It was pretty busy for it to be so early. The weight staff was very friendly and very warm and welcoming. Every single person we encountered. We ordered takeout. We had the caveman's platter and the links platter. As sides we had brussels sprouts, mac & cheese, cowboy beans and the plates came with cornbread. I was bummed they did not have collard greens and they did not have potato salad. Apparently collard greens are no longer being served. They've not yet updated their menu. And the potato salad we were advised that a large party had come before us, so there was no more. Which is crazy sad it was only noon and I think they open like at nine or 10 AM. So I kind of felt like we had to resort to what was left and based on how much food we ordered, we had six sides we had to select. Brisket vs Tri Tip- I'm a fatty meat kind of girl. So I definitely preferred the tri-tip. Which had more flavor than the brisket. Now, do not give me wrong by that statement. Because both meats are very good. You can taste that smoke for sure. But the one that you could eat without any sauce would be the tri-tip. The ribs were excellent. The barbecue links were good too. You only get two in the plate and they cut them up in little pieces. But they're good. They weren't overly spicy and they still had some good snap to them. Meats: 9.5/10 The barbecue sauce is a no. It is heavy on the vinegar so bring your own barbecue sauce. The brussels sprouts were I'd say 7/10. They weren't anything too fancy there's kind of like a balsamic on it. They're good but they're not amazing. It could've probably used like some bacon bits or something in it. I don't know. The mac & cheese is a no. It's literally large mushy noodles and watery cheese sauce.. and the cheese sauce is bland. 3/10 The cowboy beans were OK. It's more like a chili for sure. There's a lot going on in them but again they're pretty good. They lean more on the tangy side. When I say tangy, it's probably vinegar and ketchupy if I had to pinpoint the tastes. 6/10. The cornbread is a no. It's more flour based than corn. It falls apart pretty easy. It's kind of dense. At any rate, I'd prefer Jiffy over whatever they're using. 4/10

Monse took my allergies incredibly seriously from the very beginning. Rather than guessing or relying on a basic ingredient list, Monse went above and beyond to find out exactly what was in the products La Charrita uses. Monse contacted manufacturers, made phone calls, sent emails and messages, followed up with people, and worked tirelessly to determine whether the tamales could be customized safely for me. Throughout the entire process, Monse kept me informed and communicated with me about what was being researched, what information had been found, and what still needed to be confirmed. That level of communication meant so much to me. When someone has significant food allergies, knowing that a restaurant is truly investigating every ingredient makes an enormous difference. What impressed me most was that Monse continued putting in so much time and effort even though there was no guarantee I would ultimately be able to place an order. This was clearly not just about making a sale. Monse genuinely wanted to find out whether there was any possible way to make the tamales safely for me. Unfortunately, after all of that research, it became clear that the tamales could not be safely made with my particular allergies. While I was disappointed, I was extremely grateful that Monse took the time to investigate everything thoroughly rather than guessing or giving me incomplete information. That is exactly how food allergies should be handled. Monse showed incredible patience, persistence, honesty, and care. At no point did Monse make me feel like my questions were inconvenient or that I was asking too much. Instead, Monse treated my concerns with respect and did everything within Monse's power to try to find a solution. A five-star experience does not always mean getting exactly what you hoped for. Sometimes it means having someone care enough about your safety to research every possibility, communicate throughout the process, and give you an honest answer even when that answer means the restaurant cannot make the sale. Monse absolutely went above and beyond, and I am incredibly grateful for every phone call, email, message, follow-up, and effort made on my behalf. La Charrita is very fortunate to have Monse.
