotics. We were able to pick up the medication at the counter when we paid for our visit and we came out with a vet bill that we could afford. I don't live in Conroe so I doubt I will be going back but, if I ever do find myself in need of a vet in Conroe, or on a Sunday I like this place.

When we discovered that our nine-year-old spaniel was bleeding from her mouth, we monitored her for an hour or so to see if it subsided. After all, it was a Sunday and our regular vet wasn't open. When the bleeding continued, with it occasionally being pretty significant, I jumped on my vet's website to see what emergency clinics they recommend. Emergency Pet Care of Texas was one of two listed, and since I'd had an extremely negative experience with the one that is actually closer to me, I made the nearly 40-minute drive up to Magnolia to have her checked out. Sign in was smooth and not overly detailed (not asking a lot of what I deem as unnecessary questions). Wait time was minimal. Tech tended to her relatively quickly, and by this time much of the bleeding had subsided greatly. Still wanted her to see a vet, which she did shortly. Vet was thorough and didn't recommend any additional testing or examination because by the time she saw the vet, all bleeding had stopped. If it had not, it would have indicated something more severe: rat poison or sago palm ingestion, for example. But since that did not appear to be the case, we were instructed to watch her, keep her quiet with minimal exercise and see our regular vet the next day when they were open if the bleeding began again. I appreciate that EPCT was not overly aggressive in trying to treat what turned out to be a minor nick on her gum line that apparently caused the bleeding (mouth bleeds can be pretty traumatic initially, I was told, but they do subside within an hour or two if it's nothing serious). Other emergency vet clinics usually jump on "needed testing" which results in sometimes exorbitant charges that prove nothing at all (I'm speaking from experience). The techs and the vet calmed my fears, assessed my dog for potential dire conditions and sent us on our way. Easy to locate, ample parking, nice waiting area, friendly attendants, techs and vet experience. Charges were extremely fair. Wait time for us was short, but understand they do triage incoming cases so wait times can be extended due to severity of emergency. Definitely recommended, since they only treat emergency cases (rather than continuing, routine care of pets), so they are clearly prepped for that. While it was a drive to get here from where we live, it was worth it knowing I wouldn't need to cash in my 401(k) for my dog to be seen on a Sunday.

Each time has been as good as can be expected when you're in an emergency situation, and it's your fur baby's life on the line. This time was no different except for it was my cat, and he was on his way out. He was in very, very bad shape. He was triaged immediately. The news was not what I wanted, but as the person who has raised him for 19 years, it was a decision I had to make. My point here is the ladies that were on duty that evening were not just professional, or on point with their assessment, but went above and beyond on the empathy scale. I cannot say enough about the support that I received while I was there and I would 1000% recommend this Clinic to anyone. Everyone that helped me that evening from the front desk to the ladies in the back...I appreciate the kind words and the hugs that I received. The staff was tremendously compassionate, helpful and comforting to me as I faced my dog's final day. I was referred to VEG by my dog's vet. We arrived to continue her care after her vet closed for the day. As soon as I walked in carrying my blanket covered baby, they led me into their open concept care area. There were maybe a dozen or so examination tables and several kennels along the walls and there's also, I think, two surgery rooms and a couple of dimly lit rooms for saying goodbye. Clients see what's going on with every pet at the different examination tables. Sadly I witnessed a dog die after the staff tried giving it chest compressions for what felt like forever. They really seemed to try and give it their all. It was the saddest thing to witness, especially knowing my dog was likely headed in that same direction. I lost it and cried. One of the many bouts of tears I had that day. Unlike the exam tables, the surgery and goodbye rooms are private. Dr. Burbano and staff examined my dog to see if there was anything they could do and they gave me my options and the corresponding prices. The price went up the longer they cared for my dog. I could leave her there for 24 hours, 12, 8, 4 etc and I could stay with her the whole time. I could tell there wouldn't be any progress if I left her there longer so I ended up leaving her for 8-10 hrs, enough time for progress to hopefully be made but not so long as to avoid the inevitable and to have an unnecessarily high bill. After hours on the exam table they moved her to a kennel. From the kennel she was moved to a dimly lit room where I held her in my arms for hours and said my goodbyes as she was hooked up to an IV. While in the room, a staff member went over end of life options with me, private or group cremation, different urns etc. Paying for everything was very convenient. They texted me the itemized pricing for both my dog's car and end of life options and you pay from your phone, never having to leave your pet's side. My dog's cremated remains and end of life items where delivered to my home I believe a week or two later. The postal worker ( not a VEG employee) was also kind and compassionate during the delivery. I loved how caring the VEG staff was, how well they explained everything, and that they were very understanding and didn't rush me at all. I greatly appreciate my dog's veterinarian referring me to VEG and I would highly recommend them to anyone experiencing a pet emergency or saying goodbye to their precious furry one.

They were doing a shift change and there were at least 12 vets and techs there. NO ONE offered to help us carry in this large cage and they could see we were elderly (75). Then we sat in the room crying about our feral cat while they were laughing out in the exam area. Very rude and uncaring atmosphere. The vet wanted us to put the injured feral cat back out in the 20 degree weather rather than gently put him to sleep and out of his misery. My friend warned us not to go there because they were rude and uncaring with her cat. We just came from our regular Vet who actually examined the feral cat and said he would not have made it one more night outside because he was extremely malnourished and dehydrated. He had not come for food at our house for 8 days. I am deeply troubled that the ER did not examine this animal before refusing care and offering guidance that directly conflicted with the medical findings of a licensed veterinarian. I am sharing this so others can advocate strongly for animals in distress and consider their options carefully. Please trust your instincts and seek a second opinion if something does not feel right.

This morning she wasn't doing so good so I called around, the emergency hospital was the only place available to see her in a timely manner. They told me their fee was around 300 and something dollars just to get an examination on her once I brought her to them, The technician said that she would need a lot more care than what it seems to be like regarding maybe a blood transfusion and that her temperature was very low so the starting cost would be around $1200 and then it would just go up from there depending on what the doctor says. Since I wasn't going to be able to keep her, I wasn't necessarily ready to pay a large amount of money to get her the treatment she was needing since I just found her and wasn't able to keep her. I wish animal hospitals had the desire to help animals in distress instead of requesting large amounts of money and doing treatment asap. I understand if it is dire and the animal might need a lot of medical treatment which could raise the price up but I feel like they were extremely high and there was nothing I was able to do. I asked her opinion on what she thought and she said if I couldn't pay to help get her the treatenant as it was my responsibility to pay since I brought her in the other option would be to just euthanize her. It just kind of made me sad as the whole point of me getting her treatment was to get her another chance at life. so I had to do the hard thing and say I didn't want any treatment and I was going to call around to another vets to see if there was anything they could do differently unfortunately she did pass within the next 20 minutes after leaving the animal hospital. Please be careful where you take your animals seeking treatment, even if it might be a stray who is in need. I hope there are some clinics out there who have the desire to help animals who they could are in distress without asking for a large amount of money up front! This will be my last time coming here. I've been here before with my first cat that I had and I paid over $1200 for them to tell me she had a cold and just needed some rest. I don't believe I ever even got any medication for her so this will definitely be the last time I will be going here.
