It's been almost three weeks since my Toby crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a Sunday and poor Toby was in extreme pain from osteosarcoma. I was hoping he would make it to his twelfth birthday, but I was being selfish. I couldn't even put his vest on him to help him get down the stairs and his stomach was extremely upset. As he lay on the grass outside resting, I knew it was time. My partner and I drove him to VEG and they directed us to a room. It was a nice room with a couch, dim lights and tissue boxes. I was crying my eyes out. They were very understanding and brought a blanket for Toby to lay on. They described different options and what I could expect. What a sad day. I had never put a dog to sleep, never expected my Toby to have cancer, never felt so sad. But the staff made everything better. I was able to choose an urn, order a footprint cast, I'm glad I came here. I miss my Toby. About a week later I received a personalized post card from VEG signed by staff members. I felt that was a very thoughtful action on their part. They turned what was a very tragic situation into one that left me with peaceful memories of that particular moment. read more

We had a good experience here! When our cat's sutures came open from a previous surgery, they welcomed us in to a private room for waiting (which was very nice). Although the wait was super long (~5.5 hours on a Friday night....), they did a great job restitching our girl and making sure she was doing well after losing body heat from the anesthesia. The only thing I didn't love (besides the wait) was that this place is an open concept, so the procedures are mostly happening out in the open in a large warehouse-like room. The vets and techs were very kind, friendly and welcoming though and I would feel comfortable coming here again. It's always nice knowing you have a backup option in case of emergency as many of the local pet ERs get extremely busy and have even longer waits due to triage. read more

Every time I've had to bring one of my dogs here the staff has been so kind and so caring and gentle with my dogs and my fragile emotional state any time they get into some kind of trouble...which has been more than a few times. I always leave feeling like my dog is going to be ok, I understand what they told me and what they did if anything needed to be done. They're not judgemental, I deserved to be judged when my one dog had a puncture wound I didn't know about until it was infected and they treated me so kindly I almost wished someone would have been mean bc I felt so bad for not knowing my buddy was in pain. I truly appreciate this clinic with every fiber of my being. I trust them with my dogs and for me that's huge bc they're my babies and I love them. What a great find! This practice is so good and was so good to my sick dog. You can be there with your pet throughout so that they aren't as scared when they are here. All of the veterinary staff and doctors took such good care of us. They have water and snacks if you need something while you are being seen. It certainly wasn't inexpensive, but if you need an emergency vet this certainly does the trick. They are open 24 hours a day and even though it was a weekday afternoon, I imagine they are just as attentive in the middle of the night. I will most certainly be back if an emergency arises with one of my dogs and highly recommend this facility and all of its staff members. read more

They were responsible for losing my pets remains. I recently lost my pug of 16 years and had him cremated Thur veg er in Pikesville. The service was agape pet services. Veg er never verified my address in their system and my pets remains were sent to an address that I haven't live at since 2015. They tried to blame me by saying I should have verified the address through usps tracking, which made no sense. I can't explain how upset I feel today. I'm still tring to track down my pets remains I hope some one from this hospital to offer an apology. I feel they only care about the money and that is all. read more

We needed to take our 18 year old cat after what looked like a seizure. Dr. King and the whole staff were amazing! They quickly took care of our pet and took care of us. They were very thorough in their diagnostics, and cost. It is an open treatment area and they permit you in the area where they are caring for your pet. The other positive is they are 24/7 so you don't have to go between your regular vet and the emergency vet. We appreciated everything they did CB for Darcy and us. Thank you ER Vet. read more

