I (unfortunately) needed emergency services for my little Bernie today. From the second I walked in to the clinic, it was like being with family. The staff was nurturing to Bernie, but also to me. They answered every question before I could even asked and answered them over and over again, no matter how many times I asked things. No one rushed me and I never felt like I wasn't important. You made my last day with my baby so comfortable and welcoming and I will always be grateful.

I thought it was thoughtful for the staff to send me a personalized card after the death of my dog.

It's been almost three weeks since my Toby crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a Sunday and poor Toby was in extreme pain from osteosarcoma. I was hoping he would make it to his twelfth birthday, but I was being selfish. I couldn't even put his vest on him to help him get down the stairs and his stomach was extremely upset. As he lay on the grass outside resting, I knew it was time. My partner and I drove him to VEG and they directed us to a room. It was a nice room with a couch, dim lights and tissue boxes. I was crying my eyes out. They were very understanding and brought a blanket for Toby to lay on. They described different options and what I could expect. What a sad day. I had never put a dog to sleep, never expected my Toby to have cancer, never felt so sad. But the staff made everything better. I was able to choose an urn, order a footprint cast, I'm glad I came here. I miss my Toby. About a week later I received a personalized post card from VEG signed by staff members. I felt that was a very thoughtful action on their part. They turned what was a very tragic situation into one that left me with peaceful memories of that particular moment.

Oliver - Thanks Dr. Rodriguez, we love you!!!!!!!!!

Dr Rodriguez too and the techs too great care of my Oliver a few years ago. It's not cheap but in a pinch it's worth it!!!!

This is Gunny. Gunny ate some stuff he shouldn't have. VEG fixed him up and eased my soul.

Every time I've had to bring one of my dogs here the staff has been so kind and so caring and gentle with my dogs and my fragile emotional state any time they get into some kind of trouble...which has been more than a few times. I always leave feeling like my dog is going to be ok, I understand what they told me and what they did if anything needed to be done. They're not judgemental, I deserved to be judged when my one dog had a puncture wound I didn't know about until it was infected and they treated me so kindly I almost wished someone would have been mean bc I felt so bad for not knowing my buddy was in pain. I truly appreciate this clinic with every fiber of my being. I trust them with my dogs and for me that's huge bc they're my babies and I love them. Thank you guys for always treating me and my canine companions with such kindness AND excellent care of course!

Our apologies, this review should have been put in over a month ago-no excuses. My wife and I have nothing but high praises for VEG. We had a situation where our fur baby had to have a benign cyst removed, at our regular vet. However, things did not go as planned, fast forward our little angel needed a blood transfusion and time was of the essence. My wife and I were all the way down in the city. Our vet had their office manager rush our technically dying pup, to VEG where our son met her there. He did not tell us until later but said it did not look good. VEG started the transfusion immediately upon arrival-probably saving her life. Our unconditional love pup spent 30 hours in the ER and in the 02 chamber, each hour getting better. We were allowed to stay in a separate room, the entire 30 hours, watching her on a baby monitor. The DR. and tech's were great-we understood that this could have gone either way, they definitely did not sugar coat anything, we knew what we were up against, they were very straight forward. I have to say, we walked out of the ER, with our baby girl. It was not her time, and VEG made that happen. I understand that it is not always a positive outcome, unfortunately we witnessed that, the 30 hours that we were there. We feel blessed that we have more time with our girl. People that say it is just a dog/cat or whatever, should not own them. They are not pets, they are family members. We can't thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. You didn't give up on her and we didn't give up on you. You all as a team made this happen. THANK YOU!! Regards, Rob, Julia, & Delilah (BB) Gonzalez

    Fur baby, Bentley.

The Doctors gave our kitty 6 months to a year to live. Before they would treat her, we had to sign an agreement to spend 4000 to 6000 dollars. My daughter is there - we love our kitty -- what are you going to do? Ginger died the next day -- not 6 months to a year later. The Hospital Director said "sorry, no partial refunds -- it's company policy." So -- if you think this is a reasonable practice, okay -- but I don't. The workers there love animals, the corporate leadership stinks and is just another example of the scam economy we all live in now.

We brought my mom's cat in who had suddenly become very ill. The first thing the vet recommended was euthanasia, citing the cat's many health issues (heart failure, liver failure, kidney failure). Just a day prior the cat had been eating well and full of energy, even tried to climb a tree while I walked him on his leash. The vet went as far as to make us feel guilty for NOT euthanizing him, telling us it was their duty to advocate for the animal's interests. My mom opted to get him hydrated and stable and we brought him to our regular vet the following day. The vet acknowledged his health issues but suspected that his kidneys were at the root of everything. He flushed the cat's kidneys over several days and now he's back to his old self. Maybe a little thinner, but he's eating well, purring, seems to be very happy and comfortable. He does have to get subcutaneous fluids now, but many cats do and it doesn't affect his over all quality of life. In retrospect I don't think euthanasia was the right call on that day. If that is recommended to you by this vet, I would definitely get a second opinion. Unfortunately, people in an emergency situation will probably not have time to read this review. Sadly, our wonderful primary vet who got him stabilized has since passed away.

