We snagged a last minute reso and came for dinner. We weren't too hungry so we started with the mezza platter, which allowed us to select 3 different cold dishes. We got the babaganuj, tabule, and labni. My favourite was the labni, which is a yogurt cheese dip. Tabule was also really light and refreshing. For our main, we shared the kefta, which is a ground skewer of lamb and beef. It's served with rice and grilled vegetables. I really liked the rice -- it's flavoured super well. We saved some of our mezza to eat with the meat and rice and it definitely enhanced the flavour. They have a patio that looks really vibey once the weather gets a bit nicer outside :) Verdict: good option for middle Eastern food in the midtown area! read more

My sister and I visited her friends in Toronto, and we decided to walk from their house to somewhere to eat for dinner. As we were near Yonge Street, we decided on Tabule Restaurant for some delicious Mediterranean food. We sat outside (though there were indoor options), and our food, the service, and the ambiance were all great! The four of us ordered multiple appetizers and several entrees as family-style where we all shared everything. We started off with Mujaddara (rice and brown lentil with onions topped off with concasse), Falafel (vegetarian patties consisting of crushed chick peas, split fava, parsley, garlic, onions and spices served with tahini), Hallum Salad (baby arugula, onions & seared hallüm cheese tossed together in a pomegranate dressing), Hummus (chickpea purée, lebanese tahini, fresh lemon juice & a touch of garlic), Warak Enab (vegetarian home-made grape leaves, stuffed with rice, tomatoes, garlic, lemon and spices), and Arnabeet (flash fried cauliflower finished with a touch of tahini). We then ordered Tawuk (two juicy skewers of Ontario farm fresh marinated chicken breast) to go along with the Falafel for the main dishes. My favorite dishes were the Warak Enab, Falafel, Chicken, and Arnabeet though I tried each dish, and everything was tasty. I was also entertained by the water refilling that involved a container of water that refilled the water with small tubes of water that looked almost magical. The restaurant always seemed to be busy along Yonge Street whether it was the restaurant indoor area or the outdoor seating. The staff were friendly and open to sharing recommendations. They have their Habibi Happy Hour on weekdays from 3-5 PM with $7 snacks and sips. Tabule is located in the heart of Midtown on Yonge Street and was founded by Chef Rony Goriachy and Diana Sideris in 2005. Tabule Midtown rapidly earned its place among the finest Middle Eastern restaurants in Toronto offering exotic Middle eastern Cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere. My first visit to Tabule fully exceeded my expectations, so naturally, I went back and it was just as good as the first time!! The service is lovely and the atmosphere is impeccable for a nice dinner with friends and family. The restaurant is more low key and intimate (though not in a small space by any means) -- the ambience lends to a cozy dining experience where you can comfortably catch up with friends. I would HIGHLY recommend the kefta banadura. The kefta is seasoned well and not too dry, while the sauce compliments the meat perfectly! The portion sizes are huge, so you're really getting 2 meals for the price of 1. The kefta also comes with grilled vegetables and rice which is also delicious on its own. For dessert, I would recommend the kunafa ashta. I had never had this type of dessert before and I was hooked after the first bite. It is rather sweet but the dish is served warm so everything just melts in your mouth. I could eat multiple portions of it! read more

Tabule is a small chain of Lebanese restaurants around Toronto. I've tried them all and can recommend every one of them. The Yonge/Eglinton location is equal to all the others. Great food options, great staff, warm and welcoming decor, all with that Mediterranean/ Lebanese flair. Fairly priced, many options for vegans, vegetarians and those avoiding gluten. I'm a fan of the falafel entree, my partner loves the chicken skewers but humus and any of their many dips will blow you away. We got great service from Joshua. read more

Fairly solid Middle Eastern food. Got takeout from here for lunch today. Had the Meshweh Grill Lamb for $25 plus tax which was two skewers of lamb on a bed of seasoned rice with grilled vegetables. It didn't come with garlic sauce or hot sauce which would have been nice. I also had the halloumi salad which was so so but the halloumi cheese was way too salty. I can't imagine how someone would have a negative experience at Tabule. The food is always fresh and the staff are all super nice. When it comes to value for the money, I think their food is overpriced by around 10-15%. For example, Tawuk costs $21 and consists of 2 chicken skewers. However, there's no way 11 pieces of chicken are equivalent to 2 skewers. Also, instead of so much rice, they could reduce the amount of rice and add fresh veggies to balance out the meal. I also recommend the restaurant owner to add dark meat chicken thighs to the menu, because folks like me don't eat chicken breast. The mere fact that they serve mennonite chicken is HUGE!!! Very few restaurants prioritize the quality of their ingredients to the point of going through the trouble of procuring chicken from the mennonites - the best source of chicken, lamb, beef, etc. I have to admit that the sampler platter for $21 is really good. That's what I'd go for on a hot summer day. I'm not sure if I'll be back at Tabule anytime soon, for I have other favourite places in my neighbourhood, but it's a suitable destination for quality middle eastern food. read more