Our apologies, this review should have been put in over a month ago-no excuses. My wife and I have nothing but high praises for VEG. We had a situation where our fur baby had to have a benign cyst removed, at our regular vet. However, things did not go as planned, fast forward our little angel needed a blood transfusion and time was of the essence. My wife and I were all the way down in the city. Our vet had their office manager rush our technically dying pup, to VEG where our son met her there. He did not tell us until later but said it did not look good. VEG started the transfusion immediately upon arrival-probably saving her life. Our unconditional love pup spent 30 hours in the ER and in the 02 chamber, each hour getting better. We were allowed to stay in a separate room, the entire 30 hours, watching her on a baby monitor. The DR. and tech's were great-we understood that this could have gone either way, they definitely did not sugar coat anything, we knew what we were up against, they were very straight forward. I have to say, we walked out of the ER, with our baby girl. It was not her time, and VEG made that happen. I understand that it is not always a positive outcome, unfortunately we witnessed that, the 30 hours that we were there. We feel blessed that we have more time with our girl. People that say it is just a dog/cat or whatever, should not own them. They are not pets, they are family members. We can't thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I brought my cat here early in the morning for an injured leg after spending several hours the night before somewhere else that didn't do anything. The people at VEG were AMAZING! Every single person was kind, understanding, caring and patient. They looked at my cat as soon as we walked in the door, gave him pain meds and began the process of sedating and x-raying. Throughout the whole process, they kept me informed of what was going on and what my options were moving forward. They offered and made me coffee when I got there which was so appreciated! They also gave my 5 year old daughter Go-gurt and were so patient with having a noisy kid around. Once everything was done, they told me what my options were moving forward and answered all my questions. The office space was very clean and welcoming. They had a room for us to sit in with my cat while we waited for sedation to kick in. I really appreciated not being separated from him during our 3 hour stay. I will DEFINITELY use VEG in the future as our ER vet if needed! Thank you all so much! You really are the best around! read more

You have to make an appointment before you can even talk to any staff members at this facility. So I did just that, made an appointment. Was then called and I explained how long the wait would be which was over an hour. So sat in my car with my dog for about 90 minutes. Finally after getting into the building and seeing the Vet. They were very nice and seemed to care about the animals. Not very quick with the check out. Had to wait another 35 minutes for the medications. But the veterinarian was knowledgeable and listened so if in dire need would probably use them again but next time would call and make my appointment from home so not waiting in the car with my sick boy. read more

Dr Caroline Dwivedi was very professional, attentive and kind. I am certain without her care and knowledge my family and I would no longer have our dear Bailey and even more sadly for himself, his life would have been cut short or quality of life significantly reduced. Dr. Dwivedi provided exceptional care and has a genuine kindness to her eyes. I loved noticing how the entire team interacts with each other and no conflict of position but a seamless flow of running smoothly to get tasks done. Sophia and Maria were also amazing! I do apologize, now that I'm thinking back I wish I would have received the names of 2 other ladies who really were supportive and impacted how well the visit went. Maria answered my call twice before I arrived when I was hysterical watching Bailey's condition deteriorate within minutes. She is a wonderful first line of action for assisting people in panic or uncertain want to do while also providing emotional support! Maria you are so amazing, thank you! Maria communicated the importance of getting Bailey to them quickly and understand some of the steps to look forward to upon arrival based on what she could gather, assuring the Dr would need to examine for best care. Alli was also amazingly kindly and helpful, she prepared baileys catheter and noticed his temperature being low and prepared a warm blanket for Bailey. Thank you to Allie's colleague who assisted with helping and ensuring Bailey was steady and calm, beautiful team work! Sophia was helpful with the administering of medication towards the end and discussing how I should give Bailey his take home medications, understanding his temperament during recovery to ensure we are giving Bailey the best chance. Honestly, the entire staff was so kind. There was another young lady who helped administer the catheter when we first arrived, she was so patient and a doll and her colleague who helped hold Bailey, forgive me for not getting all of your names. During my visit Dr Smith was also helpful with advising I should hold off on giving Bailey snacks while we were there and checking on us while Dr Dwivedi was with another animal that was in distress. Dr Dwivedi and Dr Smith exhibited working as a great team while manuring the animals, it was truly beautiful to see. I love the energy you all exude! Please please please continue to support each other, I know it is work but you all appear as a sisterhood. What you do is an experience no one else can relate to but you all. You all are doing some heavenly work. I really appreciate you all so much and hope your facility is recognized for all you do. This place treated me and my fur baby so kindly. I didn't even really have to ask any questions because everything was so straight forward and easy. They treated my fur child with such respect and tender care. I stayed during the entire exam and treatment however they made me feel comfortable enough that if I were to leave my pet ,he would be just fine. Although emergency vet visit are usually a break in the bank it wasn't too bad. Also with the quality of care given I had no issue paying the price. Despite my pet child being a bit of a handful during treatment, the reassured of everything. The nurses were also really nice too. Everything was just overall great 10/10, if something was to ever occurred again (hopefully not) I would definitely be bringing my fur baby back here! read more