Service:5 Stars Pricing: 2 Stars…read more This past weekend, I had a very positive experience at VEG that was overshadowed by what appears to have been sheer greed. We brought our goldendoodle to VEG because he cut his paw; the laceration split one of the digits on his paw, with superficial flesh exposure. It wasn't the worst wound in the world, but bleeding persisted and it was deep enough that we needed to determine whether stitches may be needed. Dr. Forte and the technicians (I'm so sorry I did not get their names) were just amazing. And Sarah, who did our intake, was uncommonly kind and attentive. I had absolutely zero complaints with the staff. My sole complaint was with the pricing of a pain medication. I understand that emergency treatment is not inexpensive; it's just the nature of the beast. Still, when the Dr. said the total came to $400 for the exam, cleansing/bandaging of the wound and medication, I was a bit surprised so asked for a rough breakdown. The culprit, in my view, was a common, canine, pain medication, with which I was familiar. The cost was $93 for 14 pills. I asked the doctor if we could purchase it elsewhere and she said we could. When I filled the prescription at a grocery store pharmacy, I was shocked and then angered by what I learned. The prescription, for which VEG was charging $93, was $9.99 at my local Giant pharmacy. I could not believe (and still do not) a reasonable justification would exist for such an excessive medication markup. Surely, I thought, this chain hospital has access to preferred/wholesale pricing. Parasitic was the word that came to mind. I saw a business exploiting people already experiencing stress and vulnerability as the result of a beloved pet's sickness or injury. Although I was very pleased with the service we received, I am just very disappointed and troubled by this issue, to say the least. Certainly, this is not unheard of in the society in which we live. But VEG ownership/management, I feel you do a great disservice to the excellent employees who, clearly, work so hard to represent you in the best and highest light. With respect, do better...

As someone who has had an awful experience with a local vet in the past (please refer to that…read morereview on my profile) I completely empathize with the negative reviews for this office and I don't seek to invalidate them with my rating. This review is my personal experience which was very positive despite the circumstances. I had to say goodbye to the love of my life a couple weeks ago and I found the staff at EAHEC to be very compassionate, especially when compared with my previous vet experiences where the staff looked at me like I was an alien when I was upset about my cat's health problems. I brought three other people with me into the room and they didn't bat an eye (not that I would have been able to tell, anyway). The vet was incredibly kind to me and hopefully kind to my baby while he was in the back. They didn't rush us to say goodbye to him. The vet tech gave me some of his fur in a bottle. Also the price for the service + the cremation wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, so that was comforting. I'm grateful for the compassion that the staff here showed my cat, my family, and me in a very difficult hour. They were quick and attentive at getting him stabilized so that his last moments on this earth were as peaceful as they could possibly be, given the circumstances. Additionally, they sent a nice card and prints of his nose and his paws, which I declined from the pet cremation place because it cost way more than it should have, so that was a really nice and unexpected surprise.

It was completely false. They ran up the bill, despite assurance they were placing a limit of $4k, which felt crazy at the time. (I had an argument with my husband over $4,000 for vet care for an ailing, elder bunny, understandably. I knew it was crazy, but we'd lost our oldest daughter 6 months earlier, and this was her favorite bun, so it felt like a connection to her. Can you imagine if someone is in an abusive situation and might get beaten up over a gigantic vet bill like this?? Luckily, my husband was just as angry at EC Emergency Animal hospital as I was/ am.) Have never been treated so shoddily and unethically by a vet practice. Ever. Had to take my poor bunny to her regular veterinarian a few days later and have her mercifully euthanized. It's now August, still paying off the big bill on our credit card, and my rabbit suffered a few extra days. This is private-equity vet care, people! It's atrocious. And no one at the practice was ever kind or caring. I will probably not get another rabbit of my own. Can't afford it financially or emotionally due to money grubbers like this.

From the moment we stepped through the door, every single person around us leapt into action to save our girl. I have never experienced an emergency to this severity with a pet and was an absolute mess myself when we brought her in. The team worked to quickly stabilize our cat and were so sensitive and kind with my husband and I as we were grappling with extreme anxiety and anticipatory grief. Dr. Watson was the veterinarian we dealt with in those first critical hours, and she somehow struck the perfect balance between professional and warm. She sat with us while we talked through the possibilities of what was happening, the plan for diagnostics, and the decisions we should be prepared to make. It felt like being taken care of by the most knowledgeable friend you've ever met. Once we determined our cat was going to make it and be hospitalized over night, we literally felt so comfortable leaving our girl in the care of the wonderful staff. They told us multiple times that we could call at any time for an update, and we took them up on this offer when I woke up in a panic around 4am. Dr. Beckford immediately got on the phone with me, providing me with a lengthy update and allowing me to ask as many questions as I needed to feel comfortable knowing our cat was doing well. The next day when we returned to pick up our cat, Dr. Shah took so much time talking through the details of her condition and what we would do to treat her at home in the future. Instead of just doing the bare minimum, it felt like he was caring for us and for our cat like she was his own. Even on our way out the door, every vet, tech, and staff member kept reminding us that we could call or message them at any point if we had further questions or concerns. They truly mean this - even after your pet has gone home, they will gladly help reassure you or answer questions if your pet's condition changes. Since this is an open concept ER, we watched this group of vets and techs interact with a variety of pet parents for 6+ hours and at every step, you could tell that they were performing above and beyond the call of duty to do the best thing for every one of the animals that came through their doors. We were on the receiving end of that empathy, thoughtfulness, and expertise at every single turn and I would highly encourage every dog or cat owner to keep this clinic in mind for any future emergency that you might have in the future.