We went here in the summer when the city had dedicated extra patio space to the restaurants in the sidewalks and Yonge Street. We arrived late for lunch (3 pm) and they were done for lunch time and not ready for night either; and, we were welcomed by their friendly staff. Almost went into a food coma just from the smell alone when the food came out. It was utterly delicious! I have no idea what they did to the eggplant to make it so good, but it's clearly got me addicted. The juiciness of the eggplant, combined with the tang of the nutty tahini sauce and the crisp texture of the mujaddara had me savouring every bite. The spices complimented one another perfectly: aromatic, rich but not overwhelmingly so. My friend was also quite pleased with the kefta: if you're a fan of lamb that's not too gamy, this is the to-go order. The portions were excellent as well, and the prices quite reasonable for the location. Oh right, almost forgot to mention the pita bread they served at the start of the meal - definitely some of the best I've had! Was almost tempted to ask if they'd consider selling it in bulk haha. When I first entered the place it seemed quite small. Only after a while did I realize that there was actually a whole bunch of seats on the other side of the wall; enough space avoid crowding. The ambience was cozy and pleasant, dimly lit and well decorated enough to give off a homely and slightly romantic vibe. However, the warmth of the interior was not at all reflected in the staff. We had to try innumerable times to grab someone's attention to take our orders or to get the bill. At one point our request for a water refill was simply forgotten. It wasn't as if the restaurant was packed either...the service was unfortunately quite disappointing. That being said, I can absolutely see myself coming back here again! Had a business meeting here and I personally enjoyed my meal. We all ordered the cauliflower to share as an appetizer and two others ordered the ground beef and lamb meatballs in tomato sauce, while I ordered a House salad with chicken. I really enjoyed the fresh, simple flavors of my meal. But one of my colleagues enjoyed the meatballs, while the other did not. The one who claimed to not enjoy the meal, finished eating the entire meal but claimed to get a tummy ache after dinner that he attributed to the meal. I believe the tummy ache was from not really enjoying the flavors of the meal, as opposed to the meal being contaminated with something. So I personally wouldn't take his experience into account when deciding whether or not to eat here. The service was also very attentative and super friendly. I had quite a good time when I was at this restaurant on a Thursday evening at about 8 p.m. it was pretty full inside and the patio I ordered the hummus and added sauteed meat I also ordered the tabouli salad along with khabbe ( ground meat in a pastry, it was my least favorite) and we also ordered the shrimp dinner it's shown under appetizers but you can get it as a meal everything was shared between me and my friend. My favorite dish was the hot hummus it was so fresh but the tabouli salad was just as good as I would have been happy with just those two items the hummus comes with a white Pita as well as whole wheat pita The shrimp dinner was also tasty it came in a tomato sauce but it wasn't heavy on the Tomato it was it was light and it paired well with a view rice and the vegetables The only reason I would give four stars instead of 5 if the service I didn't find that it was that great they were a little slow and left us for a very long time Almost forgot I got The Baklava for dessert which comes with ice cream it wasn't the best that I've had it was okay like I said the hummus and the tabouli salad were the best dishes I had The lighting was quite poor so I was unable to get good shots of the food read more