Dr. Brije Smith: From the moment I arrived, the experience felt off. No one welcomed us, we were just stared at until the receptionist directed us into a room. That cold reception made an already stressful situation even more uncomfortable. I was told the exam would cost $200, but when I asked what was included, no one gave me a straight answer. The actual exam took less than two minutes, just a quick weight and temperature check, followed by a brief look at my rabbit. The doctor asked if she could use AI to record my rabbits medical information, and while I agreed, I expected more focus on providing real answers and treatment guidance. Instead, I got vague, uncertain responses. At one point, I asked about the RHDV2 vaccine, a very important and common vaccination for rabbits. Shockingly, the vet had no idea what it was and said she had never seen it. Yet, the paperwork they handed me specifically asked if my rabbit had received the RHDV2 vaccine, clearly showing a lack of awareness or training on their own forms and standards. To test her knowledge, I even asked questions I had already discussed with a previous exotic vet. Her answers were still incorrect or unclear, and she often second-guessed herself. It was obvious she didn't have the experience or understanding needed to properly care for exotic pets like rabbits. What could have been done better? - Greet clients and make them feel welcome. - Clearly explain pricing and what's included in the exam. - Ensure staff are trained and informed, especially on basic and essential treatments like RHDV2. - Hire doctors/vets who are confident, experienced, and equipped to handle exotic pets. read more

The most loving and compassionate staff! I brought in my dog after she was having some hematuria. Several other ERs said her case wasn't critical and the wait would be hours. Here, we were triaged immediately and provided a private room to wait in. All tests and diagnostics were explained. They handled my baby with tender care. We are so glad we took her when we did. She already is feeling much better. We sponsor an outdoor cat, who needed medical attention. A local vet referred us to VEG (our regular vet was unable to see the cat til the next day). We arrived and were seen immediately. The techs and doctor were so kind and very good with a frightened cat. They couldn't help with the underlying problem -- dental, and our usual vet can do the procedure soon -- but did a thorough exam and and administered an antibiotic shot. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. I'd definitely return here in an emergency situation. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. I brought my 12 week old puppy in that was non stop vomiting, and they told me that it could be a hundred things. They told me that if I don't pay $4,000 for testing that my puppy would die within 48 hrs which wasn't true. When I asked for reasons and details they went around my questions and would not answer me. They basically blamed me for my puppies illnesses (out of my control, i got him that day) and tried to convince me to sign up for care credit and get a loan. The staff was extremely rude and lacked compassion. They were not understanding at all. They tried to use the situation for their own monetary gain. This place is just trying to steal your money during hard times with unnecessary procedures and testing. Stay away!!!! read more

