The chicken over rice (vegan) platter was truly delicious. The spices and the taste of this dish flew off the plate. Loved the little pita slices and lettuce wrap included in the dish. Definitely a dish for two people and very filling. The pita and hummus was just as good and the portions were also for 2. Equal to other reviews- this is a deli on the corner of Gleason Ave in Castle Hill. Business sign is "My Deli"- but the person behind the counter said, "we're gonna change the name to Vegan Grill soon". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Falafel on this side of The BX isn't common- so when Yelp pulled it up, I fell for it. Typical, straight up deli to start as you head in. They have a glass-covered Salad and Protein bar with lots of Veggies, already-cooked grilled chicken strips, hard-boiled eggs, Blue Cheese crumbles, etc- so to call it 'Vegan Grill'- sounds a bit deceptive. Anyhow...I'm picky about my falafel. And not that I'm an expert- but certain countries make it different. I've tried Israeli falafel, Lebanese, Greek, etc. But my first falafel intro was from an Egyptian cart back in '91- so my brain is just programmed for that type. I've no idea where these guys are from- but the Falafel I picked up here was good- plus the lettuce, tomatoes, pita and onions- were fresh. My only complaint was $6 for the Falafel sandwich......not even NYC carts charge that- at most $5! When I questioned the owner(?), he said, "you know....it's only vegetables". Again... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The IMPOSSIBLE BURGER from this place brings me a memory of a little girl where we go to McD's to get a kids meal. As soon I took a bite, I thought I was eating Vegan McD cheeseburger but much better! The way they put the ingredients together and the way they make the burgers, just a delicious burger. I'm like OMG what a nostalgia memory from childhood. Mind you I haven't eaten McD's since 10 years old. I'll be back to try different things on the menu. One thing I will have to add is... many of us are so used to vegan spots being so fancy, you can shop around, etc and this location is like a deli, nothing fancy but has everything you can imagine that you would want to eat or to bring home food. Came here to try the impossible version of the beyond chopped cheese they offer I guess if you don't like the beyond meat you can swap for impossible instead they have a vegan menu in the front on the electronic screen as well as directly behind the counter where they are cooking it up many brands such as light life, gardein 10/10 would Recommend definitely coming back. Great service by the man operating the front counter. Missing the halal food cart on 145th and 7th, I was so happy to see that I could get a vegan version in The Bronx (a shorter drive). They have other NYC specialties and bodega items. I strongly contemplated on whether I should get the "chick'un over rice" plate or the chopped cheese. Vegan burgers are pretty much readily available, so I went with the halal platter. It was just as good the traditional. It typically comes with tomato and cucumbers, but I requested a couple of extra grape leaves in its place. They have other options, and I will definitely be returning to try the chopped cheese. So excited to have a family owned vegan deli in the Bronx, ofcourse they have all the usual meat dishes too but they have a huge vegetarian selection. This was my first visit, and I went with a staple, falafal. The falafal was a bit smaller than I'd like but it was tasty, the rice was also tasty and fluffy, the salad that came with was fresh, especially enjoyed the pickled onions. The grape leaves were extraordinary! The owner is a very nice gentleman who have me the white, tahini and hot sauce to try with my meal. The white & hot sauce hit the spot. I will definitely be back! There aren't many options for fast vegan food in the Bronx, but this place is one of my favorites. Yes it's not a full vegan establishment but they have a huge menu of options. I usually place an order to pick up and it's always hot and ready on time. Today I was stuck at work and wasn't able to pick up my order on time. They called me and told me to call them back when I'm 5 minutes away and they will make me a new meal. It was hot and delicious, even though I probably would of still enjoyed the meal I ordered 2 hours prior. This spot always satisfies my vegan "junk food" cravings. They also have fresh baked goods by local bakers that include delicious brownies, cakes and I even had donuts before. No complaints and I've ordered from here over 10 times. Staff is also friendly. Awful service and dishonest practices. Ordered a vegan chicken parm wrap with mozzarella cheese and basil one time, and they decided to give me a chicken Cesar wrap instead. Tried to order some overpriced mozzarella sticks (that are advertised to have fries with it...I mean 14 dollars for 5 mozzarella sticks is just outrageous) through uber eats just now because the vegan options are very minimal...just realized they cancelled my order. I believe they cancelled because I specifically made a note that they needed to include the fries like they mentioned on the site. I've ordered this item before and no fries in sight. An absolute diamond of a place; definitely eat here if you