Fantastic menu here with options for everyone from vegans to meat eaters. It's always great to find a spot that not only caters to different dietary preferences, but actually has flavourful and creative options. It does get pretty busy here, so it's best to have a reservation or go at off-peak times to avoid a wait. But even if you do have to wait a bit, the food is well worth it! All of their dips are awesome, but my faves are the hummus and the babaganuj. They just taste so fresh! My favourite dish here is the fried eggplant; I order it every time I go. You really can't go wrong with anything, though. I haven't had a single complaint about either the service or the food in the handful of times I've been. I'm reviewing the location at Bayview Village. I've known about this establishment for a number of years though did not get a chance to try it until recently. Their original location is much smaller from my understanding. Was pleasantly surprised to learn that the restaurant was inside the mall. It is conveniently located, spacious and welcoming. Since I was meeting with a friend during lunch and hadn't eaten yet, we decided to dine in. It was a hit! First of all, the decor is beautiful. The restaurant has an elegant feel to it. There are two seating areas; one deeper inside the restaurant with booths and another on their sidewalk patio. The service was top notch, including the food and drinks. I ordered from their prix fixe menu, which provided a huge offering of an appetizer followed by the main. I went with hummus (a generous plate) combined with the lamb and beef kofta burger and zaatar fries, which were different and delicious. The meal could have fed two and sort of did when a third person joined us and polished off my fries. Portions were large and with the food being scrumptious, no one could resist. We ate til we got the itis! ;) My friend ordered a drink and enjoyed it very much that she recommended I get it too. I was too full for the latte and went with tea instead. While spending most of the day together catching up and browsing the mall, we noticed the restaurant filling up with patrons. It was pretty busy by dinnertime. Service was excellent, however the food was not: I got the HALLÜM SALAD as appetizer (baby arugula, onions & seared hallüm cheese tossed together in a pomegranate dressing). The dressing was SO sour, it was like eating lemons. The 3 pieces of oily cheese was okay, kinda rubbery like fish paste. I liked the lentil soup better, smooth and warming. Next was the entrée, TAWUK (local) (juicy skewers of marinated Mennonite chicken breast charcoal broiled). Nice flavours, but when the menu says "juicy", I expect my chicken to be juicy. However, it was extremely dry and hard, and that was disappointing. Each entrée comes with vegetables (big chunks of onions, peppers and zucchini) and rice. I switched the plain rice to Mujaddara rice (lentil rice) but the waitress never told me it would cost extra. It was just a surprise on my bill afterwards of $1.50. Didn't think that was nice of her to do and I didn't think it would be a big deal since that rice is also on the winterlicious menu. Also, the "crispy" onions on top of the rice were hard, stale and cold. I just tossed it aside. Interesting that the skewers are not served on a stick and that the KEFTA BANADURA (Juicy skewers of Middle Eastern spiced ground beef and lamb served on a bed of garlic tomatoes) was served in sauce. Much more moist than my chicken for sure. Finally for dessert, RICE PUDDING (Rose water, raisons, pistachios and a sprinkle of cinnamon). Didn't taste like much. Just cold goo. The KNAFFA ASHTA (Angel hair filo layered with custard and topped off with rose water syrup) was also very strange. I actually really liked Tabule. I've heard many many great things about this place and finally decided to try it out when visiting a friend living in the area. I'm not near Yonge and Eg frequently so I wanted to make sure I tried something unique to this area and I'm glad I tried Tabule! This middle eastern place has a quaint and calm ambience contrasting the bustling streets of Yonge and Eg. I made reservations and was seated right away. The restaurant was not too noisy and had a really calming atmosphere. The server was very friendly and prompt. Decided on a labneh to split with my party (yogurt dip with pita) and the falafel entree as my main. The dip was delicious, though a bit garlic-y for my liking. Nonetheless still good. Then came my falafel entree. It was very fresh and the mujadara rice was delicious! All the ingredients combined in perfect harmony to create bold middle eastern expressions. I also tried a bit of my friend's eggplant dish which was quite good too. It was pretty reasonably priced as well. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area again, but I wouldn't go out of my way. What would I change...hmmm a slightly cheaper price point. This review is for the take out option. I ordered up two meals with a side of baba ganough. The portion are a good size with lots of rice (heavy) and grilled vegetables. The chicken was dry but I guess is signature of this region, kefta were ok as well. The side of garlic sauce was decent, hot sauce was ok. They are priced a bit on the night higher side imo and if it wasn't for the promo would have gotten a lower rating. 2.5 stars for now. I enjoyed the baba ganough as it had a nice smoky flavor. As the restaurant is located on the intersection of Yonge Street & Glebe Rd; finding a parking spot would be a bit of a problem. The interiors are nice and cozy with comfortable chairs and traditional middle eastern chandeliers. The warm colorful lights are really a treat for your eyes! The menu has lots of mezze options (small plates or appetizers) and you could indeed go for mezze's if you are sharing with your group; The entree menu is limited to 3 or 4 options in each category - vegetarian, grilled and seafood. Special note - the way they pour their water is like a waterfall. It's quite something! We went with the fried cauliflower mezze and an entree for each of us. The food came in hot and quick - My kafta entree had meat balls with rice and vegetables. The quantity was meager to small and was disappointing. I was also surprised that there wasn't any free appetizers either. Even though the food items fall on the pricy side, the restaurant doesn't. The quantities are minimum and didn't find anything interesting that set apart the food quality or the food taste. Ordered the lentil soup (don't believe her when she says a bowl isn't that big) and the hummus, babaganoush and tabouli. The soup was amazing. Red lentils with a touch of curry. Beautiful. Hummus tasted homemade good with the warm pita. And the smokiness of the eggplant in the babaganoush was perfection. Tabouli was crazy fresh and mouth puckering sour. Tabule is amazing! The restaurant has a small entrance and it's easy to miss but once you're in you'll know why it has such high reviews! We had a reservation on a Friday evening for 7 of us and the table was ready when we arrived. It got pretty busy so be sure to make a reservation. From what I remember, if you reserve online, it only allows you to book for up to 6 people, but if you call them you can book for more. For food, most of us either ordered the kefta or the salmon - both were delicious. I had the kefta which was juicy and flavourful, and the portion size was big. I also tried some of the salmon which was just as good. I think it's hard to find places that do salmon well, but Tabule really does a good one and I would never hesitate to order it here. Also the fried onions that come with the rice are the best!! We also tried the falafel appetizer which was really well done too.