I would not recommend this location for birds. My parakeet had a blood feather that I was able to stop the bleeding prior to arrival; however, wanted her seen and the area cleaned to prevent the bleeding from restarting. Two expert vetinarians came in to take a peak from a distance and indicated they had another small animail that needed immediate assistance. Two hours later, one of the experts came into the room to clean the area to discover the feather was still in her wing. The vet was visaibily uncomfortable and no longer confident in caring for the parakeet without seeking assistance/input from the more experienced vet. She was gone for 45 minutes when we were asked to leave our room due to an emergency situation. We were placed in front of the doorway on a very cold evening. At this point, it was more prudent for me to take the parakeet home verses allowing her to get sick from the cold air coming through the door and due to the extended length of my visit I was comfortable that the area would not begin bleeding again. I approached the vet who completed the exam and she indicated that she really wanted to consult her peer who she indicated was "much more experienced with this". I was given materials to clean the area at home and given my bill with none of the care items completed. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this group. I was just home from the hospital where my sister had just passed away when my beloved Chester began to gasp for breath. He was a big dog and I couldn't pick him up. The team from VEG came and picked him up for me at 1:00 AM and rushed him with me following to the hospital. They immediately began working on him but unfortunately my 13 year old furbaby's heart gave out. They were so amazing and helped to cope with his passing and assisted me with arranging his cremation. They also sent me a lovely plant and card which was so unexpected. Everyone was so kind and loving and even though I lost my baby I took comfort that he had the best care and love. Thank you VEG. I took my German Shepherd there. My choices were 307$ visit where they guess what was wrong and give meds. Or $1,145 visit for a thorough exam. They gave my aggressive dog a dose of anesthesia which didn't put him out. (Charged me). Gave him another dose ( charged me). When they came in the third time, my dog, who was muzzled the whole time, was not knocked out but manageable enough to receive services. . The doctor wanted to give him a 3rd dose of anesthesia which I refused. They said they did not want to handle the dog because someone in the office just got bit. I told them ( and they saw ) that the dog was muzzled. They still refused. My vet handles my dog with a muzzle. These ladies- although nice- were not equipped to handle my muzzled dog. I wish they would have been honest with me before (robbing) charging me $665.04. read more

It did take awhile since more critical pets were being treated when we arrived. The space is very comfortable for waiting (snacks and bathrooms provided) and the staff is helpful. I cannot say enough good things about this location. We were looked after the minute we walked in with our sick dog. We ended up euthanizing our beloved dog and they could not have been more helpful and considerate during our ordeal. We opted for the private cremation and it was completed very quickly and we were impressed with the urn and finger print that was provided. I brought in my dying pet and was quoted a price but when I received the emailed receipt they had charged an $100 to my American Express card. I called to dispute the charge but they wouldn't let me speak with the staff who worked with me and quoted me. I was told the medical director wou return my call but no one ever called. read more

ONLY giving this place a one star because I can't choose to give zero stars. I would NEVER recommend this place to anybody. My mother took our Guinea pig to the vet the other day and they put them in a room for THREE WHOLE HOURS and then once my mother was sick of the BS of them taking so long she started packing up and once the veterinarian seen that, then she came into the room and triaged him again after three whole hours. Then put info on his chart as if he was/is being neglected by us because he had poop stuck to his butt from being there for three hours and sitting in one spot and defecating in the same area so of course it's gonna get stuck after that long. He is a free room, guinea pig at home and he has never had feces stuck to his butt before, but because of their negligence that ended up happening and they again made it look like he was not being taken care of. What's funny is the vet tech said that our guinea pig came in with the feces on his butt but she again did not see him for three whole hours so how does that make sense? They literally gaslight you because they don't care about what their job should entail it's clearly all about MONEY. Also, another thing , a vet had came in for a few seconds and told my mother that she was now off the clock so someone else would be in AKA the one who took three hours, but then the vet was supposedly off the clock literally sat on the computer and played games for two whole hours, but she couldn't triage or do anything with our guinea pig. That to me is negligence, especially at an emergency vet when your pet needs to be seen ASAP. If you want to spend a whole ton of money and get no service for your pet that actually is going to help them, then by all means go...but if you actually care about your animal, then I wouldn't even put this emergency vet as a thought in your head. I have never in my life wrote a bad review, but they were so terrible that now I have had no choice but to do this and I mean every word that I say. My mom's cat Billie Jean was sick, and I took her to the Pikesville location. The clinic was clean, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, I had to put Billie Jean to sleep. It was tough because my mom had just passed, and her cat was the last connection I had to her. The doctor was very understanding and went above and beyond to comfort me.
