Dine-in is back! We've enjoyed this laid back, family-friendly vegan restaurant since our first dine-in experience (pre-pandemic) through take-out (during the pandemic) and recently back to dine-in again. We have really loved most of the dishes we have tried, some of our favorites being the Yeero and other wraps, and would recommend them to omnivores/carnivores as well. The portions are very generous. One star off because I really prefer reusable glasses/plates/etc., maybe that will come with time. We did notice the restaurant was not very busy last time we were there, so I'm guessing people don't realize that it's no longer takeout only. Please give this restaurant some love if you've been meaning to try it out or return. We will definitely stop by the next time we are out near Apex! read more

This used to be an excellent place when that lady was running the restaurant and at the counter. The food was clean and tasty, and complete. Last two times we did a takeout from this place, a guy was at the counter. The parcels were badly packed and the hummus and condiments were missing. When only takeout is allowed due to pandemic, they better make sure that they give proper complete food items, including the hummus, condiments etc! OMG, y'all... I'm not vegan. I'm not even vegetarian. I LOVE meat, and I've never had any fake meat products, burgers, or vegan cheese but I really wanted to check this place out. Based on other reviews, I tried the kitchen burger and the mac and cheese - two things I wouldn't have normally ordered. UHMAYZING. The burger is huge. Almost too huge in fact. Even after smooshing it down I ended up having to take some of the sliced doner kebab off to have any hope of fitting it in my mouth. I ordered it without the BBQ sauce and I added mustard. The mac and cheese was a huge surprise. The textures and flavors of everything were a huge surprise! I can eat a lot but I think a burger half that size would have been appropriate even by my standards. I sampled the mac and cheese but didn't get too far into that bc it was just too much food. I have no clue what's in these things and I don't know if they're healthy but they're definitely delicious! read more

So let me preface this review by saying I like meat. I'm a fan of a good Gyro, tasty burger, or delicious lamb kebab. However, my wife is a vegetarian - so sometimes she has only sides when we go to a steakhouse; or I eat vegetarian food because, well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Surprisingly (to my wife), I was the one that suggested that we go here (okay, maybe I was looking for "good spouse" points, but let's not question my motives..) Mainly because I'm a HUGE fan of mediterranean food - and find that things like Mujadara and Hummus to be super tasty. So it was with some trepidation (mixed with excitement) that I walked into this place. I'm not a fan of tofu - it doesn't tend to agree with me, so I was happy to see that this place really doesn't use soy at all - super happy. They use a lot of Seitan - a high protein wheat gluten - and mix it with a range of spices to make lots of tasty things. I tried their "Gyro", which was surprisingly good (and with a gyro-like consistency) - they used a cashew "yogurt" instead of Taziki, and while they could/should have used more of it, the entire sandwich was SUPER tasty. My kids had the kids burger - they both liked it, and gave the place two thumbs up - but I tried it and find it to be kind of "stringy". My wife had the sweet potato dish - which she felt was really just a baked sweet potato (and not too exciting) and the soup (lentil I think) The big downside to this place was that I left feeling hungry still - the entree was kind of on the small side, and could have used more "gyro" in it. If you're a non-veg eater and are looking for a change of pace, I'd highly recommend a visit to this place. It's akin to Neomonde in some ways, but with some interesting different takes on some of the traditionally meat dishes. read more

We enjoyed our meal, which consisted of the hummus Tri, the yeero wrap, and kitchen sink burger. The kitchen sink burger was by far the best, and could possibly feed 2 people. I considered giving 4 stars, however, a few things made hesitate: 1. Seitan. Everywhere. In a wrap, on a bun, as a platter. This was pretty much the only protein available. 2. This is a vegan restaurant, but they call the cheese cheddar. Is it cheese? Is it not? 3. When I go to a vegan restaurant, I expect some excitement on the menu- think cashew cheese or coconut "fak-on". This place could basically be called House of Seitan. read more