have the chance. The food is fantastic and the entire staff is amazing. I was passing through to visit family and got an array of food to try and eat later. The bagels? They hit NY bagels on the head; great texture and flavor. The Crunchwrap and Philly Cheesesteak quesadilla? I'd have gotten two of each if I had the stomach space. The wings? Solid sides and classic buffalo flavor. In terms of staff, everyone was tremendously friendly. While I was waiting for my food, the cooks/owners fed me bacons and cookies. I love supporting up and coming vegan businesses especially in my community of the Bronx. I think the idea behind this business is great, but needs lots of work in terms of delivery and personally maybe not for me. I've ordered twice from this business, both times the orders take longer than stated aka more than 1 hr after order and I live in the Bronx. I've ordered from other vegan businesses in the Bronx, have waited an hour and the food is still warm. The first time i ordered the food was lukewarm, the second time it was very cold & the cup where the milkshake came in was dented. I waited over 2 hrs for this order to be disappointed. I also ordered a cold cut and got a hot sandwich with bacon which I didn't order. The only reason for the 2 stars was the Oreo milkshake being good. The food is ok I mean maybe it would've tasted better if I didn't have to reheat it. I've had the beyond meat chopped cheese and the chicken gyro, but both upset my tummy a bit after eating. The samosas were ok, it was more like a spring roll wrap versus traditional samosas I've had being in like a empanada type wrap. The vegan Philly did not really like at all I've had way better. Overall I like what they are doing in the community, but please do surveys or samples to improve the quality of service. read more

I called for pick-up over the phone. I made two orders. The first order was an impossible burger with American cheese, LTO, mayonnaise with a side of fries The second order was a grill cheese sandwich with jalapeños and avocado. While placing my order the guy on the phone kept interrupting me after every word to ask me "vegan or regular?". He literally wouldn't let me get a word in until I picked one. When i went into the store to pick up my food the guy was encouraging me to spend more money before charging me for my food. Anyways coming home after picking up my food I was so disappointed. The impossible burger only had one small slice of cheese on it. There was only one slice of tomato and some lettuce as well. I had to add tomatoes, onions and mayo to myself to my burger. The grill cheese didn't even have a whole slice of cheese in it. It was literally just a jalapeño sandwich. It was my first and will be my last time ordering from this Vegan store. Ordered the beyond chopped cheese wrap with fries and I was impressed with the taste. However, I have to give them 3 stars for several reasons. 1. The food was cold when it got here. I had to put my fries in the air fryer because the worst thing is eating cold fries. 2. I ordered a wrap but they gave me bread. They should've notified me that they had no warps and maybe I would've changed my order. 3. They took way too long to deliver my order. This place is great. I have a dairy intolerance and was able to order all my food with meat and substitute for their vegan cheese. They have vegan sour cream for their quesadillas and vegan white sauce for their halal food.They take veganism very seriously and cook all their meat items on one grill and all of their vegan items on a different one. Now I haven't tried all of their plant based options and I'm not particularly a fan of some items on their menu like the falafels. They were burnt the last time I ordered takeout from them. I also wish they were a bit more consistent with their menus due to sometimes missing an item off my order. Besides these issues, a lot of other foods on their menu are quite delicious like the vegan halal platter. It's by far my favorite item on their menu but please work on the pricing. Vegan Grill aka My Deli was amazing. Yes it's what we call in the bronx a bodega, but don't let that fool you. They have almost 20 full vegan options to choose from and they are unique and also have good classics such as the chop cheese. I ordered the vegan chop cheese and it was delicious. I am extremely happy that I have a place to get food that I use to eat before embarking on this journey. My wife had the avocado falafel wrap and that too was delicious. We both shared our food with each other to try out the differences. The service was exceptional and honestly the manager or owner was extremely professional and quite frankly passionate about them doing this special menu. He told me that they do delivery apart from Grubhub and the other food apps which I read have bad reviews. Do yourself a favor and just check the menu on Grubhub but call them directly. I called the restaurant, to which they responded "There is no delivery, you have to pick it up." Then why would it be given as an option?? No accommodations were even attempted to be made for us. I used to order from this place often because it was the only good vegan option around my old place, but as of late they've been slacking severely when it comes to ignoring special requests for orders.