First let me say it smells amazing in there. Second, the lady that took my order etc was so kind! She helped me with what I wanted letting me know what was in the items, just great customer service and her spirit is very rich. I ordered a cheeseburger and the macaroni with broccoli and oh my goosshh!!! The servings are huge I couldn't even finish but it was so good. You can tell it was fresh by the taste and it was steaming hot. I didn't finish it there but I definitely finished it later at home. I don't typically leave reviews but I had to for this place. There are burgers, salads, kebabs, soups, kid sized meals, and desserts. Also starters and platters with rice. The veggie packed tzatziki sauce is a perfect knockout punch of flavor without weird taste you get with some vegan things. The kebab is super flavorful, juicy, and tender you won't notice a difference. The inside of the restaurant is very comfortable and gives you community feels. Adorable decorations of animals photos without being "pushy." The mac and broccoli is okay. Your typical vegan mac and cheese and broccoli. But it's fine because I eat it on occasion. I am so angry, so upset, so utterly mad right now! I'm so mad that I didn't listen to everyone taking about this place sooner! Holy dang the food was INSANELY good!!! Samosa - super flaky, super flavorful, and perfectly crunchy. I should've ordered two Baba gonoush - I was left speechless tbh. I do wish it came with more pita bread bit I'm also happy it didn't because it went with my yeero so incredibly well. Yeero - there's no way this was vegan. Impossible. Never in my life have I had seitan that perfect. Veggie were fresh and flavorful. Sauce was perfectly messy, and the pita bread perfectly chewy. Literally perfect. Placing my order online was super easy. Once you get there, don't go in (the door is locked so you can't haha) wait in your car and call. My husband and I decided to try being vegan for the month of January in an effort to eat conscientiously as well as incorporate more of a plant-based diet into our lifestyle. We decided to have a vegan meal out, and happened to be in Apex for the morning and stopped by Vegan community kitchen. To say that the food was delicious is an understatement, I was a hundred percent blown away by just how good the food was. I had the chef special which was a vegan Philly cheesesteak, and my husband had the veggie wrap. Both were obviously made very fresh and had so much wonderful flavor neither of us missed the addition of meat or dairy at all. You're trying vegan for the first time or have been a vegan for a long time, I suggest checking this place out! Mother and daughter both seem like very sweet people! This is one of my favorite spots that's relatively close to me to have vegan food. I just wish it was even closer! The family who runs this restaurant is so friendly. I highly recommend the yeero on pita. It is the best thing on a very good menu. The main ingredient in the pita sandwich is the yeero (like Greek gyro, but this is Turkish) "meat." It's handmade every morning out of seitan, lentils, and Turkish spices. The sandwich has a delicious sauce and chopped-up onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes; it all comes together really well. Some of my other favorites are the spinach pie and the hummus platter. It is definitely worth a trip to Apex to check out this gem. Sadiye and Cansu are very warm and welcoming hosts. When I eat at Vegan Community Kitchen, I feel like I am being welcomed into someone's home for a meal made from family recipes. The food is not just good, it's exceptional. Everything is vegan, delicious, and affordable and there are LOTS of menu options. Can't wait to try the burger made from lentils. The best thing of all is how generous and friendly Sadiye and Cansu are. I just visited tonight as part of a potluck group. They opened their doors for us, prepared food, and sat and talked with us for hours. This all seemed great until I learned they did all of this on their only day off all week. Then I was floored. First time visiting tonight, and it was excellent. Spotless and unassuming dining area, with a straightforward menu of fresh wraps, sandwiches, falafel, etc. All vegan, of course, with the choices all having a Mediterranean tilt. The freshly baked seitan that is used in several of the dishes is top notch. I had the "Authentic Yeero," which was delicious and filling. It was filled with a very generous helping of the aforementioned seitan, with its savoriness nicely balanced by the red onions and the sauce. It made for a really nice quick meal. My partner had the potato-leek lasagna, which was the special. It was a little too leeky for my taste, but she enjoyed it. Again, a very generous serving, with a little seitan and a nice salad on the side. I certainly hope this place gets the support it deserves, because it's a real asset to the community. This was a complete surprise, such an unassuming store-front - but the staff was very friendly and we ordered our meal simply expecting a 'good' meal. But what we received was so much more than we ever expected. The kebab and the cheeseburger were MORE than just delicious - it was almost a religious experience!
